- Some “practical” applications for the 7 segment display
•••
Maybe it’s a dice that can be used while playing table top games. Or connect it to the internet and use it as a counter for your online store or social media following. Or of course, you put 4 of them together with the colon separator, add a real time clock module, and you have yourself a fully functioning clock. If you want to get really crazy, add a couple more modules, and you can actually track seconds as well.

take my money 😂❤
Can you play DND?
not sure about it's application but likely needs a face plate that blocks it's wiggliness.
O
Millisecond - machine gun
Pentosecond - fire
yoctosecond - imminent explosion
😂😂
Hey where can i buy one :)@@JBVCreative
Zeptosecond teleports to different dimension
Septosecond - Destroy the Whole Universe
Imagine that thing giving a complete shuffle for the new hour in the middle of the night
Every ten hours
I’ve had tinnitus my entire life, hearing something like this every second at my house would honestly be one of the most relaxing things to distract me
I just use something like Astro A50 wireless headphones that are on my head all day while home. Music, youtube, audio book, podcast, all day and their lightweight. You could also add speakers around the house and just have ambient nature noise playing, I do that for night time or listen to liquid DNB as I sleep.
The humming is deafening.
I’ve learnt to ignore it thankfully. Usually only notice it when I go to bed 🛌
I use a fan. Works pretty well and helps you sleep if you focus on the noise (if you’re the type of person who can’t get their mind to shut up)
Get a pendulum clock! Very soothing imo
As someone who also hears ringing all day and night but doesn’t know if it’s tinnitus or not I agree using a fan, playing music in the background, using earphones to sleep, or even hitting a dab are all good work arounds especially if your someone like me who’s calmed down by bass. I used to put my sound bar next to my bed and sleep with a heavy base 8h video for me to sleep to and I’ll wake up once it’s over. I don’t remember what I was originally gonna say because I went on a tangent but long story short I’m sorry you have that as well I hope you can get more used to it
Everyone's gangsta until it starts counting backwards💀
Fr
Sweet! A digital clock that sounds like an analog clock! Would be cool for background ambience
not really digital lol it has a mechanism
Not a digital clock
Fine I’ll be more accurate.
A mechanical 7 segment display clock.
No need to. Some people aren't aware that the word "digital" has more than one meaning, especially when it comes to displays.
@@cheekibreeki904 oh I’m just making the people happy who think “digital” means electronic, rather than “contains digits” lol
bro the noise is pure asmr
🤤🤤
With the seconds, it’s like a soothing metronome .
Add an alarm function. It cycles all the numbers quickly as an alarm bell 😅
It doesss i want one purely just to hear it ticking away the seconds. Its amazing
Minecraft piston
not really to me it sounds like a crunchy clock
"but if you really wanna torture yourself" i expected him to add AM/PM😂😂
"you have a dice" *twitches at usage of the word dice*
Apparently we’re the only ones. “A mice”
“A little bit noisy to keep around” my sir, this fills an emptiness in my soul I need.
Have you ever tried a mechanical clock
A grandfather clock gives the same click
@@douglasgriffin4795 yeah, but this one gives that cool ripple and I like it
@@douglasgriffin4795Yes! and it's much more pleasant and will play a lovely tune every fifteen minutes. But it will set you back a couple of grand though
Yes y Jesus
Adding the seconds was the cherry for me. It’s so dramatic and peaceful at the same time. Like a mechanically digital grandfather clock.
It was already stressing me out
God you must be unbearable to be around
@@unfortunatereport6545What’s with the hostility?
@@matthewpastel Gen Alpha
@@unfortunatereport6545 How did you get that from a few sentences
I have to admit that second one doesn't sound that bad I could listen to that while reading a book and sipping on a coffee
I'll Play some Lo-Fi songs to
With the seconds, it is absolutely perfect to have in the background of a quiet house. No one can tell me otherwise
The shuffle noises are definitely a major selling point to me! I love this!
Edit: That shiffity shuffle scratches a satisfying asmr itch for me, and if you know, you know, but there's no reason to be salty about it if you don't. Just because Victoria's secret is a popular brand name doesn't mean everyone's wearing lingerie. 😏👙
Me too! Appreciate it!
I love the subway tiles and want to build a board out of them, however, I cant find any that are pre-build and I just add the electornics to automate it. And building the tiles looks like a major for each symbol... But mainly, I love the flapping noise of those. This one here, this gives me that same type of noise that I love and you have the files available now! I am watching your build video and buying the plans and printing a nhandful of these to build a mechanical clock! I can't wait to just hear the white noise of the shuffling.
@@JBVCreativethats so cool bro, i need a clock like that. just need a 3d printer and some electronics knowledge first lol
"major selling point" until you have it for 5 minutes and want to blow your brains out.
@Qwerty-ff1cr
Well, you probably won't want one then, or a grandfather clock, or a dog, or children. Or you could, ya know, not have it in your bedroom or wherever you spend most of your time.
The clock display would look cool in a common area like a lobby. The noise shouldn't be a problem since that area would have a lot of traffic and would probably be drowned out.
Definitely would be drowned out, Meow Wolf's Convergence Station has a massive split-flap wall that is constantly moving and with the foot traffic even that isn't super noticeable as anything more than background noise.
Bro is reintroducing vacuum tube clocks to the modern consciousness and I'm all for it
Bruh, the noises it makes is one of the best parts! Especially for people (like myself) who for some reason can't sleep without a little noise.
Gives off split-flap feels and sounds. The only thing preventing wider usage for me is the thickness. I’m curious what possibilities there are if, instead of spreading each segment’s actuation out horizontally, if all of them could be combined into a single, rotating cylinder that still pushes the segments out and over.
Definitely got the split flap vibe! There are ways to make it smaller for sure
I love Split Flaps. Specifically the noises they make.
Ok
Do you remember analog odometers and hodometers ?
If you can do it profitably , those would be great birthday or holiday presents for young would-be engineers .
Dude this is awesome! I love the sound - it’s like a split flap display.
Thanks Dan! So similar
@@JBVCreative What else can it do and where can I get some of them? I dont have a 3d printer :/
Can it count kills in COD, goals in Rocket League etc. ?
This is extremely cool.
Ikr
I love the noise and the way it looks, I could watch that for hours
I'd set those 4 up as a clock. Coolest clock ever
Noisey clock with seconds is peak nostalgia for british ppl between the 80s and 2010s as they used to have these at railway stations accross the country
I totally forgot about those
I would LOVE to have one as a clock.
I’ll keep my flip clock accomplishing a very similar thing but without all the noise lol
for me the noise is pure ASMR
The shuffle noise at the end when it all resets is satisfying
This would actually be really cool as a cricket scoreboard.
I can't wait for it to click 3600 times whenever daylight savings changes
why would it click 3600 times?
@@colingreene8681 when daylight savings starts or stops clocks advance or go back 1 hour, usually automatically so it would click once for every second
@@kipchickensout why would it click once per second?
flip clock owners: look at what they need to create a fraction of my power
What's Flip clock ???
@@UditJangid-fp7rx I think they mean the kind of clock where the clock has little flip cards inside.
Think about a spiral-bound notebook, they can flip their blank pages around to the back. Flip clocks are like that but with each "page" having half of a number on it, so that every minute the page turns and you see a new number.
@@CSpottsGaming thanks got it
Noisy? Never! I would be hearing that all day! So satisfying
Dang good stuff bro keep it up 👍
I called it
(ik a clock was an extremely out of the box idea you would've probably never think about)
Haha this was inevitable
I mean, that's no more irritating than your average ticking clock, so I'd say you executed this perfectly.
Brings back so many memories of me at my grandparents house when I was little. They lived out in the country and it was just acres of land and all you heard at night were the crickets and the clock in the living room going tick tick tick tick until I fell asleep.
That ticking noise of the clock seconds is beautiful
I'm sorry, it's "die" for singular. Hearing "a dice" sounds so wrong to me.
So, no dice?
No dice indeed
"dice" actually also works as the singular!
@@Wolfie2TMX Only because of modern colloquialisms. "Die" was originally the singular noun. It's the same reason why "literally" can now also mean "figuratively" - people know what you mean, but it still sounds a bit strange if you think about the original meaning of the word.
@@null_verdict 🤓
I absolutely need an 8 hour video of just the clock, no background music or anything.
Better 12 or 24 hour.
@@cjnf11 12 is enough, you can loop it yourself :)
This would be awesome for DnD
That is honestly the coolest thing I’ve seen today.
Picosecond is gonna go fire 🔥
You should make the colon module stick out further so is not hidden when your not straight on
thats nasty dude, please dont post that shit where kids can see
it would be a great lego clock timer
the mechanical clicking… it sounds so good
You should hook this up to your subscriber count and have a real time subscriber counter
It doesn't do negative though sadly haha
@@PopCapMusicTrending my guy, you have 200 subs, he has 500k
@@TheScouse it's just a number with bots
This is so awesome, so many possibilities!!
Honestly, this is fire. I’d want the 6 piece set as that ticking sound is so goddamn tactile, I’d listen to it on loop when I go to sleep.
Bro the clicks are calming af, i’d definitely buy the clock if it came in its own set
Honestly the occasional rapid shifts are so satisfying.
The most satisfying clock I’ve ever heard
This working as some kind of score counter would be awesome
I would honestly love to have one that counts seconds too. It would be like an old analog or grandfather clock
Haha but 10x as loud
@@JBVCreative that’s the best part! Maybe it’ll drown out my tinnitus🤣🤣
I know my comments make me sound like a 70 year old veteran. I’m not, I’m a 20 year old landscaper.
The only ticking digital clock
I actually like the sound of the flicking because it sounds like one of the clocks where you can hear the second ticking
This looks amazing
This is amazing! I suggest you put something like a small flap protruding from the sides so that those lines segments that are "off" are blocked from vision especially when viewing from an angle!
“May be noisy”
Nobody tell him about analog clocks
Just printing these now, can you add in a guide and code for the clock? Happy to pay extra
Im gonna work on something in the next few days! But there is some sample code in the download package! Let me know if you didnt get it
@@JBVCreative Amazing, I'm currently reprinting the front plate and followers as i snapped one of them to bits trying to go backwards during assembly. Cant rush these things too much, printed great on my A1 mini, cant wait to hear it running!
It's like a grandfather clock but more modernized
The sound of the clock is pretty nice actually, the high pitch motors and plastic clacks somewhat imitate the ticking of a mechanical clock.
The mad lad did it!! How do I get the components to make a clock? That'd be so cool!!
Just need a real time clock module! And the motors and Arduino, but I provided some code with the files that’s surprisingly simple!
@@JBVCreative a million thanks my guy
"lady"? Is there something we don't know about him, or...
@cheekibreeki904 I typed mad lad but phone hates me and now I find out days later...
please make a video of just the clock going for like an hour. its such a satisfying sound and i need it.
Honestly. If you streamed this clock operating for an hour, I would definitely listen to it in the background at work.
Perfect for climactic D&D stuff.
"might be a bit noisy"
have you heard a regular clock
This would be so dope for a DND campaign or MTG tournament
If I ever do play DnD, Imma need two of these
i will DEFFINENTLY be buying these
this is one of the coolest thing i have ever seen
Every passing second feels like the Portal 2 main menu
Ahh the sound is so satisfying, reminds me of vintage 'digital' clocks and stock exchanges
Love the clicking sound of the seconds
watching it turn over the hour is so cool
Using the dice one for a techno dnd campaign would be crazy cool
You should sell them as individual products, would be really cool to have a fully printed clock working from these. (Not everyone has access to a 3d printer lol)
The noise is satisfying and also lets you know every time 10 mins has passed lol
you should definitely code yourself a system to where it matches your sub count
There’s no telling just how far this rabbit hole goes
BRO THAT IS SO SATISFYING!!! WTH WHERE CAN I BUY THESE???????
Switching over every minutes sounds super cool.
this is really creative love it.
I fucking LOVE audible clocks. Grandfather clocks? Yes. Whatever this one is? Yes. Nice steady clicks. Makes my brain happy
This is sooooo cool, i may get some
The shuffling sounds it makes sounds like someone furiously solving a rubix cube except it sounds more satisfying
I love the fact that it wiggles probably does nothing more than to look good and it looks good
The ticks helps me get deep into thoughts somehow.
That's amazing
The more you add base pieces, the more you know how fast the time is runing and you are closing to death 🙌🏻👀
I would absolutely love to have something this ridiculous 😂
This reminds me of the sculpture in Zachry at Texas A&M. They had a few flip modules that would go through various different designs and then eventually have everything flip like crazy. It is really cool and relaxing.
The clicking is so pleasing
My brain just loves it
I think we need this for a new D&D campaign
Going to the D&D session with a 7 segment D20
This would be pretty cool for a Dungeon Master in DnD or Pathfinder
This makes me want an old ticking clock again. Thanks
That looks and sounds nice to wake up to, everyday you wake up to the subtle sounds of type writers rustling to a perfect 5am..
How many cycles do you reckon you could get out of one of these modules? Super cool!
Imma need that for my DnD session and turn it into my D20
need this in every room !!!
as a clock that sounds amazing
this looks like it could be put in a puzzle horror movie. Especially with the shuffling noise, it's a bit off putting in a uncomfortable way, combine it with complete silence and you've got a great horror factor or whatever you call it.
This is actually very cool
I love the idea of using this as a set of dice. If only I played board games 😅😂
It just looks so cool.
