  • Today I'm looking at the Drake Eqwader 2.0 MST Waders. I bought these waders 2 years ago, but really only used them last season. They have pretty well thought out seams, yet I still have leaky waders after only one season.

    I was looking into those just because the seam deal. One reason I hadn't already bought them is the boot design with those covers. I'll probably just keep with the cabelas. Just easier to return and replace. Waiting until they have the pre season sales to go return my super mags. They lasted me 2 seasons and the stitching in the butt started coming out and leaking pretty bad. I hate feeling like I just peed in my pants hunting.

      Both my hunting buddies have the super mags. One already had a leak in the crotch, the other is fine so far. It seems like Cabelas has a "lifetime guarantee", but I don't think they take that very serious.
      I don't know why it's so hard to make waders that are bullet proof lol

      Drake Valley Outdoors yeah they only replace for the last price they had them in the store. So for those they were on sale for 190 when they discontinued them last season and they were 240 new. So yeah you do take a hit.

    Waders are such a sore subject in duck hunting. You can buy cheap waders with zero "perks" for a buck twenty and they work great until you slice them open on something. Or you can buy three hundred dollar waders and the seems don't hold. I am glad I go with the cheap option....

    Little suggestion for any waders and I'd probably just suggest doing this on waders out of warranty. Where the threading is coming loose put a little hot melt glue on that area to hold the threads down. If the threads get caught on something and break there they are going to start unraveling pretty dang fast.

      All of the seams on these waders are suppose to already be sealed so that the threads are not visible. I'm using Aqua seal to re-seal the problem areas.

      I meant around the pockets, shell loops and around the top where you were showing the loose/fraying threads, sorry for not being clear. For sure keep using something flexible such as aquaseal as you are on the seams.

    I have the same waders. Finally got a hole in the crotch after 3 seasons of hunting hard. 3 seasons is good for me though. Had like 5 pair in the previous 4 years before I got those. Yeah they don't fit great on me either. It's like Drake thinks everyone is 6'2"+

      I wish mine had lasted that long. I had high hopes until that last week of the season. I wish they at least had a better warranty with them.

      I'm 6'3 and the only drake waders that fit my height is the breathables.

      I guess it depends on what kind of weather you are fishing in. After using breathable waders all hunting season this year.. I’ve decided I’d take breathable waders over neoprene in just about every situation.

    Every review I read and watch people say they hate the buckles on the boots. What the heck was Drake thinking with those?

    • @DrakeValleyOutdoors
      @DrakeValleyOutdoors  Před 6 lety

      I have no idea.. I understand what they were trying to do. However, it was poorly executed. Plus, I personally don’t want my wader boots cinched to my ankles if I fall in deep water.

    could you use those for ice fishing?

    • @DrakeValleyOutdoors
      @DrakeValleyOutdoors  Před 5 lety

      I've never ice fished before, so I'm not sure what appropriate gear would be for that. You may want a boot with some more insulation.

  • @faucettefarmsfishing5498

    Are these slim and short?

    • @DrakeValleyOutdoors
      @DrakeValleyOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      These are just regular sizing. The fit of them is a little on the slim side, as I'm really skinny and they aren't all that baggy on me. Height wise, I'm 5'10" and had some trouble getting the shoulder straps tight enough for me. So I'd say they are actually a little on the taller side.

    What's the price on the ll bean waders?

    • @DrakeValleyOutdoors
      @DrakeValleyOutdoors  Před 7 lety

      $300 as well. Those, however, have a lifetime guarantee. If you're not happy with them at any time, you can return them.
