I can’t really speak for other fans, but I know the reason I come to this channel is for you and your take on movies. Horror is broad genre with so many sub genres and eras that there is room for many different voices in the conversation and yours is a voice (and opinion) I love to listen too.

I have no female friends who are into horror besides my sister, so it's good to get a perspective in that direction, from someone who's not annoying. That's why I'm here.

It's great you give yourself breaks away from horror. keeps the genre fresh when you can take breaks. It's also good you know your boundaries and it stinks when people gatekeep the horror genre. Your content in general is one of my favorites on YT. Keep up the great work

just so you know, I love that you have limits and boundaries. I feel like our boundaries (and our "this is too offensive to be entertaining" level) is really similar, so I like your videos because if you can handle something, I generally can too. Every reviewer being Super Hardcore would be deeply unhelpful to me

That's one of my favorite things about your channel, talking about loving horror, while at the same time having a threshold. I'm the same way and it might seem trivial, but it means a lot to me that you acknowledge that someone can still be a fan of horror, even if there are certain types of horror they will never watch!

the fact u stick to ur boundaries and opinions is something i love about u as a creator! i personally am fine with most gore but we do have some other boundaries that are the same/similar and that makes me feel very comfortable on ur channel actually. thanks for this list

Honestly you’re the best horror creator on CZcams in my opinion. So many other channels can be so gatekeepy and pushy with their opinions and I feel like you always create such a good space for discussion on horror without feeling like you need to fight people. Also it’s nice to have a channel that gives credit to how great the 2000s were for horror! Never change!

  • @sky-sb5jp

Just want to say I remember you saying you wouldn’t watch The Sadness because you were uncomfortable, I watched it in spite of my own judgement as a sensitive person and I can’t stress how much I wish I hadn’t watched it. I feel traumatised by it, by certain scenes and it’s made me scared to watch any more horror since. So good on you for sticking to your boundaries, never feel bad for that!

  • @TaracanRa

I like that you address your boundaries when talking about horror! One of the things that kept me from fully enjoying horror was the pressure to just watch the most gross or uncomfortable things that I knew I wasn’t going to like. I feel that hearing you address the same things while still calling yourself a horror fan makes this a safe space for a lot of people.

It’s okay! Sometimes I feel like I have to be working all the time. And I also feel like I have to watch a bunch of horrific films. But that is not the case. No one has to watch gruesome horror to be a “horror fan.” Watch whatever horror you like. For me (personally) I LOVe horror comedy’s. And oh 13 horror is THE BEST. Like the ring, scary stories, a quiet place, insidious, and more.

Also, needing/wanting to take a break from horror seems totally understandable!

Exorcism of Emily rose is one of THE best in horror and number 1 in possession genre. It’s real fear not just because of the girl the movie is based on but just the reality that many of us go through experiencing darkness.

A big reason I watch your videos as opposed to other horror channels is because you do set those boundaries for yourself and I feel like your channel is a safe space for me. Our preferences are very similar and I also can't watch certain movies because I don't want to be sick to my stomach when I'm trying to just have fun and enjoy myself/ the movie. I also appreciate how you don't vividly describe or show gruesome scenes like some people do. It allows me to learn about the movie without putting myself in a situation I didn't sign up for. Thank you so much for being unapologetically yourself!

I love that you are very open about having boundaries. I’ve considered myself a horror fan since the age of 7, and I’m 32 now lol and no matter how old I get, I know there are some things that just bring me to a place that isn’t pleasant. I love the anxiety that comes from tension, some of the more shocking side of things but there are things I just have to turn down given my own personal traumas and discomforts. At a certain point, it’s just not fun. Hard Candy, for instance isn’t really even considered “horror” but it took me four times starting to watch it before I was finally able to finish and really wish I would have just skipped it all together. I don’t need to do that to myself. Keep your boundaries in tact and never feel like you have to push those limits harder than you know you’re capable of. You make great content, and I know I speak for several when I say I don’t watch you for deep dives into the more extreme horror that rEaL hOrRoR fAnS watch.

I might have said this before but PG-13 is so overlooked. I enjoy all kinds of different horrors, but it doesn't always need to be bloodbaths or gruesome monsters. I'm glad so many agree that there are no wrong ways to enjoy horror, and that we shouldn't judge. Body/gross horror is my biggest NO but I ain't gonna judge those who dig it!

Thank you so much for your wonderful recommendations, my to-watch-list gets longer with every one of your videos! The way you describe the movies always makes me super curious and I haven´t been disappointed yet by anything I watched! I also think it´s great that you keep your boundaries. A great movie doesn´t need to go to extremes to be scary, in my opinion. I also share your point of view concerning "Martyrs" which you shared in one of your last videos. I´ve seen it many years ago and although I agree that it is a good and very impactful movie (it made me feel a lot of empathy and desperation, which was horrible in this context, I felt bad watching this for my entertainment), there is no way I would ever watch it again. I still think about it, and that´s plenty for me. It changed my watching-habits for the better, because afterwards I tried to consciously choose which kind of horror I want to consume for my entertainment.

I personally love makeup, horror movies, romance novels, comedy, creepypasta podcasts, adventure time, etc. Yet I'd only consider myself an expert in makeup. Everything else I just love and don't need to read or watch everything in that genre to be a fan.

I checked out Monstrous 2022 with Cristina Ricci yesterday. When you get a chance it could be a review you do. I always love her but I felt it was missing a little something. I enjoyed it overall but just a suggestion for you. I could be biased cause I love Ricci in every role she plays.

I want to stay on the radar over here for sure.

I've always believed that sex and violence doesn't make a movie scary, The Possession and The Exorcism of Emily Rose are movies that kept me up at night and I don't scare easily. Totally agree with you about Gretel and Hansel such an underrated movie. You should watch 1408 if you haven't, I feel like that would fit with this list well and it's a great movie.

i know its easy for us to talk about 'give yourself a break talk about whatever' but its hard as a content creator to do that cause your viewership numbers will drop and if this is your main income that is really tough. i hope you can find a way to balance your happiness and joy in the genre and your creative outlet. no matter what we'll still be here! (also how do you watch so much horror without feeling on edge? do you have any tips for cooling down/getting grounded again after a particularly harrowing movie?)

that’s so true! of course I’m so grateful I CAN take breaks when necessary but as you said it’s my main income so it’s hard to put it on hold. there is a sense of obligation but I still manage to balance it all. which is what I’d say helps with watching so much horror! for me there are some that are so comforting but of course if I watch a heavy one I love to get lost in a comfy franchise like HP or Hunger Games or watch a more light hearted movie favorite :)

Yayyy, glad Ouija Origin of Evil made the list. Definitely my favorite PG-13 horror, and I think it is ABSOLUTELY Mike Flanagan’s most underrated film, hands down! While it falls apart a bit in the third act, the first two acts are so masterfully crafted.

I love the PG-13 horror, I"m not one for much blood and guts. These horror films have more of the atmosphere, paranormal and jump scares that I'm looking for. Fantastic list.

Honestly? Whilst the horror umbrella is my favorite genre, I love you and this channel for your opinions & the way you voice them so nicely. I don't care what movie you talk about, as long as you're passionate about it (for better or worse) I'm here for it.

I actually prefer your style to other creators because you do have limits and know yourself, that is very positive for anyone watching

Everyone needs a break every now and then. Always respect your boundaries! Most of my fave Horror Films are Rated R but PG-13 films could be equally as scary. You don't always need the gore. I'm petrified of spiders so honestly Aracnaphobia has terrified me more then any other movie I've seen lol My favorite PG-13 movies I'd say are The Ring and 1408.
