I’m so glad Stay Alive is on here. I LOVE that movie. I used to call it a guilty pleasure along with Thirteen Ghosts but I’ve decided recently there is no guilt associated with how much I love those movies 😂
Stay Alive was good, I'd forgotten about that one
Exactly! I say, just call it a pleasure!
I liked stay alive, i def think the unrated version makes it a more cohesive movie though
Both David Cronenberg and Shinya Tsukomoto have made body horror films about the merging of man and technology. Highly recommend their movies, especially ones like Videodrome and Tetsuo: the iron man
Guess this runs in the Cronenberg family because Brandon, his son, made Possessor.
Agreed. Existenz too.
i simply can't get over videodrome 😭
The way my 2000s horror heart leapt when I saw title for this video. Great list! Some of my favorites when done right.
I love these top ten videos you have been putting out! You also look super cute in this, giving me very Tecna from the Winx Club vibes 👾
My 2 absolute favs desktop/tech movies are "Searching" and "Spree".
loving the 2000s hair
I think one missed call is so underrated. Thanks for showcasing it here
My favorite tech horror movie is definitely Upgrade. I don't know if you would personally count that movie for what this list is, but man, everything about that movie is just perfect. I'd also put V/H/S/2 and Inside No. 9: Cold Comfort
HOST is a terrific movie. I remember renting GHOST IN THE MACHINE as a kid, and that had the first technology scares I ever encountered.
I mentioned Ghost in the Machine too. Nice to see someone remembering that little one.
I didn't like it I thought unfriended was an lot better than host
Completely agree with you about the One Missed Call movies. The original is my favorite, but I was actually pleasantly surprised how good the remake is.
I thought Upgrade (2018) was a great tech horror! Loved the camera movement and utopian/dystopian world building.
Oh 100%! Really didn’t think it’d be my thing, but I loved it! In my top 10 horror films for sure
Same here! Very entertaining
Upgrade is amazing
I kept waiting for Await Further Instructions to pop up on your list… a great horror movie exploring technology and its relationship to obedience to authority
"Searching" (2018) is one of my favorite films of all time (although obviously more of a thriller).
As far as early 2000s tech horror, "The Collingswood Story" is an underrated one. I can't say that it's "good", and some of the acting is...less than stellar, but there's something very fun and comforting about it, and it has a great autumnal/Halloween vibe.
Searching was such a great movie. It beat my expectations and I enjoyed it very much.
Searching was great. Definitely worth the watch.
Searching was great!
The 2008 movie "Untraceable" I think would make a great addition to this list, plus it's an early 2000s horror! It's about this website that is streming the slow deaths of kidnapped victims, and the fbi agent trying to stop it. The twist tho is that the more people that enter the live stream, the faster it kills the victim. It's pretty good tbh!
Thank you for this comment! I was trying to find this movie and I only had vague memories of it. I thought it was a fever dream! Some of those deaths I will never forget omg Ty
I love Untraceable, but it's probably more thriller than horror, which might be why it wasn't included.
I really like Rings. I own it and find myself rewatching it pretty often. That opening scene in the plane is terrifying.
Glad to see The Den here. I actually found it hard to watch since the entire film was basically "terrible things happening to the female lead".
stay alive is one of my favorite horror movies from the 2000s I love that you mentioned it
I love your outfit!!! Also I'm so happy that you've mentioned Stay Alive because I've been obsessed with this movie since it came out :D I like The Rings as well, idk why so many people hate on it.
this gonna sound crazy but your voice is so relaxing it makes me sleepy I love that
I'm lovingggg these horror subgenre top 10 lists you've been putting out. It's such a fun way to get new recs and I feel like it must be so fun to research and put the list together. I have never heard of stay alive, but it looks right up alley so I'm gonna check that one out! Great video as always :)
Ok before I watch this video I just want to say you're looking like an early 2000s icon 🔥🔥🔥
Please watch dead set (2008) on Netflix!! Reality tv show themed and it’s great!!
omg yes NEED to watch this asap
The Japanese version of one missed call’s ringtone is my current ringtone 😊
I agree with all your recommendations and I just love your channel!! Unfriended is a treasure and one of my ultimate guilty pleasures. Also like Upgrade, Cabin in the Woods, Belko Experiment and Escape Room that i consider somewhat techi-esque!
I have yet to see Possessor but heard good things...
Okay a) I AM 100% OBSESSED WITH THE OUTFIT. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. We need a 2000's inspired look-book asap and b) I totally recommed the South Korean horror film Phone from 2002. Absolutley fantastic tech-horror! Love your vibs and how unapologetic you are about your opinions, keep up the amazing work!
I also thought child’s play (2019) was a pretty good tech version of chucky. Not my favorite in the franchise but wasn’t a bad movie, I enjoyed it.
i feel like there are much more techno thrillers than horror tbh. nerve (2016) is one of my favorites that I always rewatch lol
Someone mentioned "Searching" and tech horror makes me think of "Friend Request ". Could you make a social media horror list?
I love the Japanese Pulse. I think the "ghosts" and the ending were soo haunting, original, and scary. It has a really unsettling quietness. Curious about the remake but I almost love the original too much to check it out.
Cannot wait for your VHS tier list!! When it comes to tech horror one of my personal underrated favorites is The Signal. It stars my horror crush AJ Bowen in a story similar to Stephen King’s Cell and follows it’s 3 leads through 3 interconnected segments, each with a different director. Lol it’s a lot of a lot but I love it!!
I'm glad to hear that you will be making a tier list for v/h/s franchise. I've recently watched the entire franchise and I enjoyed it. My favorite segment is The Subject. I hope it gets a spin-off.
Hell yes for VHS! One of my all time favorites. I’m also happy to see Unfriended on this list! I feel like a lot of people loved to hate that movie when it came out, but I genuinely love it!
Great list! I don't know if you have these lists already but I LOVE movies about games/puzzles and experiments/drug trials and stuff like that. That would be so cool 😎
Really enjoying these videos where you cover a specific subgenre/theme.
Cool topic! The two "tech horror" films that I thought of were Brainscan (1994,) about a video game that uses new technology that links with the player's mind in a horror gaming experience that puts the player in an ultra realistic perspective of a murderer, only to realize after that the murders are actually real... Or are they? And Hardware (1990) which is a cyberpunk horror suspense thriller about a tooth and nail fight against a murderous robot. Also I appreciate your reviews and opinions I like your channel, I've enjoyed some good recommendations from here
Love that you included Stay Alive! I liked Ratter - woman being stalked through her phone and laptop, the film is shown through the various cameras which I thought was cool
I was lucky enough to see Cam on the big screen at Fantastic Fest and thought it was, well... fantastic and got a Q and A from the writer and director after. It is one I've gone back to multiple times.
I also love the V/H/S franchise. So many good segments. I love well done horror anthology films.
outfit and hair is adorable. what a great video idea. you always come out with a perfect video i didn’t even know i wanted.
i feel like chatroom (2010) could fit in this list as well.
I love that you included Stay Alive! Ever since I saw this movie I became fixated with naming my future daughter October. One of my favourite movies from my childhood!
im obsessed with your outfit in this you look so good !!
So glad you mentioned Unfriended! Definitely underrated!
CAM is one of my favourites! Great list 🖤🖤
omg this hair updo suits you SO well!! super cute Sarah!! 😍❤️
i love your content and have been subscribed to you for yeaaaarsss!!! seriously, thank you for never stoping making vídeos 💕🥺 also, followed you on tik tok
I’m SO glad you talked about The Den!!! SUCH an underrated movie!
Do a tier list of top 10 horror movie characters that almost made it but got killed
CAM was a very underrated but superb tech thriller. Glad you mentioned it. There was also a 1993 rarity called Ghost in the Machine which I rate could've made this list. Great list!!!
Pulse and Stay Alive have been on my fav list for years. The weirdest thing is that I remember Stay Alive wayyyy differently than what the movie actually is and I have seen both cuts. It's really strange. I was explaining it to my husband, so we watched it and I sat there like, "wait, this is not how I remember this!" Can't figure it out. Also, I love Kristen Bell, so her in a horror movie is golden. I also really like the V/H/S franchise as well. It has some really great shorts in it. Loved the video and I LOVE your whole look today. :)
Cam is hilarious! Bonus that the lead looks like a young Angela Bettis.
I think the V/H/S short that was my very favorite was the Spanish language one where the lead manufactures a portal to a parallel reality. That really should be expanded to a full movie. Excellent franchise overall, too.
Others that could make it here: Cloverfield Paradox, Hellraiser 4, Friend Request, Kronos.
I’m obsessed with your top 10 videos!
Im really surprised that you didn’t know nclude Upgrade (2018) by Leigh Whannell! I guess it’s more action/thriller though. Great effects and acting especially for the limited budget.
I love and resent Upgrade so much. The choreography is amazing!!!
@@thekawaiislartibartfast42 how do you love and resent it?
@@heatheraggus7501 the whole reason is rather spoilery but basically I wanted to know more!
@@thekawaiislartibartfast42 I can see that rationale.
Love this list! My husband and I can remember the days when we first started dating and could only call each other's cell after 9 to avoid high fees.
More top 10 subgenre videos, for sure! Loving it. Surprisingly, all of the One Missed Calls are wonderful! I didn't have high hopes for the sequels, but honestly, they're great.
So glad you mentioned The Den, it's massively underrated! In the UK it was released under the name Hacked. Also Stay alive! Great list 😁
Luv this list! I've watched all but Den & Host (because didn't know about them till know). Will be checking those out
I just discovered you, and I think I love you lol
Seriously awesome channel, love your reviews.
Just saw your post on twitter. I came as fast as i could 😂
Stay alive is my most nostalgic middle school/high school movie for me
feardotcom's synopsis reminds me of a book i looooved in my childhood, pretty much the same story except it was when ppl played a special game, and honeslty it's a good light reading, i still have it in my collection ! it's not from a popular author at all and probably isn't translated in english but yeah, reminded me of it, ALSO YOUR CAPTION IS SO COOL
Stay alive is such a good movie, thank you for putting it on the list
I remember “White Noise” 2005 freaked me out as a kid. I haven’t seen it in a while but I’m curious to know if you’ve seen that one.
Also “The Signal” 2007 is one of my all time favorites!
A psychological one (not super horror but very intriguing) “Starfish” 2018
Starfish is not a tech horror but I think you’d really like it especially considering melancholia one of your favorite films of all time!
Love your videos! Thank you for your recommendations ♥️
Love this video. My most recent obsession is the Halloween franchise. You should definitely rank them I’d love to see your opinions
Your look today is a vibe 🥰
congrats on 200k queen
Yes it's pronounced "RingOU" lol btw Sarah i would be highly interested in a review for the movie "Cherry Falls" because it's a pretty rare movie (i've seen you bought it) i liked it & i would be very interested about your thoughts on the movie ;) btw great content as usual as an horror fan lol (first time posting here ^^)
Sarah, you should definitely wear your hair up more often, it really suits you. Great content as always 👍👍👍
Love this list J tech horror is one of my fav genre as well and i also love the pulse remake! It's fun and legit scary at the same time
So glad you mentioned stay alive!
Maybe a weird category but I love road trip horror movies? Hitcher, Wrong Turn, etc. Could be a good top 10 list!
You are really crankin' them out!
I was so excited you said Stay Alive!!! Such an underrated movie.
I didn't understand feardotcom having such a low rating like yea I get the dialogue and what not wasn't great but such a great eerie atmosphere and compelling enough story imo. And loved the og pulse haven't seen the remake tho
Would love a VHS segment tier list!!!! Yay🖤🖤🖤
A favorite subgenre for me! Love the swampy Louisiana environment for Stay Alive too which I want to see more from again 🖤
stay alive stans rise up it's our time to shine
Stay Alive is in my top 5 2000s horror.
I remember seeing the trailer as a kid and waiting almost ten years to finally see it
Also, yes Ringu is pronounced "Ringoo".
Your top and hair are EVERYTHING
My favorite tech horror movie is Tetsuo: The Iron Man.
It's my kind of weird. 🤪
Solid list, would also recommend adding ‘Searching’ to this list. It is a great webcam thriller
I love the original Pulse (Kairo), that for wahtever reason I always thought it was korean, but you're right, it's japanese. The first half of the movie has so much genuin horror elements that I think it could work ok today, and the second part is sooo dreadful and sad. It's a bit long and incredibly slow, but I do love how that as well works in the horror. Amazing
I'm really digging your channel. It crosses genres with me.
I agree about Rings, I really enjoy it and watch it whenever it streams. I especially love the ending.
Hi, new to ur channel, so I'm not sure what u like for horror.
But there is an oldie I recommend for u that goes along with this list. It's from the 1970s (can't think of the year off hand)
Demon Seed. Actually ties in with now. Scared the crap out of me
Upgrade and The Invisible Man are some great recent additions to the genre! (Also does Ingrid Goes West count? I feel like it could be read as a horror movie, of sorts!)
Love those two as well.
Interesting. I've been putting off Ingrid for quite a while but your comment has me wanting to see it soon!
Great list! Love your outfit, where is this shirt from?
I love your outfit ! Tech horrors are some of my favorite guilty pleasures .
I like stay alive too. My favorite sub genre for horror is any kind of alternate reality. Deamscape, different dimensions, video game style. Freaking love them.
Could you do a ranking video of all the VHS scenes/clips/stories (I don’t know what you would call them) please? ❤️❤️❤️
I actually loved the american remake of One Missed Call, so much so that I had the ringtone set up as my text notification for a couple years, lol. I little morbid but it made me chuckle every single time.
Leigh Whannell's Upgrade and The Invisible Man are also really great modern tech horror movies!!
Cool list - definitely need to revisit a few of these.
My Little Eye from 2002 might be worth checking out.
I love Stay Alive! When Blockbuster was going out of business my family got the director's cut out a $3 bin. I used to be so proud that I wasn't scared when I watched it.
Stay Alive is hands down one of my favorites! Yay it's here on this list
I would include "Countdown". It's bad, but it involves a phone app.
Also another tech horror flick is the remake of Child’s Play.
The scare factor of Pulse aged so well I'm still wondering why modern horror haven't adapted to those tricks yet.
Unfriended is my favorite on this list by far. I also really enjoy the shorts of love, death, & robots on Netflix.
Great idea! Love your content always! 💜💛🧡
Hey Sarah as we get closer to summer what about a list of the best summertime daylight horror films.
Yes to the VHS tiered list!!
