Solo hunt in the rain and wind - Public Land Duck Hunting 2018

This was my first solo duck hunt of the year. Hunting in the rain and wind made it a struggle to film, but I still wanted to vlog how the hunt went. It may have been tough to film, but the ducks wanted to work perfectly.

@@DrakeValleyOutdoors Sure way to tell: if there is ANY vermiculation on a puddle duck, then it's a drake.

That is very interesting information. I did not know that. I did notice the vermiculation, as that is one of my favorite feather stylings on a duck. I was unaware that it was a characteristic exclusive to drakes though. Thanks for that knowledge!

Nice job on the limit! You can actually pick up a hand bilge pump for $20-$30. That may help you in a situation with a leaky boat or heavy rain in the future.

Yeah we are actually looking at upgrading to a bigger boat soon. Aside of the leaks, we’re really pushing the limits of what the boat can hold. We’ll definitely be getting a pump if we don’t upgrade soon, and our next boat will have one for sure!

@@DrakeValleyOutdoors What size boat do you have now? I have thought of getting a small 12 footer for duck hunting since it'd be lighter and easier to access certain spots than my 16 footer.

Ours is 14x32. It’s a little too small for 3-4 guys lol. But it’s great for 1-2 when we want to get out in the shallow stuff.

A plastic sugar scoop is cheaper, faster, more reliable. One has worked to me for nearly 30 years.

Yes, the jacket kept my upper body very dry. It is a great jacket for the rain.
