    I guessed 4 Runner last week and you said I could call it boring if it was a 4 Runner. This still counts!
    Boring!
    Nice truck man. I'm sure it will serve you well.
    I swear I have that same factory transmission cooler peaking behind that grill but know Toyota/Subaru share parts a lot now.
    Looking forward to seeing some vids on this one!

  • @idahohermitphotography2075

    awesome! I bought rav4 after getting rid of my subaru and have no regrets!

      I like the idea of the Rav4 a lot as far a 'replacement' to a Forester.

      The newer models are supposed to be better. For what it’s worth.

    Glad you made the switch.
    I'm not bashing on Subarus, but when you finally had enough and discovered that true 4x4 is better, nothing beats it.
    I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser and it's a beast.
    Sitting pretty at 215,000 miles.
    Also for 33's, I think you don't really need a re-gear. The truck will just eat more gas, but it should be fine.
    I have 285/70r17 on my FJ on stock gear. It's not a speed monster, but it goes decent. I avg about 15-16mpg. With everything loaded for "overlanding" I got around 13mpg when I was down in Colorado.
    "I should've done this 10 years ago." XD

    Are you able to fit the bigger tire as a spare? I have a 2021 TRD Off-road and have been thinking of upgrading my tires to the same size as yours.

    • @HighjakSecondary
      @HighjakSecondary  Před 3 lety

      Yep, I ran a full size matching spare 265/75r16 in the factory spare tire location for over a year. I'm up to 285/75r16 now and it fits a bit more snuggly. I need to hammer back one or both of those tabs for it to fit perfectly. I'd say a 33 is about as big as one can go on the DCSB in the stock location. Any bigger and you'll need to mount elsewhere.
      Oh also, I did cut the exhaust off short once I installed the 265/75r16 as it runs pretty close to the spare tire and I didn't want to run into any issues with heat.

    I believe there was some questions on your previous videos about weather or not you performed the “sever service” maintenance Schedule on your subi.
    Hopefully this yota last you a long time. I would highly recommend you follow Toyota “server duty” or what ever they call it maintenance schedule for this truck and it should last you a lifetime. People always like to say Toyota’s will last forever. But one of the things I have seen is they recommend a higher then average maintenance plan that recommends quite a bit of scheduled maintenance. This is one of the main reasons they last so long, they know and recommend a lot of scheduled maintenance. I would do every bit of it and don’t worry about the cost to much because you already no the problems that can happen if you don’t. If your capable of doing it yourself I’d also recommend that to save some money. Just document the maintenance you do in your owners manual. Anything you sign and date is considered a legal document. So as long as you document it, if anything warrantable comes up, it should be a issue if you did your own maintenance.

      @HighjakSecondary  Před 4 lety +1

      All services were performed as detailed. The first thing Subaru did before warrantying the transmission was check the services and check the quality and level of the fluid. Everything was good to go. Fortunately the Taco doesn't have a CVT so we're already about 10 steps ahead.

    Did you trade it in straight at the dealership? Do you negotiate with trade ins? I may do the same with my forester and get something else.

    • @HighjakSecondary
      @HighjakSecondary  Před 3 lety

      Yes, I traded it in at a dealership. Yes, you should negotiate everything, but keep in mind most dealerships will give you what appears to be a great deal on a trade to keep you interested and then not come down as much on the vehicle you're trying to trade up to. Just do your math.

    its a shame that the forester is such a glass canon really.... it seems like its the only off road capable car out there that has decent mpg and is not as compromising to drive on tarmac... and I know that mpg isn't the first thing that comes to mind for most people when looking for these cars, but here in the Netherlands fuel is about 4 times more expensive, making the running costs substantially more. (before corona it used to be ~1,60 EUR/L)...
