- We're back on the diagonal hill with the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road! This is a test. The objective here is to take the obstacle slow and force the systems at play to do their job. The goal is not just to complete the obstacle, but rather to learn and become more familiar with the vehicle, its ability in 4x4, and the electronic traction control system (A-TRAC / Multi-Terrain Select).

Great film! I rented one in Colorado, that was a fun trip. 😇😇😇👍🏻
Rentals are the best.
Them "Durn" Badger holes lol
Great video sir!!
👊
I wish TFL would watch this video, they love to climb stuff in toyotas with an open front diff
Can't recall if I've asked you this before but, Why the Taco, vs the 4Runner? And yes, I have been following the channel since the SH/SJ Fozzys, so I remembered that little hill.
For me it just came down to practical use. I really wanted the bed. Also, the 4Runners are remarkably higher in price. My man! 👊
With current economics and supply shortages.
I’ve learned the more MPG the better.
I want to be able to leave the city limits and not be worried about the next gas station.
Gear selector in D or 1/Lo?
D tends to select the appropriate gear correctly most of the time, but I have the habit of manually selecting the gear I want once the TC goes into 4Lo so that's that I did for both of these runs. Both were placed into 1st gear.
Did you ever try 2wd Locked?
I didn't do any 2WD runs. I couldn't even get to the starting location shown here in 2WD - LOL. Unfortunately these trucks only allow the rear locker to be engaged when the truck is in 4 Low. The 2nd Gens had a really easy workaround for what they called the "Locker Anytime Mod", but the 3rd Gens are a bit more complicated and no one really has a good solution at this time to get such a mod to work on the 3rd Gens from what I've seen.
Also manual just has atrac
Yep..
Good to know! I'm surprised you aren't given the full MTS modes. You have the TRD OR manual right?
Yes I do and as I recall it's geared slightly lower and has atrac other than that it relies on the driver to not be stupid.
Wench it up next!
