Cloudy Day Mixed Bags - Duck Hunting Public Land

Duck numbers have still not been great on our public land, but we found success on this cloudy day duck hunt. We got a mixed bag of green-winged teal, mallards and wigeon. It was a fun day in the duck blind!

Sometimes I find that if ducks don't respond well to calls then switch to your goose call and it must give them confidence because it definitely works to bring them in. Nice hunt

No, we didn't have any birds really flare. We had good cover over the front and decent cover over the top. He's got a more natural looking camo hoodie on his Christmas list though lol
We tried to move back into the trees 20 feet and it made to difference to the birds, so we're pretty confident that they weren't seeing us.

Did you end up getting LL Bean waders? I saw your drake wader review and wondered if you ended up getting them.

Yes I did get LL Bean waders. Love them, other than them being really baggy on me.

Drake Valley Outdoors seems like it’s hard to find waders that aren’t baggy unless you’re just bigger or stalkier. I saw LL bean had a sale going on so didn’t know if they’d be worth it. Do they run big or small in the boots at all?

I believe you could call them pretty true to size. I wear a 9 boot daily, but my Drake waders were 8s, so I ordered the LL Bean in 8s (also wanted the "small" size option). Boots ended up being too small so I had to send them back in and get 9s.
