This is what duck hunting is about! - Public Land Duck Hunting

This video is the epitome of why I duck hunt. This is probably my favorite duck hunting video that I have recorded so far. When referring back to my video discussing why I started filming hunts again, this is exactly what I want every video to be like. Ducks decoying, good shooting, and having a great time joking around in the blind with my best friends.
Will every hunt and video be like this? No. There will be bad days hunting, but that is what makes days like this so special.

Those 1st 3 ducks looked like early drakes to me. 2 wigeon and a gad. Gads, and to some extent wigeon, don't plume out til late.

Nothing stands out more than solid black in the marsh....other than a pink face surrounded by a black hoodie....Nice to see reasonable number of shooters and guys who can actually hit what they are shooting at.

Completely agree on the black hoodie, Warren. On this day, the birds didn’t care, but we had a discussion about it off camera during a later hunt.
I saw your comment on another video earlier. 3-4 is the most I like to hunt with. I’d maybe allow for a 5th in the right field hunt. And we have our fair share of misses, that is for sure, but we like to shoot them in close to minimize on misses.

@@DrakeValleyOutdoors I loved how you got them in tight and most of the birds flared and hung there for some nice easy shots. Perfect execution in my opinion. I loved how a couple teal on afterburner came through low and tight. No chance on those guys.

Thank you! I mentioned in a recent video that working birds into the decoys is often more enjoyable to me than actually shooting. I just find no joy in shooting them when they’re high. Those teal are agile little buggers. Sometimes when they’re close, you just can’t swing fast enough!

Great shooting. Looks like a great hunt. I use breatheable waders and have no prob standing in knee deep after. All about the layers.

Yes, I had the gradients on. For now, I'm still blaming it on not being used to the colder water. Last season I hunted in them on days that they were getting ice on them, and never felt cold.

Yeah we were still in the 1432 at this time. This was just shortly before getting the 1648. As you can see it was pretty loaded down, and we had to drag the sled to get everyone in.

If you're talking about at the very beginning in the dark, those are just distant lights on houses, barns, ect. They're over a mile away.
