If you have a DDR5 motherboard, make sure that the RAM sticks you have are on the QVL (approved RAM) list for your motherboard! Or you may run into some instability. For all DDR4 setups, I would highly recommend enabling it so you can get the most out of your RAM sticks! In this case, I went from 2667mhz to 3600mhz, so the PC will run faster. A few weeks ago i built a new pc with ddr5 and when i activated EXPO (the amd version of XMP for everyone who doesnt know) and i instantly noticed performance and stability issues. Also my boot time went from 13 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes. If you are having issues like that go back into bios and disable it. If it takes waaaay to long to even get into bios you can disconnect your pc from the outlet and take out the cmos battery to reset your bios to default settings

Look simple because it is. just read the manual that comes with the motherboard. Who would have guessed reading the instructions is the solution to avoid these missteps. We don't need more CZcams build guides your motherboard manual already has a board specific one that reminds you to enable xmp or take the sticker off the heatsink

Happened to me. Custom built from large gaming company. Had it for a long time, did not cause problems until I upgraded the GPU. Then the cpu thermal throttled like a crazy monkey!! That's how I found out, during change of thermal paste. I was shocked! Got a pretty sweet deal from them and upgraded to 7800x3d and a new rig. They were PRETTY embarrassed. Also removed the plastic on the old Intel one and added new paste...seems to have survived the looong time of cooking 😊

Even more important. Go into additional mouse options in settings, go into pointer settings and uncheck "enhance mouse precision". This is windows' built in mouse acceleration and will make it impossible to make your aim in games the same motion as your mouse does. Unchecking it will make learning aim possible instead of having to counter the accel. Aim training will finally work.

you dont have to enable xmp, it increases performance but can reduce life span of your computer. Unless you are gonna run high end apps like games that need big amounts of fast ram then enabling it would be a good option

Nope, but they do take a lot of research in understanding what is compatible. There are lots of resources online to help. Best way to learn is to watch build video tutorials.
They are pretty self explanatory, you just lock your parts into place in the motherboard. Don’t stress over putting in your graphics card, it’s easier than you think.
I just love to share this: If the BIOS battery runs dry, for people that unplug their PC or turn off the power strip after shutdown, the BIOS settings will reset, disabling XMP, in some cases causing the PC to freeze or have bluescreens with memory related error codes. The RAM is not dead, the little cell on the motherboard is. Easy fix.
my 570-e gaming mobos holder for cmos battery doesnt hold it correctly, it resets bios constantly if it moves.. n e solutions besides getting a new part sodured on?
@@core36 the holder, it is attached to board, but the cmos battery wiggles and any little movement causes it to fully reset ppc along with bios.. very frustrating as the MOBO was over 400 US
@@iamthemusicman13 did you check what the print on the battery says? The type is usually printed in big clear letters, visible without taking the battery out of the socket. If it wiggles, I suspect that the battery is the wrong size. If the print says anything else than CR2032, then there’s your problem. A CR2016 has a thickness of 1.6 millimeters, half the thickness of a CR2032, which is 3.2 millimeters, that is supposed to go there. By extension, a CR2025 is 2.5 millimeters. The first two digits refer to the diameter, in millimeters, and the last two digits refer to the thickness, in tenth of a millimeter. If the print is CR2032, you can try another brand of batteries, maybe there was an error in manufacturing of the battery. otherwise replacing the socket may be the only option to save the board.
if you hold shift when clicking on restart pc, on boot it'll bring you to the recovery screen, in which you can access bios through the advanced options menu WITHOUT having to demolish your del key. as relatively peaceful as demolishing is is.

Hey another tip! Idk if for every single bios is like this, but I've had my pc for a little over a year now and I did enable XMP after getting it all nice and set up, but after maybe 8, 9 ish months I switched from 16, to 32 gigs of ram and apparently I had to re-enable XMP on my new set, so if you ever upgrade anything, make sure you check something like XMP if you upgraded ur ram recently! hope it helps
If you have a real toaster of a cpu you might want to limit the wattage on PL1 and PL2 in ICPU Power Management to reduce tendency to thermal throttle.
I would recommend to manually check the cooling kurves I bios. And set them up. For the newer ones: your pc shouldnt get warmer than 80°C the better option is to setup the cooling kurves at 70°C on max cooling.

I just had my friend build a brand new PC with 14700 and a 4080, but spent 20 dollars on a CPU cooler while he spent 250 on a motherboard just because it had built in wifi. Fun fact, he has Ethernet and never uses wifi anyway
My brother had upgraded his GPU and ram on his own and 6 months later when I stopped by to do maintenance on his PC, his GPU was at 80% power limit instead of 100%(could go up to 120%) and XMP was off.
Technically (or at least in linux) you could assign cloud memory as swap/pagefile "ram" but unless you got like a gbit connection there isnt really a benefit... There was a post somewhere of someone who put their google drive as their swap...they had 1tb of swap or something like that
What about the monitor refresh rate?! Make sure it's set to it's proper setting!!! I had mine running at 60 for 3 months before I realized 165 was my top. 😅
just a heads up, sometimes xmp can cause issues like failing to post and even one time, I had a ram just constantly blue screened even though it was set to run at the speed on the box which is technically "overclocked"
and check temperatures? always good to download something like hwmonitor & monitor your temperatures for a little bit. idle or under load, will give you a good idea of the cooling your system is receiving, especially CPU.
I only built 1 pc in 6 years that i've just upgraded over the years, now i understand that to build a PC all you really need to know is what goes where, what it vaguely does and how fragile some components are

If your bios reset, It’s probably your cmos battery. Go ahead and give that a replace then apply your bios settings again.

Also make sure to turn off the enabled-by-default motherboard overclock, or else your i9 13th/14th gen will try to pull 4000 watts and crash

Technically (or at least in linux) you could assign cloud memory as swap/pagefile "ram"
but unless you got like a gbit connection there isnt really a benefit...
There was a post somewhere of someone who put their google drive as their swap...they had 1tb of swap or something like that

just a heads up, sometimes xmp can cause issues like failing to post and even one time, I had a ram just constantly blue screened even though it was set to run at the speed on the box which is technically "overclocked"
and check temperatures? always good to download something like hwmonitor & monitor your temperatures for a little bit. idle or under load, will give you a good idea of the cooling your system is receiving, especially CPU.
sometimes people forget to enable blue tooth/wifi as well in the bios settings
