Ray likes to live dangerously. Working with small parts of the fuel pump directly over the hole into the tank. I was expectantly waiting for something to be dropped into the tank. If that happened, would Ray leave it there or try to fish it out? We got our answer when he dropped the wire into the tank ... he didn't show us what he did. I'm guessing it's staying in the tank.

Did they try to run e85 through there? The high ethanol content will destroy rubber not made for it.

Ray you should think about anchoring a winch on the back wall or floor of the shop so you don't need push cars in.

To dress the dry belt I found using the soap from hotels , have engine running and apply soap to v belts and ribbed ones to quiet them

When removing the tank on those lsuzu's I found it easier to remove drive line then move tank towards the middle of the truck and then down and out. Then I just take a 'smack hammer driver ' and loosen the screws (miniature one)

I was a bit worried when he broke out the heat gun over a tank full of fuel but I guess it’s not as dangerous as I thought.

Plastic melted by ethanol is my vote. I've gotten some chinesium pumps in the past with rubber/plastic parts that wasn't resistant to ethanol and ended the same way. Since it appears that pump was replaced before.

I love, love, love this channel! I've been a subscriber since you left the corporate shop and went out on your own. That took real courage and belief in yourself, you set a great example for the younger generation of mechanics Ray! I love the quality of your work and that you don't give up until you find the problem. You are a rare breed of mechanic and you set a great standard of diagnostic and repair quality in your videos. I really prefer and enjoy the longer episodes like this one, too bad the bellyacher's with a short attention span make you feel you have to keep your videos shorter. The work you put into your videos (not to mention the encoding and uploading of the videos) must take a lot of time and effort. Keep up the great work Ray, you have a real fan club out there judging by the comments I read.

Here's another trick for your gas can at the other end opisite the flow out on top near the handle drill a hole and use a bolt to screw in it remove bolt as you begin to pour the fuel will come out real fast

Gross looking soft plastic. Probably reacted with the turpentine gas and got soft or not.

I was stressed during the entire time of you using an open gas tank as a work bench. I think this is where the saying " there's no such thing as an accident", comes from. It would have been quite the clean-up if that blob of black GAK fell inside the opening. SMH
