A struggle with stale birds - Public Land Duck Hunting

It has been a rough few hunts. Birds went stale after a long string of consistent temperatures. Didn't stop us from getting out there and giving it a shot. Duck hunting isn't always about shooting limits, and it is hunts like this that make you really cherish the great duck hunts.

Thank you for being a great example by packing up and moving along when you noticed another hunter set up before you nearby. Got up super early a few weeks ago to set up a big spread. Got myself all set up and tucked in when I noticed two other guys starting to set out their spread 75 yards down wind from me just before shooting light. I shined my headlamp at them only to see them stop for a minute, look at me, then continue setting up. Was a beautiful morning of listening to them use up at least two boxes of shells and dropping pellets into my spread! Turned out OK in the end. Stuck it out till after they left and ended up with a greenhead and a shoveler on highly pressured public water!

Can't stand guys like that. Just ruins both of your hunts. Especially if they are downwind, because often the birds are going to have to pass over them while trying to come into your spread. We had some guys do this to us in the last hunt video, and we just picked up and moved further away. Usually they are the last to show up and the first to leave.

Unfortunately not. Especially with social media and videos (my own included). I still like to do my best to not explicitly disclose the locations I am hunting and give as little information as possible. Most of the people that recognize the locations have probably already been there.
