That's my Kia back down visiting Ray again. Hearing him say it wasn't the compressor I'm sure is very much like the guys on Maury felt hearing they were not the fathers.
Yes, that car spent the first 10 years of its life being attacked by New Jersey roads, both the pot holes and moon craters, and the excessive amount of brine they used. It still is going to need some more work under the front end to get rid of some rusty parts. Ray will be doing that later this year.
He's done two videos on my car too. I'm lucky enough to live 20 minutes away from him 😮😊
😂 @ Maury reference!
Oh hey! Another car owner who marks their engine cover with the oil type/amount and the oil filter part number!
So glad to finally find out I'm not the only one!!!
@@MonkeyJedi99Points off at the car show. 😂
It’s great to have Ray working on our cars. I’m so glad I live close to him!
Ray's Truck is so tricked out, he could jump start the Queen Mary with it!
2 black cable terminals' clamps trick
I like the dual diag. It’s like we are in the shop with you in the real world. Bouncing around, multitasking is goooood.
I am noticing since Dave came the shop seems to be keeping up with backup, well better anyway. He must be an consistent mechanic. 😊😊😊😊
Yes. Dave looks like a good worker.
It's a shame he is not on the camera that often.
Great video this morning. I know it's tough filming all of this content and then editing later. Thank you for your efforts!
As a kid, that home alone clip was one of my favorites lol 😂
Hi, Ray! My wrench turning days are over, but I love watching others doing these things. Giess I'm living vicariously through your videos. Thanks! 😊
I'm an older guy myself. I used to do comm tech engineering. Ray inspired mee to do my own maintenance on my vehicle. I no longer have to pay the rip off artists (and unqualified) at the chain shops. I wish I had an honest mechanic like him near where I live. His shop is like 2 hours from my home.
Right there with you all!! I hate the fact that I can no longer do this kind of work. I had planned to start a restoration project but I guess Murphy had other plans. 😢😢
37 years of making a living with wrenches and my body and mind had enough . Ray and Eric O at South Main Auto fill that gap for me .
@@user-tf3ir8sc5m Yo iría aunque fuese arrastrándome y empujando el automóvil ¡esas 2 horas!!!
"Not suppository", Ray's quote of the year.
Ray ,yousaved the customer money by looking for a replacement time’s saving measure. Have great day!
Hi Ray I just about shit myself when you cut to the person getting electrocuted. What a great laugh I had. I do learn a lot from your videos they are great. One of the best car videos on CZcams. I wish you and your wife unit all the best in the future you and your wife deserve to do well you are a great team
Your channel is one of the few I give a thumbs up b4 I watch the video, cause it's always good.
Oh hey, a rare 1h Ray video
¡Pasaron muy rápidos esos 62,2 minutos! 😄
😂
Hey Ray..truck driver here. Watch you every single day ,best mechanic I've seen in a long time.
Ray, south main auto and pine hollow are top 3 imo
BREAKING NEWS: RAY disassemble entire car with just a 10mm, trim tool and angry pliers....😂
What Ray loves to do, overcoming the AllData book hours, with good old fashion Yankee intelligence, and winning !!!
watching you work Ray has given me the courage to get brave and have a go , but I draw the line at gearboxes.
That's very fair Chris. I'm pretty convinced they are not the work of natural men, but of machine men, with machine hearts.
I like watching videos like this where the repairs are within the realm of my ability as a shade tree mechanic.
Whenever I see someone trying to fiddle parts into a motor, it reminds me of that Douglas Adams story about the sofa that wouldn't move when it got stuck on the stairs, so everybody had to climb over it for the rest of the story.
I love that scene!
Even funnier when you read the Dirk Gently story that explains how the couch got stuck.
As the saying goes "Two cars with one Ray"!😂😂
Ray..... you always say "poppening ze hood" but have never heard you say "closening ze hood". 😁
That’s because it’s, “unpoppening ze hood.” 🤣😆
He’s pretty much stopped saying that, which is a shame!
I've been just flat out sad for a couple of days. Went looking for some entertainment to take away from life for a bit and bam... New vid from Ray a few hours ago. As always, thanks for the content sir.
Ray, when I was still in high school (1956) I bought a “29” Model A Ford 2 Door Sedan with $45 earned from picking cotton. It ran great while on black top but quickly stalled when on gravel. I got it back to our backyard where I started taking the engine apart. Not finding the problem I let the car sit for about 6 months. One day I was standing next to the right front when I focused on something that made my head hurt! It was the sediment bowl!
Do I need to say more? I retired in 2001 from the govt where one of my best job was final acceptance inspector on the Space Shuttle main engines. That hard lesson I learned way back in high school stayed with me all my life!
One car, two, ten even, I really just like the longer videos and it's still interesting.
Ray since your customer know you are fair it’s saves you time nice
Yes, watching Ray work, I would just drop off my vehicle and tell him to do what he thinks is best.
good morning to you too and I am glad you are on. A great addition to checking voltage for alternator output is a DC amp clamp to make sure all is right.
Our service truck had plug in cable jumpers. Saved a lot of time. Avon skin so soft bath oil will keep mosquitos at bay for a few hours
Thanks for showing us a bit of multitasking. It was interesting watching you do two jobs at once.
I'm so glad the evaporator bullet was dodged on this repair!
It really should be replaced, but Im sure the owner has things more important. Its a cost benifit thing, as long as its working, he can save to afford the swap.
I like the dual diag. You should do that more often.
Checked your reviews on Google. It's almost unheard of having such a good grade for a repair shop having a 4.9 with so many reviews. Good job Ray and wifeunit!
This vid dropped just as I was going to bed here in Sydney. Dame, another 12:30am bed time LOL
Hi Ray. It was great watching you do 2 cars at the same time. Gives a glimpse of how the shop works.
Excellent explanation of a car’s cooling system and how everything works. I learned a lot.
Another quality Virtual video where the viewer gets to fix a car using Ray's hands..
Give yourselves a pat on the back and don't forget to hit the like button for a job well done.
Here is a comment, ticking in for the algorithm
And here i was about to go to bed here in Utah also morning sir
Going to bed? But it’s 9:30am!
@mike.47 haha not for another 7 hours!
You can still go to bed. My dogs sleep with me on the bed
Rear air conditioning has its own evaporator and controls.
I'm in Northern Utah
I love every now and again learning some new technique from Ray in performing some repairs. Always good to know as it saves me time and frustration!
Let's get the jump box.
MORE POWER!!!😂😂😂
Love the longer videos! Especially several parts! You are very entertaining! Thanks keep up the good work.
The coffee cup never lies.
That's what they call beating the book. I guess the 2.7 was the wait time for the right part. Nice job.
Hammer hack: That alone was well worth the watch!!! ❤
Wish I knew that bolt trick for pushing alternater in place. Would've saved me an hour of pushing and grinding it down. Grrr!!!! Learn so much from u ray.. best Mechanic!!👍🏆🏆
Home alone clip was great!!! Great video!!! Thanks ray nice job!!!😊
Rare form today..k k k kia..weather bird..no birds were hurt...just as sunny as the weather..great video
This is an excellent video Ray! Good, short and precise explanations. Diagnostic straight to the point. Boom
that ticking sound you are asking about is very very normal on hyundai/kias some of them even do that when brand new.
It’s another beautiful midnight in Hawaii.
Hi Ray I am glad to be here too
We will not smell and taste it, but you will smell and taste it then tell us about it.
---Edit to add
That is one heck of a jumper box Ray!
Fantastic video Ray... Hectic Monday!!!!
Nicely done Ray!
Good morning Ray from a sunny U.K. (makes a change)🥵
Good morning! 👋
My '21 Elantra you would dance a jig the alternator is so easy to get too. My Neon had the alternator go - and the part was over $800 - beautiful, the size of a fist - but I think BMW sourced for the engine so they guy said - it is a very good unit but heaven help you when they break AND it was buried nice and deep down.
Thanks for another great video 👍
Vicariously! That’s an awesome description! Thanks Ray. A great day to yerself as well. Hey to all. Be safe. Maintain.
Another splendid job from Ray.
I would have never thunk to check the evaporator in that way. The coffee cup was brilliant for isolating the source water from possible contamination from the floor. Good job Ray!
2.7 hours wow incredible
Another great video by the Rainman, thanks for sharing it with us.
LOL @ Electrifying Man blurp! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Speaking of surfing bird, my first wife had cousin who was a member of the Trashmen.
Great video, and super fast service, your a customer happy man.
I haven't had a mechanic in 10 years I'd give the ok without a price. In fact, I just hope they do the job right. The last place that replaced an A/C compressor for me, didn't replace the condenser though it could've used it, then the system started leaking, it wasn't until I need a rack and pinion and I handed the new mechanic ( my 3rd in 2 years ) a black light to check the compressor since it was hidden from the top and I have a skidplate so hidden from the bottom, that I found out the original mechanics ( sic ) ripped an O-ring and didn't tighten the line all the way. It was so bad, the mechanic I had check it, took a picture of the engine and compressor from the bottom illuminated by the black light. It glowed like a 1970s trip room.
I'm in envy every time you show us the inverter upgrade on the Duramax, currently starting to collect such parts for my own GMC, love the videos Ray 🤘🤘
I use to have a Sorento like this many years ago. That suv was awesome! I drove that crap out of that thing every day and my first check engine light was at 180k miles! I gave it to my daughter as her first car and she totaled it. As far as that ticking noise is concerned, I never had a ticking noise.
Multi tasking today Ray well done
Lots of really good diagnostic advice in this video. Experience counts!
I have bought 2 new Kia Sportages a 2020 and 2022 and they both make that noise. I’ve always wondered what that noise was
and now I know…..😂
Another awesome video.
Back in the day (Early 70's), I jumped a dead battery on a cold morning. Just as I turned around from connecting the cables, the battery cracked and made a small explosion, sending battery acid all over my backside. NEVER making that mistake again. The shirt and pants had small holes in them a week later....LOL
Those purge valves make that ticking sound from the very beginning when they are brand new. That is completely normal. A lot of people think that it's a lifter tick or a timing chain, but it is normal purge valve operation.
Nice one Ray man
back to the future ray truck has entered the video @27:45 :D
Good job… I feel educated today🎉🎉
Relatively straight forward A/C and Charging System diag, but always great to watch your process. Agree on the A/C on the condenser issue. No leak but definitely underperforming with those fins missing. I remember my Dad always put a screen in front of the radiator to catch the bugs, wondering if that would be a cheap addition to prevent the road debris damaging of the condenser. Thanks for another great video.
The 2cnd hour for the 'nader change was for the extra trip to the parts store, 'cause they knew.
One Ray, one cup
It’s been in my experience that when the high side pressure goes up like that, it’s because the fans aren’t running or the condenser needs to be replaced. Could not be flowing air through it, have a clog, or cooling fins missing. 🤷🏻♂️
Working on a few jobs at once is a great way to do things. With all the part shortages that we face today you need a few jobs going at once
Yes Ray , They sound like that brand new .... I have a K5 that clicks like that
I went though 2 duralast alternators on my 94 suburban, the 3rd one was falling apart when the guy took it out of the box, so I ran to orally and picked up an Ultima, only 105amp but been getting the job done so far.
Hell of a jump box!!
Funniest shock moment was in Ghost Busters. Where Bill Murray was doing an experiment with the effects of positive/ negative reinforcement on ESP abilities on male / female subjects. The guy was actually better at detecting what was on the back of a playing card he couldn’t see and got them wrong. But he still got zapped. The Hot Chick, even though wrong in terms of esp ability , never got zapped.
Great video..
I'm expecting a new alternator tomorrow in the mail! Hope it fixes my sudden "Christmas Tree" issue.
Never done an alternator before, but looks doable.
How did it go? Wishing the best
@@Malahoko Replaced the alternator, took maybe 30-40mins, and it fixed the issue!
I miss seeing you over the couple days
Good morning! Timely video. I’m working on a/c for my 79 Trans Am. It’s already hot in Florida
I like the two cars at once.
Our independent shop hasn’t had a great success rate with remanufactured alternators/starters from Oriellys/Autozone and Advanced Auto. Too many issues with their quality (mostly rebuilt in China and Mexico with cheap Chinese internal parts) We sourced a local rebuilder using quality internal parts/components.
On one side of the exp valve is high pressure saturated liquid--expands to a low pressure super-heated liquid. heat from the cabin air boils the liquid and low pressure gas enters the suction of the compressor. heat is removed from the cabin.
Hi Ray just wanted to tell u hi and as far as Mosquitoes, we use dryer sheet on our belt. Loop mosquitoes stay away
As usual I did enjoy the content that was a good job you did on that Kia and that ticking sound is normal for them my company that I work for we have all kias and they all have that ticking sound
37:10 oh yes, a benefits of being an honest shop, "my cars broken fix it"
Good morning Ray
Looking forward to the pentastar engine swap. Love the show.
Dual cool!
I love your 3500!!!
Hi Ray! Love your videos! As for Kia's cooling fans, they should run at low speed as long as the air conditioner compressor is running. The fan resistor seems to have broken down and needs to be bypassed or replaced. This will improve cooling and the high pressure will be stable.
The first thing I learned in US Navy AC & R school was a pressure-temperature relationship.
