Some of the first upgrades to my Crosstrek were skids, a hitch, and a winch. Recovery boards and a rear diff-locker are next.
Even if you have a Rubicon, you're eventually going to get stuck if you offroad for long enough.
"Warmed up to about 23*" 😂😂
Need to do old vs new Forester snow drift drag racing!? And hoonage!
Haha! Yes!
One of the main downsides of the cvt and the delay between going from forward and reverse is that you cannot rock the vehicle forward and backwards when in tricky spots.
Yeah, its' tough to impossible to rock these.
Do it with a DSG... pretty much the same! (to all those complaining Subaru should have a DSG)
I have a cvt 2016 forester xt maybe they fixed the cvt or maybe we have different cvt in our country. It does not delay the reverse to drive transition.
While I love Subi's (wife has one) AWD they have their limits when the conditions get real bad. Was in the same situation (a big drift) a few days ago with the Jeep and was able only able get out in 4lo w/ rear locker on. I honestly thought I was stuck but that extra wheel providing traction really helped. Wish Subaru would add an option for a locker , that would be awesome.
I'd love a locker option.
there is a company working on a r160 locker forgot the name tho

@@felixlovesredbull hmmmmmm
@@HighjakSecondary You spun in pretty good in packed snow there but I wonder how the new 2019 would've handled that with the new deep snow & mud xmode which disables VDC and allows wheel spin.
iBrick It’d be fun to see! VDC was off here though.
Good stuff thanks for the video
Thanks for watching.
Cool, While we don't have the snow, we do have sand. I got my Dodge 2wd stuck in sand that was loose and It sank. I had to dig out the tires and underneath the frame. Just like you did, only I was wearing shorts and it was Hot and Sunny.
HA! I'm not sure which I prefer... the frigid cold or blistering heat.
Same thing happened to me in Jefferson, CO the other week
Hey man I love the snow videos they are fun to watch and show alot about the Subuaru! Keep up the great work. I would like to suggest a wind jammer or muffler for your camera sometime down the road, we want to hear what you are saying when your out in the fields. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to the channel!
Nate Hutter Thanks! Yeah that on my to-buy list now that I use my phone a lot more for video.
Is this terrain hard to pass for most vehicles? I live in Texas so I don’t even know what snow is lol.
I think the wheel spin was the nail in the coffin. Should have just stopped, backed up, and gave it another go as soon as the wheels started spinning.
Yeah, that's how it goes with deep snow and sand. Yeah either gotta stay on top or it'll eat through.
I notice you drove into deep snow and sat if on the snow. No way will it get out of that one unless you dig the snow out from under vehicle. I can tell by the plowed flat snow where it came to a stop on top of the snow.
Next time try lightly holding the brake when your buried to send power evenly through the wheels, it seizes the ones that are spinning freely and distributes appropriate torque.
Eh, the computer is already doing this already.
You might wanna have Subaru check it out because it's not working the same as two peddling it.
@@robmd3851 Having owned 5 Subarus... it's just fine...
If you haven't already mate pick up some recovery tracks, would get you out of that sitch easy
I need to do that!
Not sure what brands you have over your side of the globe but here in Australia the superior track is Maxtrax
X-Bull is the local equivalent, less than 1/3 the price.
As a owner of a 2015 Forester 2.5i limited I really love watching your video's. What I don't like is to me the annoying music playing in the background. I'd rather listen to the sound of the engine, cvt, tires and your comments while plowing thru the snow. Keep up the excellent videos-Jimmy NYC
Sorry. That's the style. Take it or leave it. Thanks for watching! I tried to mix it up a bit more with the next video though FYI. A little of both.
Maxtrax might have helped.
Traction systems loose their affectivness as you run out of ground clearance.
Beached as, bro.
Did you air down?
I was running about 32/31 PSI here. I run them closer to 36 PSI when weather is nice or for highway driving.
@@HighjakSecondary I'd be curious to know what your performance in similar circumstances would've been if you'd went down to 15, or even 12 psi. The KO2s sidewalls are excellent and built for the airing down.
Now some tool will come on and after watching, call Subaru Symetrical AWD ineffectual garbage. And then recommend you try a Land Rover or BMW SUV for real snow capability, as if they could do any better.
Tools are tools. I don't make videos for the lowest common denominator. This is tough terrain to get through with any vehicle at low speeds.
@@HighjakSecondary It is tough terrain, and it's nice to see you are putting your subie through it's paces, without abusing it. I don't think the workouts you have posted go far beyond what it was built to handle. What state are you in? Looks flat, like North Dakota to me, maybe Kansas. I'm in western mid-Michigan. Winter here, this year, is worse than the last few years, though some would say it's back to normal for this area. So far my '03 WRX has never gotten stuck in the snow, but then I don't go off much and switch to winter tires from Nov-March.
@@dewfall56 I agree. This is not beyond what Subaru advertises these vehicles to be doing. This is Iowa. Pretty flat!
too much air pressure in your tires
There goes the new cvt. It isnt a 4x4 truck dude it's a little car
Kazak Thranduil It’s not being driven any harder than Subaru advertises it to be driven. Watch the last ‘CVT is fixed’ video.
“It’s a little car”’ Dick measuring contest comment.
HighjakSecondary hahaha
Get rid of the music.
