2 . 2 lb = 1kg if that helps with the math conversion great video ray cheers
Mangled AC Compression!😮😮
10:04 Ray: Lady... "I never banged a Tahoe in my life"....
LOL.. me neither... too funny Ray
Thanks for the trip down memory lane in the mad house with the checkered tiled floors and the non stop ringing phones ..
maaan did you sound miserable back then
The temp was turned to hot and not the cold setting. Oops i just watched the part where you found it on hot LOL. Cart horse
After watching the old Camaro video, I noticed how much happier you sound nowadays with your own shop. WOW! I remember watching your videos while you were at that other shop and even at the dealership. Since you opened up your own shop, your overall mood and attitude in your videos has been so much happier, even on your “bad” days you still project more joy in your work than was evidenced in those older videos. That is so awesome! Thanks, Ray, for sharing your work and life with us strangers on the internet.
Ray you are the man! I love your videos… I learn much from you and thank you for that!
That’s the advantage of working for yourself. The $$$$ goes in his pocket, instead of some corporation, that could care less about you? Good for you Ray👍 Continued success, to you and the wifey unit:)
He should be thinking us too. Without the viewers he wouldn't have all the extra money to open his own place.
Kudos for not editing out the fact you didn’t have the A/C turned on. We learn from these ‘oopsies’ too.
100% agree. Would rather see reality than videos in which absolutely no mistakes are ever made
We've all had that moment lol. Makes one really appreciate when someone can openly admit they made a goof.
I'm only 5 mins in so far, and the moment he turned the "A/C" on at the beginning, I immediately seen the temp know to the right towards warm. I'm hoping later in the video he later realizes the mistake.
However, my first thought is that the blend door is busted. It's a notorious issue with the 5th gen. Happens from people keeping their temp knob maxed out to the left or right.
Grinding third gear, we found customer's legs are too short.
LOL! 😆
Move the seat up it will shift better 😂😅
Please quote for supply and fitment of auxiliary pedal height device "wooden blocks"
You killed me 😂
PEBSASW - problem exists between seat and steering wheel. This will be a nice video for me as I have a 2010 camaro 3.6L I've always wondered how much of a nightmare they are to work on.
I love the fact that you are willing to show mistakes, it shows you are a good and honest man. I wish you and your family the best!
Excellent work. I hope they come back for the steering rack replacement. And kudos to the Camaro at 170,000 miles, let's hope for 250,000 & beyond.
Put a sign on that door. OFFICE Two lefts will make you right
yeah, that door always bugs me..for what, maybe an investment of $1-2 for some peel-n-stick letter'n???...n' NO MORE "Door of Death"
I understood the AC diagnostic flow chart better than the open door customer flow process. LOL. (I'd be the customer standing there for 20 min looking confused.)
I’d repair the leak before repairing the air conditioner.
Side note, not sure if you remember me complaining about my Corolla AC and how I replaced every part and cannot get it to work as pressure dropped but no leak. Found out the high pressure line I replaced was defective. They did not drill the hole from the high pressure sensor hole to the port leading to the receiver dryer. Replaced it and now the AC is at 42.
Should have bought a Toyota.
@@thatman4752 ......... who do you think makes Corollas?

Don’t know much about cars do you!?😂
@@RainmanRaysRepairs you need a sign that says "OFFICE" on the inside and outside of the door so people know. Or maybe "CUSTOMERS ENTRANCE" so they know...
Agree, but a hanging sign above the door perpendicular to the door so you see it as you look into the bays. Maybe even get a fancy one with an arrow. Then another sign by the bay doors that states - "No customers allowed/Mechanic's only" or something to that effect, for liability purposes. One could even paint the door another color so it stands out.
People don’t read signs..ie: speed limit and the No parking in front of my wife’s parking space etc etc 😎
I wish I was within serviceable area, but recently found Preston auto repair in Myrtle Beach SC. Thanks for another great repair. Preston just recently replaced cam position uniit on my Ford 98 ranger 4.0 with 208 K. Could not get to it ( rear of engine no clearance) due to my age pushing 70. Wife bought Ranger in1999. Always did my own repairs and maintenance. Brakes, waterpump, pulgs, wires, tires, and other but time has caught up with myself. Thank you for your great video's.
I know the feeling. I still do my own maintenance, (thanks to having a lift), but I can feel it’s probably not going to be much longer. I’ve been retired 4 years. I bought a Ranger new in 99. I wished I had kept it.
Added that my friend’s son lives in Myrtle Beach. I’ll pass the name of the garage on to him.
As a fellow septuagenarian, I too have reached this plateau in my life where time has caught up with me. Oh that "youth" is wasted on the "young"!...
A day without brake clean is a day without sunshine!
Moving driver's seat one click forward can help with clutch lacking reach.
Robinaire guy advised me to vacuum for minimum of 20 minutes for the benefit of the life of the pump in the machine. Also to charge on both sides and if it slows, just close the high side port and start the ac.
Nice surprise Sunday afternoon video. Thanks!
Penestar is a good engine. When you realize how many vehicles it has been in the reliability rate is really not bad percent of failure against number sold. As a pro mechanic of 45 years I know of many other engines that fall at a higher rate percentage wise.
Yay, Ray.
Wasn't expecting a video today but love the surprise. 😊
Nice Camaro, Like the Manual Transmission. Sweet...
In Jimmy,s shop they put in 5 aftermarket rack and pinions and finally had to put in a OEM and it’s fixed
Thanks Ray. It was short, but concise! I really enjoyed this one
Ray ty for making my Sunday complete i was not expecting such a fruitful video great work bruhh!!😊😊
Very informative video, thanks Ray for sharing.
Another great video. For switching from Kgs to lbs always multiply by 2.2. 0.54X2.2=1.188lbs
I really enjoy watching your videos and always give them a thumbs-up! I typically use pop-up and ad blockers while browsing the internet, but you are on my list of content creators whose ads I allow. This is my way of showing appreciation for the time you have spent creating the videos that I enjoy. 🍻👍👍🆙
Over the last two months, I have done blend doors on two of these, the first a 2010 SS, second one just this past week a 2015 with the 3.6. On my other channel, there's a video showing what all comes out of the car to do the blend door (the windshield comes off too). It's a big job!
I am just so glad your business is growing and going good! Best wishes to you, your bride and all the crew there. 👍
I understand as much as anyone that money is at premium, especially now. The problem with declining the steering gear replacement is that it's messy and only going to get worse.
thankyou Ray,have a great day,,👌👍
As usual I love the content and thank you very much for sharing it with us
I was gonna say, make sure the driver uses the clutch on every gear change! 😂
I love the way wife unit remembers the faults. Wife Unit runs the shop, and your just a spanner guy.
In a pinch, Dorman sells a brass fitting (902-025) that screws into the ball style valve to stop leaks until the whole assembly can be replaced.
Nicely done Ray!
Wow, its so simple to do conversions from kg to g, just wonderful...
That power steering leakage is crazy. Active flowing leak. Honestly i wouldnt drive it until it was fixed. Thats bad enough where dude could lose power steering mid drive, smoke the pump, and have to get real strong real quick.
While still yeah, but while rolling, no
he quoted $800? for GM, aftermarket 1/2 price
Don’t forget your temp gauge
for future info always look at the hi side valve first if it has that black center piece in it when you hook your hi side to it just to check pressure 9 out ten times it will leak when you remove your coupler so i always tell the customer before i check the system this will occur and if it wasnt leaking it probably will and then you will have to go threw that evac and recharge with a valve change. i go back with a dorman 800-955, dorman does come thru once in awhile
Wish we had here in Maine more techs like u/! Techs here are few and far between we have good ones but not many love it show I learn a lot from ur channel rob
thanks Ray
I watched that video and you have good recollection. Good video.
When shifting if you rev match the clutch is needed
Thank you for another great video. Cheers
2013 170k miles, my 07 only has 133k. Someone drove the wheels off of that bowtie. As for grinding, always push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor when shifting, it's even possible to speed shift that way, take it from a guy who used to race a 78 Transam with a Hurst manual racing trans put in it.
When you said it was an ac problem my first thought was ( Here goes the dreaded blend door fiasco with 5th gen Camaros!) I live in Florida and own a Camaro and would definitely have you work on mine, if i didn't work on mine myself. love the content!
My Nissan Primera had a steering leak like that at 4 years old. Nissan quoted £1200 + £800 labor to replace. I got it fixed at a PS specialist reconditioning outfit for £600 all up - and they added a second o-ring on the input shaft to deal with the known leaking issue those PS units had. It was still solid 16 years later when the car was scrapped
Remember nothing is cheaper only less expensive.
The grinding in 3rd and 4th could be that the synchronizer in the trans is worn to the point that when it is heat soaked it is a little bit out of alignment.
I've learned quite a bit about car air conditioners from Ray. Definitely helped me talk the talk to the repair shop when my son's AC went out. Made sure they replaced both Schrader valves instead of just the bad one. And I wasn't going to pay them to charge it twice while they troubleshot it. That t-shooting fill was comp'd.
Whoa
check out tom lech hes a true ac guy if you want more good info about ac
We have found that type fluid plays a huge factor in these transmissions. It may have the incorrect fluid.
3,5 million views! Thanks for the link.
I had a 2012 VW Passat that had a 2-3 grind but only when the transmission warmed up. Had to put a new 3rd gear syncro in it.
No matter what vehicle you have its key to properly maintain it. I know it's expensive at times but, a lot of shops will let you make payments or, will work something out. It would cost more if you let it go. Just some friendly advice to everyone who owns a vehicle.
Nice job!
Lol, I’m on my second remote with the missing buttons. I usually wait till all the buttons are missing before I replace. Can find the remotes on the internet and they are not expensive. I bought 3 in one time and have one new one left before I need to restock.
How about a bright red office sign?
I've been to a few shops that could use an "Office" sign. A choice of two doors. You end up in front of or behind the counter!
Excellent vid
I LIKE these afternoon (for us on the left coast) video uploads. It's a nice change of pace.
There’s a funny phenomenon with those cars the AC acts up also power steering is funny. Sometimes the transmission act up because if the AC compressor shot and messes up something with electrical for a don’t ask, I don’t know also I just needs a new crankshaft position sensor
Just before you said it, I was going to post the transmission problem looked to be lazy foot issue
How lucky you are to have "Lauren the memo" around😊
The fact that Lauren knew the car and it's anamnesis from the top of her head shows how well in place she performs her role in the company. Lucky Ray!
If that is a T56 the shift pads which are nylon instead of brass break off after a couple years. Also the the reverse goes out. I had my T56 in my 95 Pontiac Trans Am and had to have synchronizing gear parts, shift pads, front and rear bearings, and sum other rebuild parts
In the video he linked for the old camaro 2 years ago @ 11:43 "Time to let her down so I can fill er up... Giggity"
I knew my giggities were normal
I have an 07 Tacoma, it's finally demanding some well deserved parts 2 years ago A/C Compressor ( shop screwed up the install) , cat back exhaust because of Michigan road cancer ( shop screwed up the install ) , and last year a rack and pinion, it was crazy expensive, got a new Toyota unit for $1038.00, the rebuilt option was $858.00 and the off brand $798.00, I figured for only $200+ difference I might as well go with the New Toyota unit, I felt the rebuilt and off-brand should've been a couple hundred cheaper and I would've made my decision between them. Of course I went with a different shop and they did a great job and fixed the A/C compressor ( one of the lines was crossthreaded and ripped the O-Ring but they didn't tighten it up enough to ruin the threads so an O-Ring and proper screwing ( I guess thats what I got from the first shop ) got it fixed, the second shop didn't charge me for fixing the A/C issue. I also had the second shop finish the tierods and they had to special order a steering hose. I paid about $800 for all the work the second shop did and they also did some other minor stuff such oil change, fluid check, check the U-Joints, brakes etc. At least I found a good shop, it took 3 weeks to get all the parts in.
I wish you were closer to California, I need and oil pan resealed.
Ray, get two signs featuring an arrow one for the door and one for the wall that point to the office and feature the mandalorian and say this is the way!
you could have a sign on the front RAINMAN RAYS REPAIRS .and a arrow pointing to the office.
That p/s leak is bad, I hope they let you fix it soon. That V6 setup is probably very similar to what's in my 2015 Colorado. Wish you were closer so I could have you service it. I'm not as flexible as I once was and also treat myself to having someone service it.
Must be a no safety Sunday, no beep beep for safety after finding the correct reverse 😅😂
That's a good sound for the mechanics it's a sad sound for the owner of the car
I always replace those rubber valves with standard schraeder valve replacements. Seems like every time I take my hoses off those things leak.
instant thumbs up for singing breaking the law
might benefit from some new mtf anyway, my car (not a camaro but is a gm did) wasnt as smooth as it should have been but is great since the oil change.
Hello Ray.
I thought the same thing, the owner isn’t depressing the clutch pedal enough.
Hey, i have one of those self-lubing chassis! My 05 Armada has the dreaded oil pressure sensor fault/leak and I'm too disabled to get under there to fix it. Also got a possible fuel pump/injector problem because I get 8mpg and has a cylinder down. At times it kicks in and runs like a top, though. I already did plugs and coils, so definitely a fuel issue
Oh yeah. Those oil filter housing leaks. 😂. Guarantee job security 😂😂😂
I ALWAYS Replace the black ball valves with a Dorman 800-955. Its a direct replacement with a standard schrader thats replaceable and doesnt leak after the first time you hook to it. Its the ONE THING Dorman has ever done right. Its also the 8 sided valve and a perfect fit.
I had an issue with a GM manual transmission grinding. It turned out to be low fluid. Just a thought!
Watched the Camaro video from the dealership 2yrs ago ! The phone rang 3 times and you didn't do your do dodo do! Any way I had my thumbs up on the video so I previously watched it! Your dirty glove test and comments cracked me up !
And , getting the right amount of oil in the a/c system, even trickier.
Don't forget your thermometer in the dash outlet.
Welcoming back!
Loved the knod to the Beavis and Butthead show.. "breaking the law, breaking the law"..😅
It was actually "washing the dog, washing the dog" Every time now when I hear Judas Priest Breaking the Law, I start singing washing the dog, washing the dog.😆
I once had two Impalas. The GM steering racks all leaked when you started the third year they were on the car. During 14 years of ownership the steering racks were replaced four times. Back then it was a $1,200.00 repair. The shop said all of them leaked on the 2000 through 2005 Impalas. Doesn't look like the Camaro is any different.
Oil leaks are nice.
Hello Ray, how you doing. If the customer doesn't want to splash out for a new steering rack, can you get the OEM parts from the dealers to reconditioned the steering rack .
I do like to think laterally, but have you thought of putting a sign on the door of death that says "Office"
Sound effects Ray for the brake cleaner 😮
I found a tool you may want to purchase from Mastercool. You can use it to remove the Schrader valves with the system full of refrigerant. Pretty cool but not sure if it would have helped on the Camero.
It doesn't work on the rubber valve style fittings.
Pauline’s understanding of boxing technique is amazing. Example “ Devin is square up against s puncher” and demos how to when you are square you have to lean backwards which is awkward..
I agree you probably did misdiagnose it
You want to talk about sad Camaros? The early '80s ones had a 4-cylinder engine option, due to gas shortages and so on. Car rental companies loved 'em.
Or you could out a "TO OFFICE" sign on the door and a large left facing arrow sign visible after they open the door.
You know Ray, you could hang up a sign that has an arrow and office on it lol
Love independent shops. Except Croms " Transmission" and repair, in Jacksonville, N.C. They burned me pretty good, on purpose.
Typical vehicle owner in 2024: fix AC but not your ability to steer a car
Power steering fluid leak doesn't really cause a hazard in the steering department.
@@Noksus Lol when you lose power assist going 65mph you'll learn real quick. Double the fun if you have a hydroboost.
Yes, I watched the video twice you did. He was trying to switch it for a bunch of things.
Nice Self-Lubricating Chasise System is working 💪 😅
