First mallard of the year! Duck Hunting Public Land

We finally got some cold temperatures, with a 30 degree drop off. It was a super cold duck hunt, but the big numbers of birds still did not show up. We took what we could get and finally shot the first mallard of the year. When things got slow we had some fun in the blind.

I was so upset that I wasn't pointing the camera at him, but we were all rolling when we reviewed the GoPro footage and realized that it caught him! Kid is a trooper though. It was a frigid day and he stuck it out!

Yeah, we had breakfast burritos that I made the night before last weekend. It was amazingly refreshing. Now that we have the bigger boat we can afford to fit some real food and a grill lol

It's been amazing. Some of our spots have been too shallow to use our normal access point, so we've had to boat in 4 miles from another direction. Never could have done that with the last boat.
