Road Rager Arrested - Brake Check

  • In October 2023, New York State experienced a significant road rift incident from an aggressive DUI driver.
    Before the video:
Our Dashcam Director makes a left turn onto this road. About 10 seconds after being on the road, this video starts. Its possible the DUI Driver was "cut off" by the Dashcam Director.
If he was, he had ~10 other seconds to go around him. There were never cars in the opposing lane of traffic, and it was always a dashed passing lane.

The FIRST time I drove on the highway I was 18.5 and was driving down a 2 lane highway with a speed limit of 65 and I was going 70. The road was empty which was rare asf and as I’m driving a car comes up beside me and stays there for a few minutes, then gets in front of me going a little faster than me. Then he hits his break and comes to a dead stop. I almost hit him, but swerved in time into the other lane to go around him. He did this 2 more times before I hit the gas and dipped out of there. He didn’t try to follow me. My mom had just told me about a time when she was driving on the highway and got a flat tire, and a guy stopped to help her then tried to pull her into the woods. Luckily another car saw and stopped and he let her go. That’s immediately what I thought this guy was trying to do to me. He wanted me to stop for a reason. I’m glad it happened at such an early stage in my life cause I’ve kept it in the back of my mind and have always been prepared. Either that or he was trying to get an insurance claim cause there weren’t any dash cams in 2010 like there are today. It was scary and I don’t doubt he tried that on someone else, I just hope they were able to get away like I was. People are wild 🤦‍♀️
Also, road ragers need to lose their license until they take anger management and another drivers test! These people are overly emotional and sensitive, and they’re very dangerous. They don’t belong on the roads.

Right? Or turn around. Why this guy was trying to pass this dude who was totally unhinged is a stupid move. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I think he kept going because if he did turn around or stopped the guy would turn around with him and ram the back of his car or the guy would get out of the car and go up to his car window and just beat the window

The dashcam driver should have held back to be safe.

So just...stop. that dude is gonna have to react, stop HIMSELF, and either reverse all the way back, or turn around to follow.
If he starts reversing hard, you have either hopefully already turned around to drive away, or you start putting rounds through the rear windshield into the driver-seat silhoullette. It's a potentially-lethal attack at that point. If the other guy turns around and follows you, drive to the police station or wherever the call operator tells you to go in order to let a cop they dispatch intercept the situation.
All the what-ifs don't change that OP is right. This was a wildly stupid way to deal with it.

As a motorcyclist, we deal with people being stupid all the time. Just keep cool and let them go on their way. It's not worth it.

Shouldn’t he also be charged with attempted murder?

Road rage that causes an accident should be an automatic attempted murder charge
