Watch The Call 2020, it is a Korean horror film, It's so good. It's on Netflix.
Watch tumbbad the best horror movie of India 👍👍
I recommend you to watch--
High Tension "
The Orphanage, Eyes Without a Face, A Tale of Two Sisters, Ju-On, and The Wailing are some of my personal favorites.
Such a good list! I don’t see the Wailing mentioned enough, it’s 10/10 to me.
The Wailing blew me away, one of my favourites of the past decade!
I thought it odd visiting Walmart's DVD section & purchasing Dimension Extreme's releases of INSIDE & MARTYRS then having to show my ID to prove my age!
After watching them I understood why.😱 Both are brilliant movies & I saw that MARTYRS actually had a point. The ending is relentlessly paced.
Never bothered with the American remakes.
Yes! These are all awesome. I was coming to the comments to mention A Tale of Two Sisters (it's a personal favorite).
The French movie Titane is so brutal, shocking, and original. Totally wild, yet really really touching 😢
omg yesssss to all of that....very unique!!
The first hour of that movie had my boyfriend and I so pale and sweaty! It is so, so good, and we immediately watched it for a second time after we finished it. Just so much to unpack.
Absolutely loved Titane
That movie was such a Wild trip 😭
Do you really think that was a horror movie? Don't get me wrong, I really liked Titane but I felt it was more like some kind of black comedy
For me, Spanish horror has been my kick recently, obviously REC is incredible, and then recently I watched "Kidnapped" which is a home invasion done with extensive long takes, and I enjoyed that one a lot as well!
More of a thriller than horror but the Argentinian film “Perdida” is fantastic if you want more Spanish movies 😊
Ooh! You might like The Skin I Live In-More psychological horror for sure, but damn it is unnerving af.
Penumbra is really good Spanish horror.
Alejando Amenábar has some reaaaaally nice 90s 00s horror movies like Abre los Ojos or Tesis (or The Others, with Nicole Kidman! Yes, is his). I also enjoyed Fragile (cursed children hospital somewhere in britain). And if you like older movies, you got "Who Can Kill a Child?", I think is from the 70s. It's about a british couple, that go to Spain on vacation and take a boat to a small town on an island, not far. But in this island there is no adult, just children. They behaviour is really strange... Ô_o
I really like the movie “Veronica”
Battle Royale - my favorite movie for 20 years, and one of my biggest obsessions. There was a time I knew the name of all 40+ characters, their relationships, their designated weapons, their movements around the island, their ultimate fates, etc. It was also my introduction to Asian cinema and popular culture.
OMG I LOVE BR AND IM OBSESSED WITH IT AS WELL! I actually made a discord server for it
Touch some grass buddy
@@abaliagoob ?
dude I picked the book for review in high school and i'm so stoked with the story! I haven't watched the movie tho but the story... damn! It also tackled different interesting themes
All hail the girl Takako Chigusa. Rip to her when she survived being shot In battle Royale only to turn crazy, become part of the yakuza and then to be cheaply stabbed by the bride 😖😭😭😭
train to busan. it's also the best zombie flick, hands down.
I'd agree its the best modern zombie flick/movie and one of the greatest zombie horror movies ever made for sure. I'll always appreciate the classic old school zombie horror movies as well.
Garbage movie
Ju-On: The Grudge was my favorite foreign horror movie...
until I saw Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.
It answers the question of, "Why are the characters always filming?". Well, they're recording a livestream. That separates it from The Blair Witch Project for me.
Also Grabbers, Dead Alive, and My Bloody Valentine (1981).
Wait so your favorite film is… the third Ju-On film?
that’s right it’s the third in the series
A Tale of Two Sisters is probably my favorite foreign horror movie. Messed me up soooo much the first time I watched it!
Yes. Scary and an effective tragedy, just how I like my ghost stories.
Yes! So glad someone finally mentioned it.
Yes!! Masterful horror and one of my favorite ghost stories.
A Tale of two sisters is one of the greatest psychological horror movies ever made and one of the greatest Korean horror movies in general. It was messed up but in a very smart and well written way. It was a mix of horror, tragedy and psychological elements.
@@kd8663 agreed, i love my ghost stories to have great meaning, be effective with great ideas, psychological and atmospheric.
Check out “A Tale of Two Sisters” and “Kairo (Pulse)”. Also, it’s more of thriller than outright horror, but the original “Oldboy” is essential viewing.
My 5 favourite: Train to Busan, Gonjiam Haunted Asylum, Let The Right One In, Veronica and Ju-On
Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (2003) will forever be my favorite Japanese horror film
I love Ju-On: The Curse (2000) & Ju-On: The Beginning Of The End (2014)
I'm so happy you gave Chakushin Ari "One missed call" some love. The director Takashi Miike has directed some great movies and I feel like One missed call is his best mainstream take on the early 2000's J horror genre.
The main actress Shibasaki Kou is a very famous singer in Japan and sang the closing song which was also a big hit. The male lead is also very famous in Japan and starred in a very popular drama with the lead actress from The Ring.
Kou was the main reason I watched One missed call back in the day. I became a fan of her after her stint as the female antagonist in Battle Royale. I later saw her in 47 Ronin, which is a movie I'm certain she regrets, heh!
I love kou! She was so good as Mitsuko in battle royale
Suspiria (Germany)
Black Christmas, My Bloody Valentine, Prom Night (Canada)
Rec (Spain)
I liked REC much more than Quarantine.
@@robk.6591 Agreed!
Suspiria is an Italian film that takes place in Germany
Sarah, I totally agree about Martyrs! I hesitate to say I love it because that just feels wrong but it was one of the most unique and intense movie watching experiences I’ve ever had. It’s also stuck with me so much since seeing it, not just because of the brutality - I genuinely thought the story and the ending were incredible 👏🏻👏🏻 I was so scared to watch it and while I did watch some parts through my fingers, it was so worthwhile.
Funny Games (2007) is one of my fave horror movies ever. It’s genius and Naomi Watts is incredible.
You mean funny games us ?
If you liked the remake, you should definitely watch the original, it's from the same director (the 2007 remake is a shot-for-shot remake of the 1997 original). I personally think the antagonists are way creepier in the original, the actors are fantastic!
@@LiliCanal same the original is better imo because the actors
I watched Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum this weekend and it was the first one in a long time that actually scared me!! I loved it.
same, horror movies either are enjoying to watch or are grotesque, a genuine movie that scared me was gonjiam, two scenes in particular, the girl with black eyes possessed murmuring, and the mentally disabled guy spirit inside that room.
@@emperorpaws8447 hmm this movie didnt catch me in anything ,cant remember it , need to go watch it again
As a huge Dario Argento fan, disappointed Suspiria wasn't on the list. Both the original and the remake are fantastic!
I love the original! Have yet to see the remake.
@@lazyhippie6139 The Suspiria remake may be the only remade movie I actually prefer to the original! It's absolutely brilliant. It's completely different from the original in its style and message, but I love it! Highly recommend!
I hope you’ll delve more into Italian and Giallo horror sometime! Dario Argento rocks! Suspiria, Inferno (my personal favorite), Tenebrae, Demons 1&2, Phenomena, Deep Red, the list goes on and on!
I just took an International Film course and The Host is one of the assigned films! Sooo good! We also watched Tag and Norikos Dinner Table by Sion Sono which both have some body horror and psychological elements. Very strange films but super interesting and I would consider them both horrific in their own right
Was not expecting Inside (2007). That’s my favourite from the French Extremity class!
Also I’d say my favourite foreign horrors in general are Audition (1999), The Wailing (2016) and Hausu (1977)
Great selection :)
Inside was fantastic. I really like the French extremity era.
South Korean, "I saw the Devil" best foreign horror/slasher film I've seen!!
This movie caught me off guard. So good.
Ooh good one.
Nice list! Perfect blue, Train to Busan, The night comes for us 2018 and Macabre 2009 are my favorites.
Night Comes is insane. But it's more of an action flick no?
Good list! Some suggestions for part 2:
Train to Busan
Troll Hunter
Let The Right One In
Sleep Tight
Timecrimes
I Saw The Devil
Dead Snow
I've seen "I saw the devil" recently for the first time and... WOW, that was A LOT. Great one, but damn, I don't think I'm gonna rewatch it ever lol
Aaand Train to Busan is such an amazing classic ❤
I have the sequel on my "to watch" list, hopefully will be able to watch it soon!
Highly recommend The Wailing (free on Tubi rn)! and The Red Shoes (2005) seems like it would be right up your alley, BIG early 2000s horror feel.
Y E S!!!
Lately I've realised that a lot of Asian horror I've seen and loved is Korean and Thai. Korean movies vibe with me quite a lot, surprisingly, since I'm Polish and the culture is DRASTICALLY different
Alsooo you're the first person I've seen just randomly mentioning The Red Shoes! I loved this movie so much when I've seen it the first time and every time since (although haven't seen it in a while. Rewatch time!)! I've seen it when I was a young teen, probably younger than I should, whoops xD I love how they took the OG story and cranked up the horror in a beautiful, Korean way
@@SammySam191 Yay! Never met anyone else who knows The Red Shoes! So underrated, as far as 2000s Asian horror is concerned. I saw it through Netflix when you could still mail-order the physical discs lol.
Thank you for talking about foreign movies! People are missing out on so many great movies due to the language barrier and subtitles! Respect, great list.
One of my favorite horror foreign horror films is the Korean film The wailing in my opinion is really terrifying it leaves you thinking. Not enough people talk about it
I just watched Martyrs for the first time last month after having it on my list for over a year. It did not disappoint. Very intense but I went in expecting the worst which honestly helped. I was nervous to watch it because of how brutal I’ve heard everyone say it is. Not sure if I’ll watch it again but I am glad that I was able to cross it off my list! I watched Inside and Irreversible last month too. I was most afraid for Irreversible but I just skipped that 9 minute scene… if you know you know. Can’t wait to watch more of the movies on this list! Make a part 2! I loved this one.
have you ever watch The Green Inferno ? but be careful this movie is very gory btw😂
@@ramasyaks6077 I have! I saw it in theaters in high school. 😄
Tetsuo: The Iron Man is probably my favorite foreign horror film, all practical effects, looks like it could've came out a few years ago in the indy circuit but its from 1989, and its free on CZcams. Fair warning, its intense body horror that feels like a drugged up death metal concert, it definitely flirts with the line between pain and pleasure in sex in an odd way, so fair warning, but its just over an hour long and absolutely incredible.
I’ve never been this early I’m so excited!
I watched Gonjiam because of you, and let me tell you, --THAT-- scene is one of the scariest scenes I have seen in my life. I was literally shaking! And I had a hard time sleeping that night too lol but thank you so much for the rec. I hadn't been that scared (but also entertained) in forever!
I would add Shutter to my list. I liked the Shutter remake too. I would also add Let the Right One In, Wolf Creek, and Train to Busan.
Just an amazing list. I really love horror all around the world.
you should defined check out more italian horror movies, like the ones directed by Dario Argento! they are incredible
Will leave my foreign recommendations here (not including American ones cause those are foreign to me but not to the majority of y’all 😂😂😂)
- Raw (2016), Eden Lake (2008), The Platform (2019), A Classic Horror Story (2021), All My Friends Are Dead (2020), Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight (2020), The Loved Ones (2009)
Battle Royal was my favorite. Even 2 was okay, even though people hate on it. I found the somewhat enjoyable.
Yea I loved both br movies
My favorite foreign horror film is from 2004 called: Dumplings made in Hong Kong- it's very underrated but interesting conceptually but definitely can be triggering and thought provoking.
Good list. I would add, Them, Eden Lake, Haute Tension, The Vanishing, Hole in the Ground.
Some of my favorites not mentioned here are House / Hausu (1977), Raw (2016), Titane (2021), Blood Red Sky (2021), The Swarm (2020), #Alive (2020), The Platform (2019), Ravenous (2017), Evolution (2015), Baskin (2015), Spring (2014), Big Bad Wolves (2013), Ichi the Killer (2001), Timecrimes (2007), and I Saw the Devil (2010).
You should watch Goodnight Mommy, it's also an austrian film and is amazing, watch it in vost too of course, it's really subtle but really good and doesn't take itself too seriously
If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend Terrified from Argentina. Scared the crap out of me. Guillermo del Toro is producing a remake with the same director. Can’t wait!
I love Argentinian horror, so I'll get this one on my list. Thank you!
My Grandfather was Welsh and I spent time living there. Their art does not get enough recognition. Amazing authors from there too. As a Welsh descendant, their folklore, ingrained melancholia is worth exploring.
Thank you for listing The Feast
I love that Ringu doesn't make sadako into a generic evil girl like the remake. You only get like 5 seconds of sadako as a little girl and the only bad thing she does is framed as an accident or a girl who was scared of a situation and it's her death that is the catalyst for the "evil" that happens in the movie and there's some lovecraftian elements in this one which I always like.
(around 10 minutes in) when u were talking about “can u love a horror movie that you’ve only seen once” and i think so! personally i “love” sinister and midsommar, i watch a lot of youtube videos about it but only seen the movie one or two times :)
Awesome recommendations!! Thank you !
Australia has some worthwhile, but bleak films to check out: Lake Mungo, The Loved Ones, Cargo.
just watched dark water thanks to your recommendation! I fell in love with it so fast. it's so quiet and creeping, and weighs heavy on the heart. I adored it!
I lined up so many of these movies. thank you thank you! can't wait!
I checked out Gonjiam Haunted Asylum because of you. I don't scare easily but that movie got me pretty good once it got going
Really great episode. I really loved the 2016 Irish horror called A Dark Song which I truly believe is a lost classic.
great video! and yes please do a part 2. a few i haven't heard of on here and it's a good reminder I've still got lots to catch up on lol. but Battle Royale is one of my all-time faves!
as others have said, id recommend: The Wailing, Tag & Suicide Club. also not horror but a thriller: The Handmaiden :)
My favorite video of yours of all time!!! So so SO excited about this video, this made my day
Foreign horror has always been a special kind of joy. I'm sad I didn't document my old favorites back when Netflix had a lot of variety.
As a French guy I feel so proud whenever you mention a French movie as if I produced them myself haha. I LOVE Battle Royale as well ! It’s actually in my top 5 favorite movies ever!
The Sadness
Apologies for the obnoxiously large list but these are all some incredible - great foreign horror works, ESPECIALLY climax, pulse, threads, and possession
Pulse (2001), the skin i live in (2011), ju-on (2002), possession (1981), climax (2018), audition (1999), opera (1987), november (2017), house (1977), angst (1983), a girl walks home alone at night (2014), titane (2021), raw (2016), threads (1984), caché (2005), cut (2004), thirst (2009), dont look now (1973), noroi: the curse (2005), and eyes without a face (1960)
Titane is one of my favourite foreign horrors I’ve seen! So beautifully done. I left the cinema and didn’t know how to even begin to explain the way I felt about it or what it was even about. Also i don’t know if zombie films are horror or not ?? But Train To Busan is also incredible and I love it so much
Train to Busan is amazing and I'd say definitely horror!!!
Omg I didn’t know Ring was your fav ever! You rock! This just made me sub
Let the Right One In, El Orfanato, A Tale of Two Sisters, The Wailing, Ju-On, Martyrs, Inside are some of my faves. Top notch not just as horrors but as films in general.
One of my favorites is the German 2014 film called Goodnight Mommy! Thank you for sharing your list!
Super early for once!! Excited to watch this as someone who loves foreign horror! 💚
I do agree that French horror tends to be more about shock and body horror than psychological, not sure what they did to the French but they need therapy 👁👄👁
So looking forward to this list!
YESSSS one missed call is sooo good !! Such a beautiful concept . I would also include Ju-on : the grudge / REC / nobody sleeps in the woods tonight part 1 /the orphanage/ train to busan / the call /
what’s your opinion on Ju-On: The Curse (2000) & Ju-On: The Curse 2 (2000)?
I finally watched gonjiam after hearing you talk about it so much and omg it's so goooood haha
Yeeeaaaah martyrs babyyyyy! I’ve only seen it once as well, but I might revisit it at some point. I love how it’s got aspects of different subgenres (home invasion, revenge, creepy ghost hallucination lady? can’t remember exactly what she was lol) it’s just got a lot but it all ties up so well in the end.
Amazing list!
I love the original Dark Water, very creepy in parts, atmospheric and quite sad. Noroi the curse is another very good Japanese documentary style horror.
thank you for the list! will be buying most of these for my dvd collection omg 🫶🏼🖤
I love a lot of Italian horror as well, Suspiria, Deep Red, The Perfume of the Lady in Black, Blood and Black Lace, etc. For Canadian, gotta mention Cronenberg as well!
Great list. My all time favorite is the French film Eyes Without a Face (1960). Recently I watched a South Korean film called The Piper (2015). It's a retelling of the story The Pied Piper of Hammelin in postwar Korea. It's worth a watch.
Totally agree about Martyrs, it’s great but I’m not sure if I’ll ever watch it again. Check out REC if you haven’t
I loved "Hatching", "The Innocents", and "Speak No Evil."
Can't wait to see what you think of The Sadness that just came out on Shudder. Foreign Extreme horror, you're in for a treat
from what I’ve heard about it, I don’t think it’s up Sarah’s alley though…
@@leaoraissa Martyrs has that exact same content you speak of & it was in this list
I discover sooooo much foreign horror on shudder it's amazing!! The Eastern countries do horror so well!! Also you're looking so radiant lately, beautiful as always 😘
@@mc98smusicmoviereviews93 yes..... i'm a gay woman but even if i wasn't there wouldn't be an issue?
The Wailing is not just my fave foreign horror but my fave horror film of ALL TIME
so excited to hear you talking about funny games, my favorite horror movie by far! highly recommend it if you like extremely uncomfortable psychological horror.
@@mc98smusicmoviereviews93 nope, i am one myself
You might want to try Retreat (2011) which was made in the UK. Its a great horror thriller.
udition, Train to Busan, Suspiria, The Loved Ones, Tigers are not Afraid, Censor, The Devils Backbone
The Wailing, I saw the Devil, Tumbbad, Rec, Let the right one in
The trip on Netflix is a foreign horror that needs to be on your list.......all time favorite for me in this category..
..... just awesome.....
Oh hell yes! I really enjoyed that one!
Noroi, Ichi the killer and Pulse are three of my favourite jhorror movies.
The Medium and The promise for Thai horror movies
[Rec] for Spanish
Goedam (short films collection), The Bedeviled and The Wailing for Korean
I love it, but is Battle Royale really horror? If so, I'd say Valhalla Rising would be in my list. Also, I think The Running Man would be the original "lethal game" trope movie, but I could be wrong. The Loved Ones would make my list, too.
Ok, you convinced me. I'm checking out Gonjiam tonight. Better not suck...
Gonjiam Haunted Asylum is a great found footage scary 🎥
I Saw the Devil , 3 Extreme, and A ale of Twos Sisters are incredible, as well as he Quiet Family (horror comedy, but BRILLIANT)
Recently loved Space Sweepers 2021, this Korean space western film set in the future. It's so heartwarming and fun.
Your fav list is almost my fav list. Haha. Martyrs is my favorite from the bunch 'cause it's so powerful and beautiful in the end.
Cure, Confessions, One Cut Above The Dead, The Wailing, and Train to Busan are some of my faves
Thank you for shouting out Oxygen! I think it's so underrated.
The Feast!!
Great film from my home country of Wales
The American Dark Water can be considered kind of foreign, too, as the director, cinematographer and editor are all Brazilian, respectively, Walter Salles, Daniel Rezende and Affonso Beato. :)
Just watched Gonjiam because of you!
Great list! There are so many good foreign horror movies. One of my favorite horror movies is argentine, Aterrados (Terrified). It's a 2018 supernatural horror movie that really surprised me, right from the first scene.
one missed call!! i forgot how much i loved that one. i love this list :')
Have you seen the Korean horror movie Into The Mirror (2003)? I think you'll love that one if you haven't seen it. Don't see people talk about it a lot, when it's my favourite Asian horror. Has an american remake as well which isn't as good.
Im gonna need a part 2 asap!!!!
I loved watching Battle Royale because it was interesting to see how each of the students reacted to the situation ok and because of the gore :) Please do a part 2
The Blackcoat daughers is aswell a very good foreign horror movie
I do love horror and foreign horror. Many of the ones you've mentioned I've heard but not watched yet and one I would mention is a horror called Evil Dead Trap which last year was released in blu ray 1080p which is cool. Great video like always 👍 Memories of Murder is my all-time favourite movie. Even though it's not horror related
Great list
Have you seen Errementari: The Blacksmith and The Devil ? I think it’s on Netflix. It’s a great foreign film. I LOVE the practical effects. It’s not really scary, but definitely worth the watch.
Love your list. I would also included Coming Soon which is a fun Thai movie that can be hard to find, Alone (another great Thai one), The Loved Ones (Australian), Tenebre (Italian), Antibodies (think German Silence of the Lambs and has a came by Norman Rheedus), Mientres Duermes/Sleep Tight (Spain) and Let The Right One in (Sweden).
I've been really into Korean horror. Park Chanwook is probably one of my favorite directors. I highly recommend his vengeance trilogy, that includes Old Boy. It might lean more towards thriller than horror though 🤔 but definitely some horrifying imagery in all 3. Although my favorite of the three is Sympathy for Mr Vengeance.
Love your list and added a lot of them to my watch list!
I was looking for someone to mention the vengeance trilogy! I love love loveee all three of them.
@@crowdsalad6814 Same!!!! they are so good!!! I'm so excited for Park Chanwook's new movie!
