Why did I stop posting? And what brought me back

  • This is a little different video than my usual duck hunting videos. I made this video for the loyal viewers that were asking why I quit making videos. The channel went dark almost a year ago, and for those of you that care to know, I wanted to explain why I stopped posting videos.
    More than that though, I wanted to explain what brought me back to filming videos because it is very important to me. I have matured as a person and a hunter over the last year, and now the videos mean so much more to me than just kill shots, likes, subscribers, ect. I want to capture the memories with my best friends in the blind.

    Dude glad Your back. I follow most of these guys and seriously enjoyed Your content more than any of em. Really You and freelance are about the only ones I can stand and enjoy watching 👍🏽 keep it up it makes the days at work when I’m not hunting much much easier. I was hoping you’d blow up like all the other Kansas duck vloggers did

      I really appreciate that Steve! Honestly, when I first started making videos, I aspired to be a "big" youtuber and that was at the heart of why I made videos. Part of deciding to come back was changing my entire mindset with the videos. I no longer care about how big the channel gets, or how many views the videos get. I'm making the content for me, my friends, and my family. Sharing the content on CZcams is just a bonus, as there are many of you that I love sharing the videos with and hearing your feedback. That's also why I'm totally fine with keeping some of the videos private. Drop me an email Steve, drakevalleyoutdoors@gmail.com

    I enjoy your videos and totally agree with your new plan and focus. You hit the nail on the head -- "fun" and "relatable" are why I watch FDH and I enjoy that element of your videos too.
    One other thing I don't see a lot of in duck hunting videos: personally, every duck I kill means a lot to me. I pick them up and just marvel at them and their beauty. I do realize some people are put off by a dead thing that is bloody, etc. But it can be done.
    Keep it up. Look forward to your coming productions.

    I’ve been ducking hunting heavy these past couple years and got it to filming my own hunts! Also been watching a lot of CZcams videos from fellow Kansas hunters to just see how they do it! We had a stellar duck season last year and also shot quite a few geese!

    I feel ya on sometimes just wanting to leave the camera in the bag or at home. Adds just another level of unnecessary stress to a hunt. Glad your back at it though man. We’ll have to get together again this year and get on em.

      I'd love to make a trip down sometime. Probably won't be able to this year though. With starting a new job last year, my availability to take time off is very limited.

    Thanks for the narrative. I personally appreciate insight and the story about struggles of a hunt, much more than kill shots and product marketing!

      As do I. Which means, I may post some pretty boring videos from time to time, because I know there will be some incredibly slow hunts. It just happens, and I want to share that, because I want to document those days for myself. I also want to show all these newer hunters that not every single hunt is going to be a "12 man limit" or "huge pile" hunt, and want to do my best to show that's not what hunting is about.

      I still love it! Only had one problem when it was below zero. Put a couple drops of oil on it and it was good the rest of the hunt.

    To me when birds decoy it is a successful hunt. My shooting is another story. I don’t have o limit out, decoyed birds mean I did something right. Whether it was my scouting, decoy spread or my calling.

    • @DrakeValleyOutdoors
      @DrakeValleyOutdoors  Před 5 lety
