    b550m, 5800x, 3060ti, 32gb 3200ram. I got the 3060 12gb a few months back (I started with a 1650 because I built at the end of 2021 and GPU prices were crazy, so it held me over). Then I got a 3060, which was great. Way better than the 1650, or the 860 I had before that. I play mostly Fortnite, but I also purchased Hogwarts Legacy after I got the 3060. I wasn't able to play on my 27" 1080x60 monitor with ultra settings without dipping below 60 frames. Ended up sending the 3060 back, and got the 3060ti. Now I can play all max / ultra settings (RT off), and never dip below 60fps.
    I can see in the video here the 3060 is using 8+ GB Vram. But, the 3060ti is using 7+ GB Vram and getting more frames. So I don't know what shortcuts or texture reducing is happening. All I know is I am getting locked 60fps and I am happy. I wanted a system that could play max settings since my last system I kept 7 years and I was continually reducing settings in newer games to play with good fps. And I'll do that again now over the years. I just wanted to start with a 60fps locked at max settings. I'm happy :)
    I expect on 1080x60 I can leave this system as it is for at least another 2 or 3 years. I don't play tons of games. But here or there I'll pick a new one up. So, in a few years when something I want to play leaves me wanting more, I'll upgrade. But for now, it's awesome, and my video rendering times are cut in half compared to the computer I replaced.

      "With the combination of the faster clock speed, faster boost clock speed, and more VRAM, you'd expect the Nvidia RTX 3060 to be faster than the RTX 3060 Ti-but that's not the case.
      Despite having 8GB VRAM and a lower boost clock, the RTX 3060 Ti offers better performance. One reason is that the RTX 3060 has a smaller and slower memory bus than the RTX 3060 Ti. This means data exchange takes longer on the 3060, translating to lower overall memory bandwidth for the GPU."

      @@ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty Thats a good point, before using 12gb of vram you will need to turn down from ultra to achieve 60fps anyway. TI is faster, but will suffer to run ultra too even with optimized games. The bar is on the consoles, which uses 10-14gb of vram and focus on 1440p-4k, and as the games are starting to become next gen exclusives the vram will increase too. I think in a near future 3060ti will become a killer 1080p card to even sometime use 2k in newer games.

    in half these videos, the 3060 loads more vram into its buffer due to it having 12GB while the 3060ti only has to manage with 8GB, but the 3060ti is still running stable AND at higher fps, despite suffering from vram overflow.
    but would you look at that, the games on the 3060ti dont stutter and crash like some commenters predict, based on limited, cherrypicked benchmark runs shown by amd sponsored misleading channels like hardware unboxed.
    so here you have the evidence, just like in countless other benchmark videos, that if your gpu runs out of vram it doesnt automatically make the game a choppy mess.
    if that happens, it simply means you are playing a brand new game that has to be patched by the devs, or nvidia will release new drivers soon.
    but channels like hardware unboxed make a living by turning short-lived, temporary problems into as much ad revenue generating clickbait content as possible.

    • @MsNyara
      @MsNyara Před rokem

      If you play in 1080p, 8GB of VRAM is fine, most games will stop at 10Gb VRAM used which does not allows big overflows from 8GB. If you play in Quad or 4k HD it is a big issue, though. The more the overflow, the more the FPS gap shortens, and you can see it in this video (gap of 27% in non-VRAM intensive, gap of 17% in VRAM intensive), if a VRAM gap overfloe of over 40% capacity happens, shuttering happens, too.
      VRAM intensive games will be more common now that Unreal Engine 5 native function is at 12GB of VRAM to match consoles. A few AAA developers already stated they are making games with minimum requirements of 12GB to even enable 1440p.

Had this monitor for 8 years now and it is still like new, and it looks amazing. For 1080x60 gaming, I can max out any game right now that I play. Most taxing game I play is Hogwarts Legacy. And with all settings on Ultra, I get a consistent 60FPS locked, never drop below.
      So yes, for 1080 gaming, I expect this setup to last many more years. Maybe 3 or 4 years from now with the newest titles, I may have to lower some settings to high or even medium. But, yeah this card will last a good long while for 1080.

      Or if you care about Nvidia that much then go for a 4060. They cost about the same or less than 3060 Ti and it performs less than 10% worse, but you get DLSS 3.
