Tacoma vs the "Diagonal Test" Hill
zhlédnutí 698Před 2 lety
We're back on the diagonal hill with the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road! This is a test. The objective here is to take the obstacle slow and force the systems at play to do their job. The goal is not just to complete the obstacle, but rather to learn and become more familiar with the vehicle, its ability in 4x4, and the electronic traction control system (A-TRAC / Multi-Terrain Select). Maxtrax MKII: amzn.to/3kyK3ig A buddy in is 2005 LJ Jeep Wrangler and I in my nearly stock Tacoma TRD Off-Road tackle Imogene Pass! I'm finally getting around to editing the last trail from our Ouray, CO trip in 2020. This is mostly dash camera footage and I apologize for the lack of variety. I've edited this in a way that I hope it's somewhat entertaining. Per the usual, these pics and videos ...

ARB Old Man Emu BP51s all around with OME HD Dakar rear leafs, Camburg ball joint upper control arms, and some Timbren active off-road bump stops. I forgot to mention in the video, but we also installed a drive shaft spacer as well as a front diff drop. And for reference the OME resi mounts...
Tacoma vs Poughkeepsie Gulch & THE WALL!
zhlédnutí 2,1KPřed 3 lety
I'm not going to lie... I wish I had rock sliders or better/taller suspension on this trail. Poughkeepsie Gulch in its entirety is a bit too much for the 'stock' Tacoma. All in all we were safe and had fun though! Nothing like getting a winch from, not one, but two Wranglers. The bottom line ice always wins over rubber, doesnt matter if its 4wd, awd or even a tank if rubber meets the surface you lose.
How air psi don't fu.me al. Gen.
What about studs?
Thanks for your instruction. I synced my Forester in September without a problem. My wife just bought a Crosstech and synced the mirror. Shortly the same day we noticed that neither of us were able to operate our doors. I have tried every which way without success. Please help. Regards
Fun video. Those Generals look like they're doing a good job. Thanks for sharing this.
So happy with our '18 Outback. "The best advertising makes you glad you bought."
Just wanted to comment and say thank you for making this video!! I saw it back in 2021 when I was first looking at cars and dreaming. Your video sold me on Subaru and Foresters. Three years later and I just became the proud owner of a Forester 😁 Winter can be brutal here so I'm excited to feel safe driving around for once!
City kids in rice burners without a winch complaining about scratches then bothering others for a pull......but he does have a roll-out awning.

will the 2019 forester skid plate fit 2018 forester CVT?
looks like a lot of fun to film.
Don't do it in march lol, we got stuck in Bayfield WI and we found some kind fellas via the FD that rescued us
what kind of wheels/rims are you using?
Where is this? Miami?
4 other videos later, yours helped!!! Thanks!!!
How big a lift is that?
My sons ford can handle anything
Great video mate! I'm looking forward to doing the full trail this summer, I have it all mapped out on GAIA ready to go!
I’d love to know your camping stop points for the two nights trip. I am about to go and I am nervous I won’t finish the best part of the trail.
The Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail (TWAT) was created by off-road motorcyclists for use by other off-road motorcyclists. Not for ATV riders or truck drivers. Please drive elsewhere. Related, the Trans Illinois Trail (TIT) was likewise created for off-road motorcyclists only. Thanks.
Put on studded tires, no issue.
Ko2s blow in snow and ice
Well......my car can DEFINITELY do that😅😅😅 (22 Forester Wilderness). I love your build man!
For real on a stock turbo? And I was thinking about upgrading when I could just go e85
Does anyone know a good tow hook for 2011 subaru outback
what is the point. any vehicle will have great difficulty gaining traction on pure ice without studs.
It's all about the tires, folks. With Cooper Discoverer Enduramax tires, my 2017 Outback is unstoppable.
Totally confusing
When you installed this, did it weigh the rear down? And did you have to lift the rear to "even" it out? We have two Foresters I'm wanting do this to. We have a 2009 and a 2020. You think I will also need to "even" it out if I add this to the rear? Your Forester looks awesome!
Dude that shit right there, I'm done she's getting a subaru. Thank you
I dont believe in snow tires unless you are in constant snowy roads . Once they are dry and plowed the handling characteristics are atrocious
Thumbs for the donuts and shovel pick up. Noice
Is “X-mode” basically a lock differential?
In the 1970s we were allowed to run studded tires. What a marvelous invention except it was hard on the concrete road surface.
All terrain tires okay on snow but don't work well on ice. Ice slip is caused by water film that's created due to pressure, which increases temperature. My RWD sports car can climb up ice sheet inclines with winter tires when AWD SUVs on all-seasons tires struggle. Winter tire compounds have abrasives mixed in (eg, ground walnut shells) to grab ice. They also have many more sipes that channel way pressure melted water that cause slip.
Good video in Texas. So hope not much of it this year
If you are ever in this situation, a plastic jar of sand spread ever so thinly on the ice makes an amazing difference in traction. Worth keeping a peanut jar full of sand in your trunk for just such a situation.
Tree huggers unite!
I have a 2017 Outback (purchased Dec. 2016) and never used X-Mode until Yesterday (1/18/24)! Wow! It really works! I have just all-season tires (here in Connecticut). Suspect my next car will be another Subaru!
is that a 2" lift kit you have that on?
They handle prefect ice shush and snow I am done my fouth one looking forward to my. Fifth one LOVE SUBARU ❤
FINALLY- someone on here that knows the difference between WET and POWDERED snow... I've had so many on here-- IT"S SNOW either way- yes- true- but WET SNOW IS NOT "just" snow-- it's a PAIN IN THE ASS waiting to happen.. Powder is almost NOT like snow- as it doesn't STICK and cause the issues wet snow (and ice- which it quickly becomes)..will do.
What tires are these?
U sound like Jeremy Piven
my uncle defends jeeps so hard, saying they are winter capable with no modifications and then he says subarus are bad because his family had a problem with theirs, biased half brained opinion
I will never own a subaru. I don't like CVT transmissions
really bad tires for ice.
my 1985 front wheel drive Buick with studded radials would walk right up that
Mine has 278,000 miles I keep making repairs when needed. I wish Honda would bring the element back.
