Driving On WA SR-529 North/South In 1989 (Everett)

- Back in 1989, The Washington State Department of Transportation drove North/South on SR-529 and recorded video to document the highway. This was part of a project that photographed/videotaped the states highways every couple of years. This video now resides at The Washington State Archives who were kind enough to share it.

Surprising number of early/mid '70s cars still on the road for 1989. As a New Englander I had to remind myself they don't use road salt in the PNW.

I really miss the 1990s. So many good memories.
2 things I miss: Regular gasoline $0.97 / gal, and Everett without crackheads camped all over the city.
I miss the video rental stores and Alfys Pizza.

That’s like $2.50 in today’s money. People forget inflation. Also petrol is more refine, gas additives and no lead in it. Tax on gas hasn’t kept up with inflation. So percentage wise we’re paying less in taxes for each gallon. I think gas prices would go down if we had more and company greed wasn’t to bad. Things have gotten expensive. Wages can’t keep up with inflation and company greed. But people need to stop looking at the smaller number and thinking it’s actually that much cheaper. You need to compare it to percentage of what we’re making vs the cost of goods. The math says we’re definitely screwed but not as bad as people think.
Also bigger numbers doesn’t always mean better. I’m a millionaire…. In Nigeria. In the U.S. I feel broke 😂

@@highwayvideos3434 Unfortunately, SR529 ended at 4th and State. How far back do these videos go? I know you have a couple of Hwy 99 from the mid 70s that were shot on film. It would be cool if there was any film of Hwy 99 before they built the freeway, because that would encompass State Ave. in Marysville.
