Tacoma vs Poughkeepsie Gulch & THE WALL!

- I'm not going to lie... I wish I had rock sliders or better/taller suspension on this trail. Poughkeepsie Gulch in its entirety is a bit too much for the 'stock' Tacoma. All in all we were safe and had fun though! Nothing like getting a winch from, not one, but two Wranglers.

Drove this in a stock '97 4.0L Wrangler on 30.5/9.50/15's in August 1998. Didn't think anything of it at the time, but have come to realize how formidable the obstacle is.
Great video!
Hey there!! We recently stumbled upon your channel! It looks like there is a good chance that we were actually in Ouray at the same time as you last fall in our Tacoma. Quick question, I think we’re in a similar predicament with our essentially stock Tacoma’s and what to do next. We don’t want to stray too far from stock but after that trip it was clear a few upgrades are necessary....anyway, the question: I think you were running 265/75 16’s? Did you get any rubbing on the trails??
Hi and cool! Ouray is great! Yes, I'm currently still running the 265/75r16 BFG KO2 tires shown in these videos. They're about an inch bigger than the stock tires so they add about a half inch in ground clearance over stock, but I believe that is lost once you air down. I get no rubbing at all. Zero. I am using Method 701 16x8 wheels with 0mm offset.
With that said, it would ideal to even add a slight lift, sliders, and/or skid plates for a trail shown in this video. I have suspension ready to go on in the Spring and I will eventually be stepping up to 285/75r16 (33s) once the suspension is done and I'm prepared for regearing.
I've ran out a handful of times in my Jeep. Sometimes, I have no problem, sometimes I have lots of problems. Watching the video, I think a bit more momentum would have carried you up in a couple cases. Though I understand wanting to go slow. Looking into getting your exact truck, and may use it out west rather than my 20 year old jeep. It's a loooooonnng drive.
My god, man. It's puh-GIP-see.
Stock and without rockers- OOOUUUCH! Im kinda in the same boat- but have rockers - and been trying to get to as many places as I can in "stock" configuration - at least you were smart and didn't go solo- that coulda been even worse.
For sure. I wouldn't dare do this trail solo.
City kids in rice burners without a winch complaining about scratches then bothering others for a pull......but he does have a roll-out awning.
Is your truck an automatic or manual?
Auto.
Roland or Bushy travel with you?
Roland!
Thanks for sharing. Stock still did good!
It’s acting like it had lots of air in the tires.
I ran 15lbs this entire week.
@@HighjakSecondary I guess I'm so used to running solid axle Toyotas, in fact just sold my 90 4runner SAS 3.4 Swapped on 37" tires with Marlin Crawler cases. I'm not quite used to how my 18 Taco wheels with the IFS quite yet.
@@davidromero6335 You had me at Marlin Crawler. :)
