You are right Ray. Modifications are not everyones interest, but while your video was playing I cooked a nice breakfast, and the wife and I ate it on the patio. You got your views and play time, I got breakfast, and everyone is happy. Thanks for sharing this with those who were interested.
Something akin to a hillbilly on the front porch sitting on rocking chair whittling a piece of wood🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱👻
It would help at least 'SOME' if shop dog showed up. . .😏😊
Like pouring BBQ sauce on TV Dinners 😁😋
And now the virtual reality glasses and full self drive
And more tweeters for the Bird aviator 🛌
Just as long as the air bags work😏
Don't spray tweeters Ray, you'd need to remove the grille from the tweeter to spray the grille.
Agreed, and then he installed it upside down
Ditto
@@jeffschnee1167 He turned it rightside up later. It shows at 37:39
I know, I literally said out loud "Don't paint the tweeter" REEEEEE! LOL
@@jeffschnee1167 Does that mean if he plays Beatles music he will learn that "Paul is the walrus"?
I would have pulled the speaker out of the housing before painting it, just to be sure no paint got onto the cone.
I agree. pull the poor little tweeter first.
Ahh that ain't going to make any noticeable difference
It would if it were a decent dome tweeter, but this is a Bose, the cheapest of the cheap in my experience. Used to repair/replace drivers for a high-end stereo store. You'd get the hopeful people who'd bring in blown Bose crud, totally brainwashed by advertising. No way you could tell 'em Bose was rubbish, they wouldn't hear of it! It's kind of like Taryl the lawnmower guy turning away two-stroke weedwackers some housewife thinks could be repaired for $20, when a new one is $79 and labor rate is $80/hr. A $2 blown Bose woofer is $50 trade, and worth nothing. The tweeters? Not worth 50 cents.
Meawhile, Eric at SMA finds these cold air Kate and Nancy filters ruins fuel trims on the 5.3. That'll be the next episode here -- how come my engine light is on? Coming at you soon. When we all discover the large diameter pipe screws up the airflow over the hot wire mass airflow meter. For the second time.
@BillMalcolm-tn3kq it may be a poor quality speaker, but it is the clients speaker, I was thinking more along the lines of rays liability. The client says my speaker is damaged, pay for a new one ... and uses the paint dots on it to justify.
Ray i still say the one place you use to work at that fired you did you a big favor look ware you are now have a reputable business you have employees and you have expanded and you are doing great and you are your own boss now that has to feel great.
He quit he never got fired.
@alexscott9605 uhh you must be new to the channel he was definitely Fired From his last job. Ray infact has a whole episode on him being Fired SIR!!!!
@@alexscott9605he was let go
@alabamared2568 He didn't he walked away because they wanted a slice of what he was earning off his youtube channel.
@@davebigdog but he wasn't exactly fired he wasn't prepared to give in to their demands it was an amicable split.
This was one of my favorite videos you've made. Just want you to hear from the people who *do* enjoy this content.
Keep making videos ray. I rather watch you then watching negative TV news
I was driving an Army Duce-and-a-half and the hood flew up at 50 mph while transporting rockets, 5.56, and grenades for Cobra qualifications. You can drive a 2.5 ton military truck with your head sticking out of the drivers window. Funny, when it happened I didn't panic, at least not as much as the guy behind me. He was hauling 20mm and TOW missiles.
I had a hood open on me at race track, time slip said 112.8 mph. needed to change underwear before the next run!
this mod reminds of when we would put playing cards in our bicycle spokes to mimic a motorcycle.
Now your Ray's auto clinic, fancy.
I love these kinds of videos. Everybody has different likes and dislikes. They can skip the video, just make sure they stay subscribed and like the video because some people really like updating their interiors and adding tasteful gadgets.
All of the Banks Products are First Class. I look at things like the connectors, wiring harness and fitment. Everything is engineered and well thought out. Yes, I do like your performance upgrades.
First class but the fitment is off
When your rotary tool sounds like the T-Rex from Jurassic Park!
Your video came on and I have a idash duel with peddle monster. I said hell no! Went out and installed it. Now I watched your video and loved it. Thanks Ray and wife unit for doing these videos. I've been following you since the beginning and I tell everyone about you. Do do-do.
Another awesome performance upgrade. Very informative and easy to install. Keep up the good work
Good morning Ray 🌄 another gorgeous day all right all right the Tahoe is back with some performance upgrade 😎👍👍
Modification is entertaining. Although I don't own an SUV, I enjoy this kind of content.
I don't usually comment on anything on CZcams. But with some videos of the banks products. You have influenced me to purchase a cold air intake for my personal vehicle. Keep doing what you doing Ray
How do you like it?
@RainmanRaysRepairs big difference on temps. More suction into the turbos. Overall very satisfied on the product

RIP tweeter.. time for upgrade.
I have a 2016 Colorado with 3.6 that got a Pedalmonster about a year ago. LOVE IT! Took delivery of an iDash and suction mount last week and installed it. That gauge is amazing! Already ordered a 3D printed mount to replace the defroster vent and do away with the suction cup mount. Glad you are back in the saddle Ray!
Good morning Ray glad to be here
Always look forward to your content Ray, I can honestly say I have learned a lot, keep the content coming bud!
I installed the pedal monster and iDash on my 2013 5.3L. Definitely helped with the throttle lag “weak pedal” feel on the vehicle, made a very noticeable difference.
Ray, not critisizing but you should remove the speaker before painting. Paint gets on the speaker diaphram unit. In this case it was so small it probably wouldn’t hurt. Big speakers are even more easily damaged.
I believe one of the earliest applications of "fail-safe" technology was in early railroading. The Westinghouse air brake for trains used air pressure to keep the brakes released. Loss/failure of air pressure caused the brakes to apply.
This was very interesting and engaging for me. I need to look into these. 😊
36:36 Ray that's a microphone for handsfree calling through the vehicles radio
What the speaker 😅
@@darksteve84 No the black thing at the top of the A Pillar
Hey Ray, interesting video with some different content. You did a nice job of the install. Cheers!
I don`t mind as everything you show is a learning curve for me
Welcoming back!
Nice lookin pillar ray! Very professional looking!
Nice one Ray
I LOVE the "remnove before dealer visit" tag at 16:00 😂
I really did enjoy this content that was great
It sure is a dream of mine to have all these customizations in my car. Really like Banks!
Your welcome Ray!
Good morning Mr Ray hope y'all have a good day
Humm, Banks should take note, and supply a Foam seal kit with those airboxes.
2:08 That looks like copper tubing line set insulation that is ran out the wall to the AC condenser
I would bet 1/2" copper tube insulation used to keep pipes from freezing, i know you dont have that problem on Florida but most the rest of the County can pick it up at a big box store in plumbing.
I like that. Banks made slots in side of Pedal Monster for ZipTie
BANKS baby! I have the stand alone pedal monster, and I love it!!!! I had the pedal commander and it bricked my throttle!!! JUNK. Returned it and got the best BANKS!!!!
Very nice instalation
Nice job Ray.
I too have a unlatched hood story, pre change of the millennium, road testing a used Wrangler on a rainy day in the SF Bay Area. 😳
I didn't have to change my underwear, but I've never had that happen since I've 😅
Fantastic video Ray... Glad the Cust decides to investiga some money in that Tahoe... Hope to see the high Flow exhaust video when available.
I use a Milwaukee rotary tool with a 60 grit band on a low setting to trim my dogs’ nails. They love nail trimming day. I know, weird. When you fired up your rotary tool, my dogs recognized the sound and perked up.
I have a Blue Driver. Cheap Scan tool I use to scan buddy’s truck. One I like is OBD Link MX. it scans diesel ReGen functions
I just installed my PedalMonster controller w/ gauge yesterday on my 2019 RAM 1500. I didn't buy the A-pillar mount, but the suction cup mount works well.
I used black electrical tape to tie the cables together instead of zipties. Mine doesn't have the safety backup feature, so I must be cautious. I can't imagine anyone using Level 10 in track mode.
I mistakenly had the engine running when I calibrated the accel pedal, but the engine leveled out at around 3000 RPM. Thanks for the tips Ray.
It’s 5:20am here in the U.K.
4:30 AM in Alberta Canada now I have to milk the cows

Ray, just my unprofessional 2¢ .. You should have mocked up the gages to the pod prior to paint. Then give the paint a longer cure time which would possibly have prevented the scratching. Moreover I would have removed the physical Bose speaker from its plastic home to prevent paint contaminating the speaker...other than my whiny babble...I love you man 😎
Didn’t catch this morning’s episode with my coffee…It’s almost 5 o’clock so I’m having a beer. 😎 beers
Thanks for this video. I had no idea these existed. I assumed everything Banks was just for diesel pickups. I have a turbo charged car with several gauges in it, including dual Aeroforce scan gauges. Plus a separate AFR, oil pressure & voltage gauge. I like the Aeroforce gauges but one of these could easily replace them in my car. Plus they seem to be much easier to read. It’s time for a change up.
Ray that boost pressure is the next upgrade for this customer (turbo unit from banks Have a good day Ray no hood flying off
Texas with the hospitality once again ☝️
Pretty Chevy! Almost as pretty as Wife Unit, (Gotta make points when I can)
For my 2006 chevy cobalt i needed that pedal monster. I would hit foot to the floor and 0 to 60 was like 10 seconds
The Dremel sounded like the dentist office.
😨
I get free dental from the VA.
Good day, ray and hello to Dave
Another great installation, but I do not believe that that was a PTT mini pry driver you were using 😂😂
BANKS for the win👍👍
Should just sprayed some of the paint in the cap and use a paint brush to touch up scratches lot less headache
I might hit you up to install one of those passenger dash board display in my Mustang. It is pretty neat, shows speed, rpm and other readouts. I tried to do it myself and I couldn't get the pin wires (2 of them) out but I have the tool now...
Nice job..
I just installed an electronic throttle controller in my car today too, coincidence. Not a Banks as I'm in Australia, so got one that should perform similarly. It also has a digital gauge and many, many functions, and only took half an hour at most to install.
Awesome video, dual Banks gauges looking good. Ray, I used your link to order a setup for my Ram 2500. Banks website also has a rolling discount code. You just have to get the site to show it to you. Click on a SKU of an item you are looking at, then highlight the number. Next right click and select copy, when you select copy a discount code popup will appear that can then be used in the shopping cart at checkout.
Thanks!
Thx JAMES!
@@RainmanRaysRepairs No problem man! I hope that dye I sent you helps you out on any future hard to pinpoint oil leaks. It works similar to the green stuff for the ACs.
Ray is cool and I think he likes money. If there is a company worth buying “extras” from, I’d say Banks is one of those companies.
Happy Dave is there
Not me, I must be UP at 3:30 am everyday to go to work.
I stopped be a vampire long time ago. Lol
and the greasy fingermarks are free and a great primer for paint.
I had a hood open at 112.8 mph according to the time slip! Just ordered the Banks cold air kit for LBZ. Thanks
Nice!! It’s a beauty!
I think there is a strong possibility you just spoilt that tweeter
No. The tweeter sits away from the grill that little, if any, spray reached the tweeter.
He sprayed the paint at an angle, not directly at the grill which prevents over spray
What are the chances? I literally this week before buying this same setup for my 17'Ram 2500 6.4 found this video. Thanks for posting! Very cool vid.
When you upgrade the intake it's always a good idea to upgrade the exhaust system for better flow.
I just noticed when you started it back up for the test drive the gage readout switched gages.
I had a 'bonnet incident' on a '58 MGA back in the last century. I never had bolts in the hood hinges so it was easy to remove the hood for service. That was no problem because the hood hinges went under the cowl in the rear and couldn't come off that way... BUT if one did not have the FRONT of the hood securely latched and the hood pins installed, the hood would fly up and completely remove itself from the car.
One evening I forgot to put the hood pins in... and the hood flew up and over the car completely. I watched in the rear view as the hood floated upside down to the side of the road and landed without damage in the weeds on the side of the road. I got lucky! Needless to say that I never forgot the hood pins again!
Part of own8ng a car is making it yours whether you keep it stock or modify it
Love speed I have zl1 Camaro a TRX AND A pro charged R/T life is great ❤
Oh plus a 30 year old girlfriend I’m 74 lol 😅
I did that on my 1967 Chevy pick up Luckily the only thing that happened was it flew up and yes I had to do the Ace Venture till I stopped still scare the hell out of me even worse it was dark
Be nice to see a dyno pull before or afterwords with air intake. See what go gains might be and is it worth the price. Why didn’t you pull the tweeter speaker out before painting it?
Damn good job Chief.
Thank you CZcams for trying to force us to watch two 25 minute and a 58 minute commercial in this video. They must be desperate. Great content Ray. We need to send you a troll doll to sit on the time clock.
And they pick dopey people to role a scam.

Ray----> Modern Day Mr. Rodgers, and like Mr. Rodgers for viewers of all ages 😊
First fit, then paint... 😁
I cant tell what kind of oil you prefer 😏 nice touch.
I want these on my 05 silveryrado 5 3 soooooo bad
What cool features this module has. The only issue we would have is that it uses the obe2 which gets used by if you want an insurance reduction the module has nowhere to go or in our state, the emissions test is done through the obe2 so it would have to be disconnected for them to properly test the vehicle.
I was watching you work on the install of the gauges and was thinking that you might have been able to have applied some masking tape to the plastic gauge holder to keep the gauges from scuffing the plastic. In regards to spraying the the speaker portion it would have been advisable to have removed the speaker. Pain is going to make the speaker material hard and brittle and not function. Keep up the good work and always enjoy your vids.
I would vote for the train horns to become the next doodely-doos
I personally like those mods and would use them myself if I had a car and one that is compatible with Banks mods. I find them quite helpful. Some may not but it all comes down to preference doesn't it.
If you have the phone app you can change the drive mode from there and it changes on the iDash as well. No reaching up to the actual gauge.
I had a 89 ford escort hood latch break and let go at 55 mph and yes that is very scary!
Once the paint dries on the pillar cover, I would use an exacto knife to remove the overspray on the gage. The paint is easy to remove on such a small area.
become authorized banks dealer/installer lol would be nice. addition to my truck doesn't have the type for it. although nice neat setup.
Nice install, Ray. Too rich for my blood but I can appreciate well made components.
Ray next time instead of respray, spray a Q-tip removing ⅔ of the cotton swab before spraying. In doing so, you've just created a mini paint brush!
had the hood open on a caravan sold to an elderly guy fly open used the right mirror to pull over , scary time
Adding on aftermarket stuff usually causes issues. Maybe not at first
Ray as a custom stereo installer in my past, do remove the speaker from the pod before repainting.. luckly its a Bose and more than likely a paper tweeter, a little residue shouldnt hurt . also on your gauge pods...fitting the Banks gauges.. heat the ABS plastic with a heat gun in those corner instead of the dremal. that way it will "mold" around the gauge as you press it into the softened plastic. let it cool with the gauge in place. Then paint everything... use a piece of thin paper between the gauge and the plastic as you are putting it inot place and you wont scratch the fresh painted area.
How ironic that yesterday's post was on an over tuned exploded engine 😂
Really wish they made more for the Gen 2 Colorado 3.6L
