I love how you're obsessed with early 00's movies. I am too! There's just something about them that just makes me happy. Don't know if it's the tacky fashion, the great soundtracks, etc. They have a whole vibe.
I’m into early 2000s as well! Most likely due to nostalgia though. But for me it’s also a way of re-experiencing a world without smartphones and social media. That’s what kinda makes them unique to me.
My favorite rainy day horror is I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Starts out all bright and sunny, but soon the storm comes, and I just love the camp and silly moments haha. Brightens up my rainy day for sure.
Plus the killer’s signature look is a raincoat! Makes me look twice whenever I see someone wearing one 👀
Plus Sarah Michelle Gellars character is the LEAD actress for me! The best character of them all! sorry not sorry! :)
I would also say Gothika is another perfect rainy day movie, rainy scenes throughout but also a very dark movie overall. One of my favourites :)
Definitely!!! I really love it too, but maybe I'm a bit biased cause I just love everything that's about asylums and that kind of stuff. Also, the acting is amazing!!

When a Stranger Calls (the 2000 remake) is my ultimate go to rainy day movie. I think because the first time I watched it was a rainy day so it’s nostalgic for me
I remembered being absolutely terrified watching that movie when I was a kid but I watched it probably 20 times lol
I always feel like watching Jurassic Park when it's rainy, if you consider that horror.

@@joeertman I just didn’t like it. The characters were forgettable, I didn’t think it matched the original in tone, the scenes that tried to scare the audience didn’t work for me and I thought it was just kinda dumb.
At least the gore was cool.

my fav rainy day movie is definitely The Crow, which isn't horror but just super dark and disturbing. I've only seen the american remakes of Shutter and Dark Water, so i'll definitely check out the originals as I'm sure they're much better! the plot twist in Shutter is absolutely crazy.
One of my exes maintained that not only is Clue the quintessential rainy day movie, but that it could not be watched except on a rainy day, sitting on the floor, wrapped in a blanket.

Identity is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's so good, even though I've seen it a million times, it still gets me. I definitely think this is a perfect rainy day horror movie. Yes, it's kinda more thriller/mystery but it's still horror.
Ghost Ship is such a good movie! And that opening scene still makes my jaw drop

The Woman In Black is definitely underrated. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it's an amazing gothic horror gem.The house is a character by itself!

I love final destination series, The conjuring series as well. Another good one is Stay Alive.

The Ring director was clever shooting the film in Seattle. Always rainy there and the real/Grey tones in the film really worked. Created that chilling mood
Sarah one horror movie that is always overlooked is the Changeling 1980 with George C Scott it takes place in Seattle so there's tons of rain in the movie. Highly recommended for any ghost/spirit horror fans out there
this is such a great list! The Ring is also one of my favourite horror films so anything similar to it is perfect for me! I will definitely check out some on this list, Shutter sounds particularly interesting especially cause I really like Thai horror too

Gothika and What lies beneath are my go to. I think ghost stories are perfect for rainy days! They can be scary even if they're not completely "horror"

IDENTITY is a GREAT candidate for this list. Rain storm isolates the characters. It's got John Cusack, Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet, John Mcginley. Horror movie with a cool concept. Maybe not super rewatchable however once you've seen the twist play out.

Dark Water US version is pretty good, I haven’t seen the Japanese version but it’s definitely that early 2000’s vibe and definitely agree with Shutter being waaay better that the US version.

I LOVED that you had the ring on there first. The American version you’re talking about was one of the movies that scared me the most. I was 10 when it came out and primarily because of how young I was at the time it truly scared me lol. A lot of nostalgia for that one!
