@@user-dr8vs8yb4h They don't always release new x10, x30 or even x50 cards for every generation. The latest x10 card I know of is the gt710 for example. And there were no x50 or lower cards in the 2000 series.
The gt710 is still good enough for almost everything you could want to use it for.

The performance for this beast is almost just as good as the 3070, and for $100 less, I am definitely gonna get this over the 3070. Taking $100 off the pc budget for this is tough but this makes it finally possible!!!
Can’t believe the supply issue with this tho, I hope they are making a truckload of these and holding them until maybe next or the week after next week to release them before Christmas. Otherwise, I’m stuck with the ol reliable potato laptop for now.

Thanks Linus for the candid review and comments on card pricing. My GTX 1070 SC just died which is the second GTX 1070 (different makers) to die on me since I got the computer in Oct 2017. What hurt was it was only a couple months out of warranty😕. My only repair option from my original supplier was a Gigabyte RTX 3060 Ti for $800. That price sucked but I was willing to pay to get a comparable even somewhat better replacement.
It’s interesting to see in your video that the test card was defective! I wonder what is happening with computer component reliability and/or quality control? I wonder if high failure rates and shorter component lifespans is the going to be our new reality? I took the extended warranty just in case.

Nvidia just needs to increase the price goddamnit. Scalpers are not the ones doing anything wrong, its Nvidia for charging under market value. That WILL lead to shadow markets, in a perfect market itll roughly be priced what wouldve been the market value PLUS the difference between market value and what they charge for it. (i.e. if the market value if they charged it at that would be 750$ and they sell them for 500$, youll get them for 1000$.) The problem isnt bots or scalpers, its a company engaging in practices that lead to this deadweight loss.

Yeah, seriously. After the stability fiascos with the 3080 and 3090 launches, I'm seeing some red flags on the reliability of their first batches this season. I put myself in the EVGA queue for these 3060 Tis, but I'm beginning to doubt whether I should actually buy it if I get the chance.

You guys should compare identically configured (or as close as possible) laptops and desktops. It would be interesting to see how much of a penalty the tight form factor makes in performance.
Just bought it, i upgraded from 1070 and paid the common 500 dollar price for the ghost version.I play mainly VR, so i hope the upgrade will be worth the money..
Edit: in most vr games the upgrade is noticeable, only hl alyx runs only at 1.0 res 80hz without stuttering for some reason (90 hz major stuttering), i have read online the game has some issues with nvidia drivers, also you have to run it thru oculus and steamvr at once..
It is very strange because in some areas it runs at 120 hz, then you turn around and it even cant run 90hz..

I won Newegg Shuffle yesterday and got the chance at an Asus 3060 Ti for a little under 600 US. Can't wait for the delivery. Even though I have a 2060 that I was lucky to get at a similar price, this feels like a massive upgrade.

The issue isn't that the cards are not launching with the normal amount of stock. The issue is that there are at least 3x the amount of people who want these cards to upgrade then the 2000 series. It wouldn't make sense for nvidea to not want to make as many of these as humanly possible

I just got my Gigabyte 3060ti a few days ago, a full year after it released for a reasonable price as you said. You weren't lying about having to wait. Just regret getting it after the whole 40 Series controversy.

I finally got my hands on a 3060 ti after almost a year of wanting to upgrade, and 5 years of being stuck with a gtx 970... It doesnt look any different in appearance but the fps is there now. Just thankful i got the card and not a scalper or miner.
@UntitledGamer I got on a waiting list at this local store, it was suppose to take 3 months for a 3080 or 3060ti but ended up taking way longer and they only got the 3060 unfortunately but i cant complain

I've bought a prebuild Lenovo Legion 5T (w/ Ryzen 7 5800) and this 3060ti for 950 Euro. I was looking at a prebuild with this GPU specifically since my max budget was 1000 Euro, and the Lenovo was the only one currently sitting at 950! (The other prebuilds (MSI/HP OMEN/Victus etc.) with 3060ti were all priced above 1200 Euro or came with the newer 3070's). The same system with a 3070 was 1349 Euro (w/ discount) and well above my budget. I even tried to pick the same components as the prebuild for a DIY build and couldn't get the price below 1250 Euro, so the prebuild was a no-brainer.
I was so lucky with my purchase price because only two days after my purchase (end of May 2023), the price of my prebuild system went up to 1449 Euro, where it still sits currenty as of this writing.
I think 950 Euro for a R7 5800/3060ti/16GB DDR4 is a steal, since the 3060ti stand-alone still cost around 300-350 Euro even on the secondhand market. And i have to say this card is a beast!
My 2060super just died and i by some miracle found a 3060ti ALMOST at msrp (Asus tuf gaming 3060ti ~600 USD) and rewatching this comparison makes me feel a bit better about the forced new GPU. Thanks Linus.

I love how virtually every single detail about this card, including the price and its official marketing slides, were leaked weeks in advance.

I really like the disclaimer that Linus gave in this video. It's true it's not their fault pricing and availability are abysmal, but many reviewers just opt to pretend there is no problem at-all which makes them look complicit. Having the guts to acknowledge the problem is the best way forward from what I can see.
