The 4060 Ti is here, and the rumors are true: it's an 8GB card launching at a time when 8GB of VRAM is barely enough for AAA titles at 1080p. That being said, the raw performance isn't TERRIBLE and they didn't raise the price from the last generation, so... good?

Contrary to the table at 0:13, the RTX 4060Ti is PCIe x8, not x16. We also said the X370 chipset does not support ReBAR but that was added in a later update. We apologize for the confusion!

@@karolwesoek5350 I think most board that is still rocking PCIe 3.0, will be bottlenecked on the CPU before you buy this GPU....
The argument for x8 bus is more relevant to 50-series GPU, which either just run on PCIe, or just sip powers from one 6-pin/8-pin so it does not overwhelm the poor used-office PC PSU. The memory bus already knee-cap this GPU anyway.

Couldn't it be Nvidia chose to 'only' go with a 128bit bus because whenever they used a 256bit bus in combination with the new larger L2 cache the performance of the 4060ti would be to close to the 4070? Would be interesting to find that out.

And the 3060ti might actually also be more powerful than the 3060ti for people with pcie 3.0. NOBODY NEEDS PCIE 4.0 IN THIS LOW END, EXCEPT WHEN GPU MAKERS ARE SO CHEAPO WHILE MAKING CARDS THAT USES ONLY HALF OF THE PCIE LANES. This is a pcie 4.0x8 card as far as i know.

I'd say they are doing amazing for a first time being serious in the GPU market. They are defiantly committed for two more gens being Battlemage and Celestial, Battlemage aiming for 4070 to 4080 performance from what I hear and Celestial probably on par with whatever 50 series mid range will offer (5060ti/5070) And will more then likely not increase much in price, maybe $400 to $500 for the top end model. @@gorkskoal9315 What meme echo chambers have you been staying in? The fact that the company only did IGPUs for so long is not only taken into consideration by the tech commentary space, it was a concern that Intel would have trouble tackling a discrete GPU after only having that as experience since iGPU =/= discrete GPU, especially a discrete GPU with all the features Intel was promising, and they'd have to compete with a duopoly with literal decades of experience with discrete GPU drivers.
And they did have trouble, so it very much was _not_ a surprise and people were shitting on them for the totally expected outcome. Intel actually did better than expected with the hardware being decent, since people were expecting they'd botch that too, and most of the problem being the expected driver inexperience and bullshit interface software. I jumped on the bandwagon in January for the Intel Arc A770 16gb card, it was a great buy and looked beautiful. I had all kinds of issues though using teams conference calls for work with the system freezing up during my calls. Sometimes it would freeze just out of the blue, so I worked with Intel for months with the latest drivers each month. When I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 with the May 4502 driver, all was good until this past month with the latest driver. Now I got Blue screen re-boots a few times a day. I tried a clean install going back to the 4502 driver, but this did not resolve the problem. I finally decided to take the Intel Arc A770 out of my system and replaced it with the RTX 4060 ti. My system is working better than ever now, even though my GPU has 8gb less ram. This video really has opened my eyes to some things, but my system boots faster as well as opens and runs everything faster and better than with the Arc A770 and this card was only $50 more.

I know some people with the card, it is still a heavily buggied mess, but it has improved a lot. I absolutely do not recommend the card for non-tech savvy people or people without patience for crashes and bugs, since you will experience a lot of those, and it will take years for them to solve the majority of them, if Intel doesn't drops the venture first, but when you hit a game that is not bugged (usually DX12) they are a great bang for the buck.
For the less adventurous the RX 6500 XT, RX 6600 and RTX 3060 12GB stands on the same price ranges with comparable performance and way better energy efficiency, though, but the Intel offerings might potentially improve past their performance level with the time, or not, time will tell. Video idea - now that Nvidia's whole 4000 series lineup is pretty much out, could be a good time for a "patient gamers" update. I bought my GTX 1080 new for $500 and have just recently started to feel like an upgrade could be warranted, for many of the same reasons this 4060ti is such a massive miss. But with how crazy prices are, it feels really hard to make a decision - spend about what I did last time to get, what, the same card but with DLSS and ray tracing? Not really worth it, but then to actually get an upgrade I've gotta look at potentially twice the cost, which has me feeling like my "80ish fps on carefully configured mediumish settings" is worth waiting another year.
In any case, could be a great video to actually put data behind those feelings that I'm sure many of us have. How do previous gen's popular cards (980/1080/ti, 2070s, etc.) fit into the current lineup? Is there anything it makes sense to upgrade to?

Frankly, I plan to upgrade again if VRAM becomes an issue, but I have a feeling it won't because I don't really play these weird ass 'triple A' single player games that seem to take five thousands gigs of vram for no reason other than they can. Most games are CPU bound anyways and you are always better off manually adjusting graphics to find a sweet spot instead of just smacking ultra and hoping for the best because your card has a new number in front of it. I found the cache to be a bonus combined with the processor cache size and my games run incredibly well at 1440p.

Power consumption, heat and noise are big for me. I don't know if I speak for many PC gamers, but I tend to run discarded professional workstations as a platform for my gaming PC's. I can usually get them for free after they are a few generations old. These PC's while powerful and able to support discrete GPU's, they do not have tons of airflow and also their power supplies don't have the same wattage or PCIe cables as aftermarket gaming PCs do. For me, staying well below 200W for the GPU is a hard requirement. I am finally able to replace my 1070ti with something that is nearly twice as powerful while staying in (actually below) my existing card's 180W thermal envelope. Ok as an Intel Arc A770 LE owner it is very much deserved. This card doesn't do well enough in modern games vs an RX 6600 to justify your entire library of older games being a buggy mess that doesn't work at all 20% of the time due to game breaking bugs. I've had the card 1 month because I listened to everyone complain about VRAM, and who cares about VRAM when the experience is literally garbage. Intel has 3 different programs to control the cards software and the card can't even boot correctly from sleep mode 8 months after launch. The performance is only sometimes good in optimized Direct X12 brand new sponsored games, and it is a joke for everything else. I replaced an RX 480 8gb and I feel like it did a better job than the ARC card. While I may only be getting 40 ish FPS, its better than playing a glitchy mess with high FPS because of emulation. The AV1 encoder also doesn't work half the time in OBS for no apparent reason either. Theres entire forum posts filled with bugs that are known for months and they will never get to them because the ROI is not just worth it for them. Just buy the RX 6600 for 200$ on a budget and upgrade whenever you have an issue. Because think of this. Spend 200$ now keep the 80-150$ you'd spend to get to the RX 6700/6750XT series, throw it in a stock market portfolio and use it to buy a brand new RX 8600XT realistically or something like what that might be. It'll be the latest product with the latest feature set as well.

Granted, Intel has put in a lot of leg work to fix them, but starting from so far behind means that DX11/10 performance is a bit janky. DX9/VK isn't great either, though that might just be because I play janky map games and I have the thing clocked as high as it will go while not BSOD'ing every five seconds. currently i am running the rtx 3060ti and i do alot of stuff in terms of ai video upscaling, image generation and also game a lot(duh!)
the 8gb just wont cut it and i am thinking about upgrading
i would be okay with minimal graphic improvement because it is the ai stuff that takes the most time and resources
would dlss 3 be enough to justify the 4060 ti(16gb) in terms of graphic when it really is the ai improvements that i am looking for?
it feels like this card made exactly for the purpose i need it for
the 4070 is just out of my price range and i dont know if the 12gb compare in the long run against the 16gb?
    thanks in advance

I still don't think the 4060ti 16GB is still worth it with a severely cut down memory bus (tends to be important for AI work). Best bet is to save for a 4070, you'll have a much better experience and will last a lot longer. Good luck!

its been pretty fierce if you ignore ray tracing performance. amd card hold their own now and much cheaper prices than nvidia equivalents.

The competition is more fierce than ever before so much so, if all you care about is gaming, this card is already 200 overpriced, if this thing sells then, it's because it offers good enough value or because the consumer isn't very smart.

I did catch a flaw in your review. Resizable BAR is NOT required for the GPU to use system memory. It's just that it will be even slower, since the GPU will essentially have to bankswitch, accessinly only X amount of system RAM at a time.
I don't have Resizable BAR, but my computer lists 2GB of shared memory for my GPU. Windows will actually allow you to share up to 50% of your main memory.
I also have seen at least some games that will reduce their memory requirements as much as they can under memory pressure. They can load in lower resolution textures, for example. It makes sense for a game to use more VRAM when available, even when it doesn't technically have to, just like how, say, Chrome will use more memory in a computer that has 16GB than one that has 8GB.

I'm convinced that Nvidia has gone into a tick tock cycle.
    10 series - good performance
    20 series - ray tracing / dlss
    30 series - good performance
    40 series - frame gen
    50 series - good performance?

Would’ve like to see the 3070 included in the comparisons

      It's faster.

But nvidia would not like that. So they did not include it.

No point in including another 8GB card you shouldn’t buy. Besides, helping them sell 3070s would have been doing Nvidia a favour and they don’t deserve any.

Its actual peak comedy that there's one guy still riding on the big old "LTT the Nvidia child company" bullshit and another explaining that LTT wants to do anything but help nvidia, right next to eachother
      Made my day
