Ray sees a near pristine New York vehicle…” this is gnarly and must go”
Eric O… “ hold my beer…”
Yeah, Eric O fixing the suspension on a clapped out Subaru is what you need to watch after this
@@ccmoos Seen it, then done it. It was gnarly.
That's a decent truck for our area too. Lots of salt water and air down here on the east coast of Md and Va. Eric O is definitely laughing at the "on its last leg" statement
It actually is on it's last leg, unless you're insane and like to drive a total rotbox that has it's drivetrain fall out or your seat fall through the floorpan.. both if which I've seen happen in person
If this was my truck... It would not be my truck. I've owned two fords in my life. Both were money pits. If I was "Pete", I'd park it and part it out.
That poor truck says don’t fix me. Let me go to car heaven!
I was thinking the exact same thing. If I were in Ray's shoes I would just say "Sorry, this truck is not worth fixing" and politely decline service.
Ray says, let me squeeze some last dough before that.
Some people don't want to buy a new car they keep them until its nothing but a rusted out shell
Or fix it enough to be roadworthy while implementing a serious plan for another truck.
@@ozzierabbit587 find a good body truck with blown engine...
9:05 Ray, those are Crane Flies. Also commonly called Mosquito Hawks. Despite the name, they do not hunt mosquitoes and they can't bite. I believe they're eternally doomed to circle porch lights.
Sorry you are very mistaken, that bug is a single engine hybrid swamp hopper(genus-ugli-buggious-giganticious) Relative to the May Fly which may fly or it may not. This one prefers to ride in rusty Fords and feed on surface rust. It's a native to the Florida swamp and is solely responsible for wiping out an entire species of the 4 toed-razor back Sloth that used to roam the wetlands, plains and suburb's of Florida's pan handle and is why they went instinct today.
Here in the UK we call them 'daddy long-legs'! Yes, crane fly!
They are called blind mosquitoes
@bernardcromarty485 Daddy Long Legs, really Granddaddy Long Legs but people often leave the Grand part off, aren't a flying bug here. They look like spiders with really long, hair thin legs and a round body about the size of a lentil. Fortunately, they're not spiders because some can be 4 inches across when they spread out. And that's too big for a spider.
@@fartzinacan They are however, excellent Trout food. Cranefly patterns are quite effective when the hatch is on.
The dog had that look like go away you're embarrassing me 😂
A mechanic in Dallas once told me they have specially designed high quality gravel roads that conscientious drivers bring their prized vehicles to aggressively drive to knock off under car rust.
Dallas vehicles don’t rust tho’
@@emmettturner9452because of the “specially designed high quality gravel road” maybe? 😅
@@Jmg831 Dallas vehicles don’t rust because Texas vehicle don’t rust. Texas vehicles don’t rust because southern vehicles don’t rust. The rust on that truck is from regularly salted roads in “rust belt” states. :)
@@emmettturner9452 oh ok thank you for the info ;)
Luna doesn’t like the city. lol. She yearns for the pond.
Customer states,major brake issues
Mechanic states please randomly shift gears while I climb under this truck with major brake issues. 😂
😅😅😅
"Cut towards your body not your buddy"...I just blew my coffee out threw my nose! LOL!!!
What a morning, Rainman Ray, South Main Auto, and Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostic with in an hour
Yeah, my favorites too.
@OldFatBubba that was a wonderful surprise
Hopefully I,ll get added to that list in a year or two....
“It looks good from afar but its far from good.”

So cool to see “wife unit” Lauren starting the transition to “Rain Woman!” Just a matter of time now!!
Ray Eric O turned that job down so Pete brought the truck to you! 😂
Ray does anything as long as customer has $.
Up here in Canada, we have a 'Conspiracy Theory' that says the auto dealerships subsidize the highway department de-icing, to include sand in the salt mixture. The sand is to wear away the paint protecting the body, so the salt can get to work! Rusted out cars = new car sales!
needs to sell new cars to keep economy prosper.
Not so much now that they are mandating EVs. EVs are a joke in places with wide open spaces.
@@johncooper4637 Not gonna happen. The impracticality of such vehicles for 90% of the population is enormous. Once the salt sand eats away at one of these jokes on wheels, they are basically garbage.
What a morning. A rainman rays video and southmain auto with in seconds of each other
You missed a perfect opportunity while Dave was at lunch… “Dave’s not here!”
Looks like a trip to the scrap heap would be the best result. ! 😅🤣😂
On the bright side my guess is that this is the last brake job that "Ferd" is ever gonna need.
@@johnfbmI have seen trucks far worse than this on the road.
@@jamessowards3822 Sure and I've seen worse too - doesn't mean this one will out last those brake pads.
In Pennsylvania, that truck would be in better condition than half the trucks I pass on the road every day, at least the frame is still pretty solid. People go ape crap when their truck fails an annual safety inspection due to rust. They then go find a shady practices garage and pay for a "lick it and stick it" inspection.
Its a ford. It was ready for the scrap yard the day it left the dealership
Exactly that snippet insert from tech talk ,extreme caution should be used when putting rusted frame vehicles on the rack
that overgrown mosquito is a crane fly. completely harmless, thank God
Don't they eat mosquitoes?
No
@@ProToolsApprovedI believe they do
Baby pterodactyl would be bad 😎
@@ProToolsApprovedthey can cause brown spots in your yard
Wife unit is gorgeous
Living up here in the “rust belt” , and having many farms around , farm trucks are everywhere. It is typical. To have any brand truck used of a farm to be well rusted before its’ time . The junk they drive through will eat the metal very fast . Between the fertilizer., animal waste , both kinds , the automotive world offerings just don’t stand a chance . Good job Ray , also good to see wife unit learning more about your end of the shop .stay safe , have fun .
Truck eating bacteria?
This truck looks like it's from Eric O's COUNTRY with all the oxidation under that truck. SCARY!!!!!
It never ceases to amaze me what kind of scrap metal people drive around in...unbelievable
Good morning to all. Ray’s “Stopping better, before stopping forever video!” Poor old Ford. It will have the best front brakes in the junkyard. It wants to go home to Wilber’s and star in a SMA video too! Cheers to all. -KB
Very visual example of the "Northern Rust" you talk about..also on the brake line being frozen. I'd imagine the techs up there get used to it. Thanks for the great video on the "Ferd" brake job. And for the beautiful Lauren/Wife Unit cameo - and a Dave shot too. 😊
No worries, I'm sure Ford will be more than willing to sell you a new truck for $70,000 + dollars.
I feel sorry for this owner and I am dealing with the same thing on a Dodge Ram, total junk!
Yikes! What a rusty bucket! At least it can stop now.... 😂
CPR and hoses, gotta love Fords😢
Thanks brother I needed the Ace Ventura reference. My Blood pressure is stupid high lately I'm getting really worried about my health and I really needed a good laugh. God bless you man !
I'm right there with you bud, same problem. Ray for the win!
Yall get that treated asap.
High bp can cost you your vision.
Best of luck.
u need to learn from truck owner and Ray, no worry, be happy.
If you are coughing some clear sort of liquid there is fluid in your lungs.
This makes it hard for blood to transit through and really boosts your blood pressure.
A diuretic is needed then, not blood pressure medicine.
My friend had this for a long time, his heart enlarged and he was close to heart failure before it was diagnosed.
@@wayneessar7489 That's exactly what is happening, I wake up every morning coughing clear crap up from my lungs, but just been to weak to do anything lately. I'm going try to make it to the clinic on Friday if I don't need the emergency room lol . ty for the info man It really makes perfect sense. I really feel like some oxygen would help. I definitely do not drink enough water and I get really dehydrated, I'm taking care of my elderly mother and I forget to take care of myself most of the time.
I like the train horn. It's better than the phone ringing.
Good morning RAY, SOMETIMES IT BEST TO SEND THE VEHICLE TO JUNK YARD HEAVEN 😅 PUPPY LOOKS TIRED ,BUT COMFFY😅 GOOD MORNING WIFE UNIT.
Those are deck screws, Pete has higher standards than just drywall screws.
I made a similar comment.
Giant Mosquitos are called Crane Flies or sometimes Mayflies. They're harmless.
When we moved to Florida from Ohio I had a friend bring down my 2002 F250. Once it got here, first drive the front right caliper seized. Next drive, rear brake line blew. 3rd drive it made the trip to Lowes and back before the rear tank strap broke.
By a new strap, no problem to fix. Go to remove the bed since that is pretty easy and helps when replacing the straps. Realized the only thing holding the bed on was the spray on bed liner. Everything else had rusted away. 😞
RIP beautiful 7.3.
Like the way you incorporated the boss into the script. Dresses up your videos. LOL
Just remember that when you are in your safe vehicle traveling freely down the road....this truck is on the same roads putting you in jeopardy.
CPR - Calipers, Pads, and Rotors. Love the acronym!
Rainman Ray.. Cool video. That ones ready for junk yard cause it does not still feel like a new corvette. Wait.. what? Anyway I spilled my coffee when you said "you need a bigger one that goes deeper".. 😂😂
Thanks for the video Ray, good to see shop dog and wife unit 😀. That looks like a misquote hawk which if it is, it's good to have around.
I think you misquoted the name of the bug, it's a mosquito hawk.😎😎
Mechanic and Scholar Ray, thanks for narrations
Crane flies are also called mosquito eaters. They don’t bite humans😎
The truck is textbook definition to the word drive it till it drops!! And it's going to drop at any time!!! That truck is definitely beyond fixing!!😮 That is a vehicle that has never been maintenanced!!
The train in front of the one honking is still texting after light tuned green 😎
I'm not an expert on those but I believe those are star bit deck screws they have a copper zinc coating on them so they don't rust/corrode easily. Drywall screws typically do not and are a Phillips pattern bit
Came here to say this.
This was either a northern truck originally, or it was in a storm surge zone or went on saltwater boat ramps at some point in its life.
soon all Florida will be under storm surge.
Watching you beat the pads loose from the calipers reminds me why I always lubricate the slides. You southerners get by with putting them up dry, but we can't.
Thank you.
Chiming in from Canada. That’s basically what my car looks like underneath.
oh hey, my teacher taught me if you have the rod that you press on brake pedal a tiny bit ( till brake lights turn on) then have rod stay up against seat you will stop the flow of fluid coming out. of course make sure to keep battery charged. was a great little tip. they had the right tool to adjust length up to seat and pedal.. anyway sure you knew about this.... love the vids man.
25:20, things falling appart, even the pads, and that flashlight lol
WIFE UNIT FTW!!! Good catch Lauren! 😂😂😂😂 damn drywall screws.
You can use that brake line trick on rear drum wheel cylinders as well. Unbolt the wheel cylinder and spin it off the line. Standard operating procedure here in Canada where the line fittings never turn. Learned it when I was a kid.
Luna puppy: The Luna pupster be looking at you suspiciously 😂😂
Crane flies (Tipuloidea) are actually beneficial, as their larvae help recycle organic waste. There is a mosquito species that's nearly that big though, called a Gallinipper (Psorophora ciliata). So big they have numbers painted on them.
Yup. They also like to fight over which one gets to carry you off!
Ray, thanks for the tip on tapping the bolt to compress the crush washers.
Nicely done Ray!
What happened to the Kids that used to cheer when you showed the BreakClean can? They would say Yeah!! & be so excited.
I'm from Ohio and that truck looks pretty good.
Nothing a little fluid film can't fix.
Excellent backing skills.
>don't run me over.
Lauren [thinking...]
"Did I make the insurance premium payment this month?"
@@CraigGrant-sh3in Or "We might need to increase that policy".
As an ex Ford mechanic in the north east, that truck is in mint condition! Hell you'd probably condem my truck, 94 suburban, tiny spot in the frame that's bad up front by the bumper mount, still fixable but not going to, by the time it gets bad, I'd be driving something else.
GOOD JOB
Some lucky guy will find those nice new parts in the junkyard soon.
Ray battery azize is the funniest thing i have ever heard from anyone other than myself, you really crack me up ,thanks always love your video,GO RAY GO
What a great job you did on them breaks and it was nice seeing the wife unit so say hi to her from us❤
ray you can loosen the end of the brake line. I take the hose off the way you did. then I heat the end of the fitting and line so there red hot and then I hit it with some kind of penetrating oil while turning the nut and the line usually frees up. I've had very good luck with this method over the years of working on seized brake lines.
Yelp..
Best of luck. I pray you return back safely to shop .❤
Welcome to my world up here in Hamilton Ontario Canada in the rust belt we are the buckle.
That truck will have the best front brakes in the salvage yard. 😊
The brake clean queen.
You are a good man i learn from you ray thank you you’re friend Thomas Krakowski I have a Chevy truck thank you ray❤
30:11 nice editing😂
Good diagnosis by Loren at 23:08
My 98 Ford E250 I live in uses very same rotors and calipers and pads the caliper bracket bolts are 22mm and the slid pin bolts are 13mm I'm still on the new calipers and pads and rotors and bearings I did last year still working pretty damn well
I love when you have the wife unit help you she's so cool she she gets right in there and checks everything out
Eric O. would definitely be proud of you. A least you only have to deal with rust outs occasionally.
Ray, your dog has its priorities straight. Farm life beats city life every day. Lol.
So glad there is a compulsory annual inspection in the UK. This truck would have been off the road years ago ! Nice work.
It's Fitz like a glove I knew you were going to say that Ray lol 😂😂😂
First time I took a vehicle in for an inspection to get plates while living in Germany, the inspector put the car on a lift, took out a huge screwdriver and with great force started stabbing at the underside of my car like a possessed murderer. Watching to nicely poke at the underside of this one reminded me of that.
Good job ray good tip to remove the brake hose ,top man 👍👌🔧🔧🔧❤️
Just a thought, at 1:0039 you could take the bolt out from the bracket , rotate said bracket until brake line fit properly into said bracket and then reattach . ??? that being said, I enjoy your channel very much!!!!!
Victim of the rust belt for certain. But she's stopping like a champ now 👍
I'm sad it's on its last legs, it looks like a really nice truck too. Great job as always though Ray
Awesome video Ray
This was a “Very Good Video” you exhibited many techniques that surely were acquired over many years. Of course Wife Unit was integral for the success.
You are never too old for a new pair of shoes.
Ahhhhhh, Another great video by Rainman Ray's Repairs!!! 👩🦳
That's a beautiful color for me
It's a mayfly. We used to call them "Skeeter Eaters" before I knew that they were mayflies.
Holy Rust!
Ray I just had a 2013 toyota kluger/ highlander come to me with the exact same issue. I had the same opinion and you just confirmed it! Cheers mate for your videos from Australia
I wanted to see ray replace those ball joints. Lol
I don't think he has the license to use high explosives. Remember the Mythbusters " When in doubt C4"
Up here in NY a torch (or two) is a typical tool for working on vehicles. Just did a master cylinder on a 1975 Imperial last week with rusted fittings. A little heat and patience will break em free.
And as a motorcycle rider these rot-boxes with parts about to fall off are just as dangerous as the cellphone zombies.
Hey my friend had an old jeep used strictly for firewood gathering up north, it was so rusty he welded the doors shut so it would not fold in half.
Great job ray!!! Thanks again. Lauren thank you for your mandatory video appearence!!! Always a pleasure maam.
Those windshields really fit nicely with each other..
It is amazing that the rotors were not frozen to the hubs based on the amount of rust. I sure wish you had checked the rear brakes, too. Is there going to be another video about the drive line noises?
Hey Ray, when installing the first new caliper, you said not the bolts fault so I immediately thought that it must me the nuts fault! lol
that thing is toast
Loren with her mandatory appearance I love it😂 great woman
