That oil pan contains the bearing sea
Lol
Well played.
Haha, nice.
Check mate 😅
Niiiice
My daughter hates it when I tell her to check the oil and take it to get it serviced. I am using this video to teach her what happens when she doesn't service the engine properly.
Well done Ray!
Well, some kids have to learn on their own. Meaning, if SHE paid for the car and it blows up....SHE can pay for the repairs. Sometimes the most PAINFULL lessons are the ones that stick with us.............
I remember my sister asking dad what the blue warning light on the console meant. Even I at 13 knew that was the oil level warning. She said it had been shining for perhaps two months. Now that was the fun with old cars before electronics and later computers made their way into the engine bay. They might have warning lights but even if the oil went dry it would continue working at full strength until it seized.
Dad filled up the oil and tested the compression. He said it was turning like a coffee grinder, which was his way of saying the compression was shoot. He never checked the bearings or anything. Still that car lived for another ten years without him having to do anything about the engine. It wasn't performing as new, but it kept up at highway speed and got my sister where she needed to be.
When I was young, I hated the thought of walking everywhere even more--which was a real possibility.
I told my daughter that it's much easier to check the oil every time you add gas than it is to buy a new engine. She's very religious about checking!
Your daughter seems like a real winner. Thank today's wonderful education system...
Good to see Dave getting more involved on camera work.
Contractual.
Proof?
Forbidden glitter
last quote reminds of "Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first bionic man."
Dave has got a nice Spirit. I see why you hired him Ray. Very nice adage to the people around you and your Family.
As the great Bill Murray said......BLOWN UP SIR.
Stripes!
Love that movie
@@Sharky762 I enlisted, in part, because of that movie.
Ray, when I worked on airplanes, it was standard procedure to inspect every filter during an oil change. We would place the filter in a bench vice grip upside down and then run the tool around the top. Better leverage, less mess, and easier on the falanges.
You can't park an airplane on a cloud if it runs out of oil😢
It had not occurred to me that someone actually manufactures a 'filter opener'. Who knew?
"Well, you've got barley in your engine!"
Thats barely an engine.
Pearl barley.
@@wayneessar7489Most will say..WHO? But not I.
Barley any oil, oh well! Try and do better next go around, the words of the young generation.
At the 9:45 mark on the video, when you were looking at the folds in the oil filter, the third hand that comes into shot ? Scared the crap out of me !! I totally wasn’t expecting anyone else to be there. Ray has a third arm ! 😂🤣
So that's why wife unit said Ray's heath is getting better , he was bitten by a radioactive Shar pai, and he grew a third arm? 😅😂
That was just a glitch in the matrix
Good morning Ray,Dave, wife unit and shop dog
I just say shop dog or a shop cat too or mosquitoes.
I enjoy seeing Dave in your videos, nice to include him👍👍
Dave would felt if it blew up while he was behind the wheel😂
The true definition of Heavy Metal!
Zoom Zoom Boom!
Not is this case, no Zoom, Zoom in a van. Putt, putt, more likely.
Speed3's love to ZZB
@@troynilsonyeah that 2.3 is a bucket of garbage. Not fast. Not reliable.
Hope your having a great week Ray!
Morning Ray and Dave ! All the best to you both.
I love these early morning uploads. Perfect start to my morning before work, coffee and Ray!
Hello Dave! 😁 Great to see your smiling face in the shop! That Mazda engine has added a whole new meaning to the term "Glitter Bomb!"
No Mark Rober required.
Good morning RAY and Dave Good to see you guys working together,
Hi Dave! I Love it when you show what happens when you don't service your car regularly. Another good video Ray.
It’s midnight here in Hawaii. Happy Thursday.
Morning Ray and Dave!
Hi Dave, thank for the awesome job ya do, keep up the good work, and like always, thanks for the experience, keep em coming
Hi Dave!! Good going man!! Keep up the good work!
That #2 bearing/rod was pretty smoked, for sure. Some lack of lubrication from either low oil or some other reason, no matter - it made that engine scrap metal. Am looking forward to the subsequent videos of the engine replacement. Thanks, Ray!
Hi Dave!!
Good morning to Ray, Dave, and the boss, Wife Unit!!! I have had many Mazdas, this one seems to deserve a new engine and better care
Great video guys as usual. Thanks
Hi Dave!
thanks Dave and Ray
Hi Dave!!!! Im Happy to see your doing well since your Illness. Love your Video's.
Hi Ray and Dave! Love the carnage!
Good morning Ray. Mazda engine is at least two packs a day smoker. When the engine mounts a rockin, the engine definitely a knockin.😅
From Dave in California, Hey Dave. You're becoming a star😊
If you get the barley runs, you should probably cut back on your beer consumption.
🥴 😂
😂
Wish I had a Tech like yourself close by! Smart and fair!! Hi Dave! lol! Cheers guys!
Hi Dave!!! I like the I do cars crossovers!
Thanks Ray!!! Hi Dave!!
The Road Kill Charger used to be in that stall. Would like to see more of that one.
had one of these. no problems. cant wait to see what went wrong
He showed it din̈głus
Ray! That’s a MAZDASPEED 3! Loved mine, great cars. Super fun to drive. It was very reliable for me.. only had one major issue and it was a high pressure fuel line leak.
Hi Dave hope your days going well
Hi Ray, Hi Dave. Have a great day!!!
Legend has it customer drove away no repairs needed😎
Hello Ray and Dave that's nuts good job guys
Thanks for sharing
Looking forward to running this without bearings.... Yeah Baby!
You Can Do It !!!!!!
Good morning Ray and Dave
Big job you guys will get it nice work ray shes smoked hi Dave great job bro you couldn't be in better hands working for a great tech soak it all in
G’day Dave from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺😁👍
Been changing my own oil on all my vehicles since early 90s. Latest 23 4Runner had a lot of break in metal at 700km. And still had metal at 1300km. And no metal at 2500km……but the initial amount was the most I have seen in a new vehicle.
HI DAVE!! I'm looking forward to this engine swap. Have an awesome day. See you on the next one!
Hi Dave.
Good day to you, Ray!
Hi, Dave 👋
That is a whole lot of forbidden glitter.
Ray is a man who loves his job....but not enough to do it twice 😂
I do enjoy the investigative videos to find the reason for the destruction. Hey Dave🤘🤘
I’d check the engine coolant to make sure there’s no forbidden milkshake in there! That might be where the oil was hiding out. 😊
this was caused by owner neglect, these 2.3 mazda turbo motors are pretty reliable. I have friends that bought them new who have 200k+ reliable miles on them.
I don't have the Mazda 3, but the P5 wagon and it's almost at 200K on it. the 2.0 FSDE 4 pot, naturally aspirated. Pretty tough little motors.
The crankcase was way too clean for neglect.
@@markschmalenberger8301because the owner had a fresh oil change and probably new bearings installed before he brought it to Ray to confirm the carnage
That new oil filter did it's job, but it's too late
@@markschmalenberger8301 Would be interested to see what is lying up top under the valve (cam) cover.. figure that part of the engine will show more details, sludge, or whatnot.. betting when the bearings were replaced and that pan was originally dropped, the carnage was cleaned out of it. All i do know for sure, is if it were my car, i would have replaced the engine, turbo, turbo cooler, and any oil lines involved, in fear of introducing metal shavings into the new engine.
As John Candy says on the Farm Film Report, "Blowed up, blowed up real good!"
I tried the replacement bearing method in a Saab 9-5 I bought cheap and it had 2 desintgraded rod bearings. Needless to say it didn't work and destroyed them emeditly. It also destroyed all the cam bearings from the fine metal acting like sand paper and destroyed the turbo bearings too but I didn't realize it till after I reused the old turbo on the replacement engine.
just a knocking after midnight🎹🎶🎵
Super video! HI DAVE!!!
Hey Ray, put the filter in a vice and spin the handle. Works great.
It’s purring nicely 🤣
Forbidden glitter 😮😮😮
So wonder why oil pan was off before.......
I like the way Dave looks, clean cut and well dressed, to me it shows professionalism. Last fall I went to walley-world to get tires, and most of the "associates" was blue hair ear ring nose ring tattoo shop junkies with sloppy dress, but the one who put my tires on was dressed ok and did a fast great job on my 04 Liberty and I saved $300.00. But my 2018 Cherokee is going to a professional tire shop where they should look like professionals and should know tire sensors and pay the full price.............
The metallic oil prevents the zoom zoom.
Hi Ray. It looked like Dave had already demonstrated what the lack of bearings does to a crankshaft.
the 2nd Gen Mazdaspeed 3 does have quite a few differences. I had a 2013 for 8 years, the stock K04 turbo has a magnesium alloy shaft. With enough high revs you can snap it messing up your o-rings and send oil right into the turbo. The transmissions are also known to have bad synchros leading to sloppy shifts and having to really slam it into gear which leads to money shifts sending rpm through the roof.
Hi Dave ! 😊
Detective Ray on the case with his loyal sidekick Dave😂
Dave! Rock on.
You said "Drop the cradle out of it" All I could think of was "Where's the damn baby"!!!
Interesting filter cutting tool. Talk about your specialty tools!!
Which bearing let go?
Yes
i missed alot i feel lol Hi Dave.. last i seen there was Troy... now their 2 new guys..i clearly missed too much lol
10:47 I see what you did there. Bearing. Buried. Lol
Hi Ray! Hi Dave!
quite a collection of hardware you have been acquiring lately from destroyed engines.
Damn i just commented about this last night! Sounds like my old Wolfsburg Jetta 2.0t that seized.
Also, HI DAVE!
Hi Dave, from Canada!
As soon as your socket touched the #2 rod cap bolt..😂
I picked up my nice Honda CRV from a college student who never changed the oil. I got it for $600 and a good JDM engine for $600. (That is pre-pandemic pricing.) Did the rest of the neglected maintenance and I have been running it for 4 years and about 240K miles.
It could also be called pre-Biden pricing. :)
Wow, you drove over a thousand miles every single week for four years?
Free .99 good one Ray !😃
Hi Dave thumbs up 👍
Oh? Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
Good day ray and hi Dave
Hi Dave! Waiting for the obligatory wife unit appearance :-) Cheers Ray... 1 minute of 18:33.............
holy smoke looks like a glitter bomb went off!!!
surprised you were able to get it on the rack.
Hey Dave hope ray hasnt corrupted you too much yet😁😁
Tear down with this one as well???
Hey Dave, from Dave. Low oil, overfilled, bent rods, ect, ect
I bought a car like that once (Dodge Stratus). The oil pickup tube had sheered off and dropped into the oil pan. The girl driving the car just kept driving. The result was that the center main bearing seized and I got a great car for a great price. I changed the engine and drove it for years.
Interesting, Hello Dave
That heavy thing is a counter balance pack.
8:30 if you put a starter cut on the line made by the cutting wheel, . . .
The crank isn't showing the burn marks you would expect if the shells had "spun" . There's not enough debris to account for 2 shells disintegrating completely. But the grinding damage is consistent with the rod and journal being closely acquainted with each other. I may be wrong but it looks like somebody forgot to put a new pair of shells in #2 rod when doing a quick and dirty big end bearing slap after a total oil loss.
Cheers Eric E
High Dave!👍
The barley special! 😉
CZcams must be having problems I didn't get a notification for this video.
Yeah good morning Ray 🌄 I hope you had your nice cup of java ☕ today lol 😂.
Hi Dave...
