Driving On WA SR-291 North/South In 1983 (Spokane)

Back in 1983, The Washington State Department of Transportation drove North/South on SR-291 and recorded video to document the highway. This was part of a project that photographed/videotaped the states highways every couple of years. This video now resides at The Washington State Archives who were kind enough to share it.

This is the Spokane of my childhood, every time one of these videos drops I think I will see one of our cars. These videos also remind me of my home since I lived 17 years in Spokane and 12 years on the west side of the state, sadly I'm now living east of Mississippi.

Seeing this reminds me of how run-down Spokane has gotten. It's always been kind of rundown but seems more so whenever I visit.
