As a guy who used to make custom computers for people as well as doing repairs. Linus is very good at his job and pretty fair in his reviews. That said, building computers and shipping them is very hard to do and ensure the cables always arrive connected.
Absolutely gold. You take the criticism well. And you actually like to learn about the mistakes. This is the makings of a good company

the secret shopper series could be a mandatory watch for each employee of starforge, would probably actually help them avoid some pitfalls/mistakes of other system integrators
as for the ltt video, i would have loved to see them put the starforge customer service on test with a simulated fault like a loose ram stick or something (like they did for the secret shopper series)

@@adamwest5006 problem with the this video is that he's only an investor and doesn't know much of computers himself. As far as the response from business owner goes he seems to have the right attitude.
The level of scrutiny you get from Linus is valuable, it's like hiring a consultant for free plus at Linus' level that's priceless.

Imma be honest, I've never watched your channel before but seeing the way you handled linus' honest review of your PC, you handled it so graciously. I love that you admitted to the few mistakes and even took action to bring the issues up with the other creators. Most people would have gotten defensive about critical feedback but you took it in stride and are using it to improve your product. I can't praise you enough for how you reacted. Well done!

We need more business people like you, who don't take it as a insult but take it as a learning curve to improve for the future, so many other people would of been like "omg he's targeting our business" or "he's going to put us out of business" but u took it like a true business person should

I build my own PCs and i think the price is very reasonable, when you account for the time invested in picking the right parts, putting them together + end user support.
Also I really like the custom star lights inside. Make sure the QC is strict and you can make a name for yourself. The fact that big names such as Dell and HP are unable to deliver quality and consistency shows how tough the retail pc gaming business is.
Imagine if all company leadership had to livestream and respond to critic reviews, the world would be a better place.
Not only that, but the owner responding/watching the review, and taking notes. I"m sure this is what you meant too, but it's just incredible... and credits Zach for his honesty.

A big add for pre-built is the warranty on the entire system. You generally won't have to deal with RMA's with every component manufacturer, you will have one-stop support. This to me is worth the extra money and the longer the warranty the higher value add.
If you want to pay an extra 1000 dollars for mark up, that's on you. Much better to build this exact same PC for only 2000 instead of 3500.
@@bofasofa9399 yeah, but for some people it's just better to pay more, and get the thing assembled already. It's just easier for them, especially when the price of a DIY build is pretty high on its own.
I'm a huge DIY advocate, but I guess we all can see that it's just easier to buy a prebuilt, especially if it's nicely made and balanced, albeit for a higher price
@@bofasofa9399 You have to remember when this review was made. That configuration was not much less expensive than starforges price to diy back then. A year before that I bet it was the exact same price to diy. The prices only recently broke on computer parts. You were probably only paying a 250-500 premium which is actually worth it for the warranty, and the fact it has been built for you.
The 40 series didnt even exist when that was released as well so that was top of the line when this review was done.
@@bofasofa9399So I put together a pc part picker with the same level of parts but modernized and I was getting around $3000. I would say using the exact same parts I could get it down to $2000 but that us how much computer parts drop in a year. (Edit down below with exact parts. In this pricing I priced a 4090 to match the 3090 but in their new 3500$ PC it is sporting a 3080 Super instead)
I just priced their exact specs for the $3500 machine and it is about $2650 all together. I think I am a little low due to not finding exact matches so yeah your kinda right. That being said its $600 more than you were claiming so $900 premium for it being built for you with extra case mods and cablemod extensions (that I didnt price in) and an extended warranty on the PC as a whole instead of individual parts. That build also has outstanding cable management I would say thats a pretty damn good deal. Saves you quite a few hours doing great cable management, saves people who dont know how to build PCs from bricking their shit. Seems like a good deal to me.

Linus spoke about how terrifying it was to watch the reviews of the screwdriver, major props to Asmon for not only going through that live on stream, but having the honesty and integrity to own the mistakes (like checking his own accessory box for the power cables and admitting the fault)
You can always improve your computer design but if you show that you can’t take criticism, no one will give you the chance to improve
Are you kidding asmonds pc’s are at least 1300$ overpriced - 1300+ for assembly and not the best assembly at that with mistakes not sure it's worth

Tbh, if he was in charge of it and took it personally knowing he’s as immature as a kid like he implied with these kinds of jokes, it shows how dedicated and serious he’s taking the job if he melts down trying to perfect even the branding so he 110% took some of Linus’ critiques to the others about the quality after this, that’s a good owner right there imo.

It may be paranoid, but I've heard peeling those after it's built can short your system through static electricity. If I ever bought a pre-built (I wouldn't), it might give me peace of mind having them already removed.
I disagree. 12 year old Timmy shouldn’t have to open up his pc case to peel the sticker off. What they should do is leave the wrapping on the case so you can peel that off

Linus didn't ask for a 3rd insert. He meant that the water pump head is RGB, So if you had made the inserts clear where there is colour the end user could change it to whatever colour they liked with the RGB software on their computer

I doubt people saving up for months to buy ~2500 dollar or euro and not build something themselves but go for a prebuilt, gonna love to check stuff they might not have a clue about what goes where. So instead of maybe have to go through an install of Windows, they have to check all cables and what not. They also have to check whether promsied parts are in there. Yeah, what a win!
PS, yeah, he owns up, but as long as he sees the W vs L as equal, the actual critic might be lost. You need like 15 W for 1 L for a product like this. It's a prebuild, anyone with knowledge would go for ordering parts they need and maybe upgrade certain items for the future. I would be so angry when finally getting a package and then some serious issues. Why was noone with actual knowledge showing people how to build? And it's not a 1 sample thing, the sample was ordered for a test and it had problems.

@NLX78 i can see where your coming from because it is a bit of a hassle checking the wires and making sure all components are there but then again if you aren't checking to see if your product is in good condition and has all components regardless of what you buy and get shipped then isn't that really on yourself, especially if that product is faulty and a simple check when it arrived could have saved you a headache or two :)
P.s my comment was more towards the ingenuity of the advertisement of the business rather than the product itself

The paper they give you with an OEM copy of windows is a physical anticounterfeiting measure technically. They take your computer compare your windows key against the paper one on the case (or in your personal files).
I think it was really great to see your reaction to stuff and wanting to address issues.. Perhaps have Linus review new builds every now and again - see if any check list items aren't being done.

38:50 PC Part Picker does not, include software as in windows. Nor does it account for working out the box, burn in testing, building, extras like branding and time or labour.

This is actually really great for Starforge...
Linus is clearly very well trusted in the community, and this kind of information and criticism going straight to the CEO and the rest of the company is something other companies would pay millions for in product reviews and consumer satisfaction data. Nothing but a big fat W here.
The ONLY real problem with LTT is his UNASHAMELESSNESS of CONSTANT HAWKING of his OWN products that now sometimes eats into whatever he is doing to the 25% mark of the entire segment! At this point I myself have UNSUBSCRIBED HIM for this VERY reason some months back. He seems MORE interested in doing this than actually reviewing things now a days. And that's another reason that I like Gamer's Nexus as well, they show ONCE their main sponsor at the VERY beginning and MAYBE their own thing WHILE doing whatever is the subject of the day is. Then it's ALL about the subject at hand... PERIOD!!! LTT frankly is more interested in HAWING CRAP than doing real reviews - it's like this for YEARS now and frankly I think the ENTIRE fan base is FED UP with LTT for this VERY reason!

I do installs for a internet provider n we use eeros n i always leave the plastic films till I enter the customers home with them to show its brand new
This is why you have someone put together your PC who considers it like their own. I just saw the Power Led Reversed and am Laughing as someone who has put together thousands of systems and always checked every connection 3 times. As you build a PC, things do get pulled or knocked.
1. Always seat a connector fully and check to make sure it is.
2. Before applying power, double check every connection so nothing releases the magic smoke.
3. Before packaging the PC, TRIPLE Check every connection, Because people always make mistakes and I'm not going to be one of them.
Always factor in the unexpected. Triple Check everything as you go, especially at the end.
It's so refreshing to see someone be so open to constructive criticism of their company. Major respect.

Well they have to be now as they got shit on for trying to silence criticism at the start by banning people and then going on the offensive with some silly slideshow presentation on Emiru's stream making out like all the critics were dumb. They focused on the small minority of people comparing their prices to DIY, when a lot of the criticism was down to their prices and specs being worse than competitor pre-buits. They then reduced the prices and increased specs so were obviously wrong in the first place.
"I thought he was complaining and now he wants 3?" best line in the whole thing. I appreciate that this twitch guy was able to watch his own product get reviewed. That had to be nerve racking.
A bit sad that Linus didn't communicate a bit better that he wanted a clear one that changed colour depending on the lighting behind it rather than just a paper slip. It's super weird that their logo on the centre piece is the darkest in the entire computer.

In shipping I just assume the memory would have jiggled loose so I'd always reseat the memory and many pins I can see. It's a problem due to shipping and not due to how good a pc is made.
Also about the Starforge Logo, the "rounded" handle end should've been more square.
Y'know. it's so like Asmon to take every single criticism on the chin, address them for the most part and then continue, not getting mad at anyone anyone in the company, or mad at Linus, or trying to brush off his criticisms at all. Asmon is a very intelligent man. I've said it in several comments. He has this constant awareness of what to say and what not to. This video was really interesting to watch for that reason.

As a former builder for several years .. Linus gave a good critique and Asmon good for you for taking notes and hopefully you get your team on board.

@@fade2black001 Right, the whole purpose of an SI for them to build and configure a computer for you, because you don't want too. You pay for the convenience and you pay for their service. It literally says in the video that their prices are good relative to the competition.

I do build PC ONLY FOR FRIEND - and never ask for building or managing costs. The last one cost me 60% of the total price to repair it. ...and yes, it was a simple thing but my friend was not able to do it by himself with me on videochat. Highways are not free in Italy, nor the fuel, and doing 700km for free in one day is what you do for a friend, not for a customer.
the only problem with the sticker being on inside the case is that over time that sticker is gonna gather dust or bubble up becoming ugly, and on your supposed plug and play goal of buying a prebuilt system it makes the end user open their case and try to fix something down the line.

Been watching Linus since 2011, this was by far the best QC you could have ever hoped for to find all the shortcomings and for free too.
Truth. Linus is fair but also critical. It would have been truly amazing to get a much better review than this.

I’ve never watched a streamer have such a human reaction to something. It wasn’t full of over the top reactions that didn’t need to be there, and it wasn’t dismissive of the criticism that was given. By the end I felt so happy for him because he seemed so happy that his company succeeded. Needless to say I loved the video.

Ironically he’s a pretty stoic/introvert guy, but even still gives a much more entertaining “reaction” to such videos than most “charismatic”/extrovert streamers
Price matched b&h deal at microcenter for a legion pro 7i for 2099. Was rocking a 3060 laptop before and getting 40ish on medium settings 1080p 15inch. Now I can rock every setting pretty much rock almost max settings with rt at 100+ fps at all times or still get 70ish with frame gen etc all at 1600p Anyone gets the chance and is looking to upgrade I highly suggest.
When I used to work in retail building and configuring new systems or like setting up new off the shelf systems for clients I used to always give them the option if they wanted to peel the plastic protectors off because that’s like the best part of buying new shit, so when I checked them in I’d give them the option of unboxing it or I’d leave on the ones I could while still doing the job and allow them to peel it off when I sat down with them at pick up time to go over the system and show them what all we did and set up anything that needed logins and stuff. Only a few customers really took advantage of it but the ones that did liked that I saved that for them or gave them the option.

@@G-man420 if CZcams gave creators a dollar per view, which is what your implying, Google would have left it to die as it would be far too expensive to run, LTT does not have regular videos surpass low five figure income in the first month they were posted (based on rough CPM numbers and excluding sponsors who pay for the expected traffic sent by the LTT video). Individuals clicking on the link and leaving a like and comment on the original gives the creator basically no money, literally thousandths of a cent.
A tip I would give is a "before you get started" sheet like some SIs do. It tells you to check connections that may have come loose in shipping etc. It does happen quite often with the abuse that is the shipping industry.

@@hasea0295 not weird. Just bugs to be ironed out in the way of quality control. Zach being the way he is will undoubtedly be following up with the spare parts thing with other customers and ensure that it is covered in the future. I think others will be a bit like me in expecting these guys to be learning on the go as they mess things up and work to cover themselves to keep the goodwill with the community.

I like Asmon, but he does have a history of saying he'll do something and come to find out 6 months later he's still complaining or hasn't done a single thing to remedy it. I hope it doesn't take him that long to send a message/make sure these things get ironed out.

I would be EXTREMELY wary of warranty issues. You better know the expected life on all those parts and be super cautious of manufacturer quality issues.

It's more expensive but for newer pc users I would recommend buying a pre built for your first build as if you put it together and something not working it's really hard for new users to troubleshoot where as if you buy a pre built if it not working you send it back and the company sends you a working unit

As stated by others, the CPU waterblock is rgb, all you need is to supply 2 pucks, the first one completely clear and the 2nd one clear but with the Starforge logo etched into it. That way with the custom Starforge puck the logo will show no matter what colour they set the back light to.

It boggles my mind that I'm a complete novice in the grand scheme of PC building compared to guys who have experience in previous businesses that built and shipped PCs and even I was like "why the fuck didn't they just include 1 etched clear cap and 1 plain cap?".
My first PC I bought was "PC in parts" that meant that all the parts were compatible but I had to assemble it myself, that's the best way to build your first PC. Next time you will feel more comfortable building it yourself and once you need to upgrade you can start smaller by only upgrading one thing, all thought if your computer is getting old you often need to change the motherboard and that basically means you need to change everything

That was my gate, my grandparents bought my my first tower in 13ish, I've built off of that since, and this computer is still going today, though not recognizable from the tower it started as a decade ago!
i do have this case and the power light for mine seems to be for hard drive usage. mine was set up correctly as a side note

Even still knowing it's a hammer... it still looks like a Blue Origin penis rocket. If there had been some horizontal lines breaking up the grip of the handle, it would definitely read better as a hammer, but as one solid piece, it is too vague.
He pointed out a few minor issues, but all in all I felt he gave you guys a solid review that can only help your company in the long run

Well, they're "minor" issues to people who know how to fix them themselves, but to people who don't know about PCs, this can cost tons of money and time to resolve. You're not going to succeed being sloppy.

I'd be annoying as hell to have to send it back if you weren't able to spot and fix it yourself, but that's just a matter of time lost. You aren't paying for the shipping for repairs while under warranty, at least not according to this very video.
Asmon, make the tip of the logo pointy like a hammer with a pointy sharp metal for pommelling or for some use with opponents. Something like that.

This was an extremely positive review by LTT, out of all the prebuilt PC companies I've seen him review I think only ibuypower came out about as well as this. Most had at least one major issue to be addressed but there were only really a few minor ones here. Not what I was expecting at all.
And honestly, minor problems are ones you expect from a new company. These sort of QC items are just a matter of updating a few small practices rather than having to overhaul any major component of the company itself.
If they keep it up, then it's mostly up to their marketing and sales.
Yeah there was an issue, the price. It isn't that hard to build a pc and they are charging out of the ass for their pc's..
@@GreenSlug420 Obviously people are willing to spend the additional money on having their PC prebuilt, otherwise these companies/services would no longer be provided/exist. Also, the fact that people are willing to spend thousands solely for a GPU should be a fair indication that people are willing to spend the extra money to have someone build their PC for them, and for it to be covered by a warranty, as opposed to saving money and potentially destroying parts or the PC itself.
Honestly as a Product development and production optimization engineer, the fact that You throughly go through all the points and take them to heart, and take action to resolve the issues, is better than 90% of businesses out there, dont take it personal, but take the information and evolve from it, very good man!
