- On this duck hunt, we head out for the 2018 duck season opener. The outlook looked gloomy, with flood waters spreading the birds out all across the Midwest. It turned out being much better than we expected though.

Yeah I noticed that too! The microphone really picks up the little sounds like that when you are sitting behind the hunters. Thanks, I’m really enjoying filming again! I think the video I filmed today is going to be really good!

Thank you for noticing that! It is something I have really stressed to the guys this year. We’ve tried to do a lot better job picking out birds and knowing which ones we shoot, and keeping them separate from each other. I hate the “make a pile” mentality.
@@DrakeValleyOutdoors Use colored zip ties on the legs. You can pile them up but still identify individual's birds easily (and legally)

awesome. Love the videos. I know how hard it is to make duck hunting videos. I tried for a whole season and didn't get any worth while footage. Sticking to hiking videos on our channel now haha. Those are hard enough lol. Your camera set up is working nice this year. It looks good.
It is a struggle sometimes, but when it works out, it’s so worth it!

What chokes an loads were you guys using?
I think we’re all using Carlson Mid Ranges. #4s but would have been shooting #6s if we knew we weren’t going to have many shots at big ducks.
Nice video man, but quick question I’ve been trying to record my hunts, do you guys record the whole time and swap batteries or have someone just ready the whole time to hit record
So with the GoPro, I use a battery pack (you can find a link in the description under my camera gear) and a battery eliminator cable from CamDo. Doing this, I just run the camera for the entire hunt. I can get multiple hunts off that battery pack and also charge a phone a couple times, and I've still yet to get it below 2 out of 4 lights on the remaining power.
With my dslr camera, I kind of go back and forth. I'll film for 20 minutes, or sometimes just click it on when I see birds coming in.

It would certainly help. Unfortunately with all of us working 8-5 or more, a puppy is just too much responsibility right now if we want to be able to spend the proper time with it.

The camera makes it out to be a lot darker than it is. We didn’t start shooting till 15 minutes after legal shooting time.
