When I first started watching your reviews I thought you guys were friends and I felt you guys were too shady to each other. Then I realized you're actually a couple and it all made sense to me! Your dynamic is so funny and refreshing to watch!! Love you guys.
Lol 🤣
What makes me laugh is their facial expressions they make towards each other...... They are enjoyable to watch..
I also thought they were friends. It makes more sense now that I know they are a couple. They do great reviews!
Saaaame!
yuck
Joseph: “Can I go through my notes?”
*Nick’s stank face*
😂
HILARIOUS 😂
I love when he says that lol. It's such a mood.
You know you're an old married couple when you have to ask your spouse what movies you watched. Love that you guys watch the more obscure movies :)
It amazes me how nick just pulls these movies and their directors from his memory. So awesome
Yes, he's very knowledgeable on movies. A lot of the movies he listed at the start I didn't know even existed.
Great stuff
“Look over there”, got that Jaida Essence Hall Reference right there!
As everyone should. Took me from a fan to, she'd better win this whole thing.
I'm not surprised that Cronenberg made a movie like this... His mother died of cancer when he was younger, and he had to take care of her until she died... So he literally watched her body turn into nothing... So I always figured he used Body Horror as a way to work through the shit he went through... which is Dope 💯🔥
It makes sense, darling. Is it his way of dealing with trauma? Uau. This shit is crazy 🤧
Top ramen hair🤣
Great video! 🌞
.
Scott Speedman was also the husband in The Strangers. I personally know him best as Ben on "Felicity". :)
I don't know how you two ended up as a suggestion but I happy it happened. You all are great.
"The blonde with the top ramen hair." 💀Hilarious!
The lady with the top Ramen hair! LOL
FIRST. THIS THUMBNAIL. SECOND. THIS THUMBNAIL. 😳...and I am old school horror head a'la "Basket Case" 🤣🤣🤣
I saw this film yesterday in a 30 seat theatre that was a little less than half full. I loved this film. There were so many themes that the film brought up. Saul occupying a female role of 'creator', being shrouded as traditional religious woman in a robe and head covering, giving birth....the film essentially asks if 'creating' (his even 'willing') these organs is anything akin to giving birth to a child...it leads into the larger classical questions of Aesthetics- what is art, what is it like, where can we find it, and where it is not?. Saul's partner acting upon him in the masculine role, penetrating his body, being the subject acting upon the object of the art which is him...or is it not also her, as she manipulates the controls attached to her abdomen like a conductor leading an orchestra? I am a trans woman, so maybe my experience fed a lot into what I took out of it, but the film more broadly brought up ideas and questions regarding social mores vs individual expression, bodily autonomy / body art vs. mutilation, and ultimately, is it ethical for governments to patrol our bodies and what we do with them...abortion rights / trans rights, anyone? Loved your review, I looked at about ten others and no one seems to get this movie, at least how I think they could. I loved you guys, I'm subscribed!
Cronenberg is on my top 5 favorite directors list. Truly unique. This actually made me happy. It feels like him. I love it. Thank you for the review! :)
Saw this last night in the theater and the crowd I watched it with was startled a lot by it. I think it might make a better SERIES instead of a movie though because there is so much we just gloss over or that is told to us and not shown. Anyway thanks for reviewing it!
Thank you for explaining certain scenes, I was a little lost.
This has had me VERY excited. David is a true master of his craft. Hope you like it. Just started the video.
This sounds super cool, I can’t wait to watch! The organ removal VS no organ removal reminds me of Sense8. Secret agencies tried to kill/control the clusters to stop human evolution.
I wanted so much more from this movie. Like, I wanted it to either lean into the "sexiness" of it, the body horror of it, or the sci-fi evolution of it. Instead I got like one fifth of each of those.
The blonde with the Top Ramen hair.
🤣😂
Haven't seen the movie yet but from watching some trailers the machinery really gives me H.R. Giger vibes. I love your reviews and I can't wait to see this movie as well as binge more of your reviews!
🙌I saw Crash in the theater, back when it first came out. 🙌
I feel like I got your point about the damage and scar tissue inconsistencies. It’s like the fact that the healing process seems inconsequential takes away from the potential to explore some of the unfortunate darkness born out of the potential for addictive tendencies within the human condition.
Like you just know if humanity actually evolved to this point it would not be an unusual occurrence to see people with missing limbs or no skin left or they’re like succumbing to sepsis and necrosis and their gangrenous flesh has rendered them immobile, but they seem almost blasé about it because they can’t experience the pain that would typically be a consequence of reaching such a state and are just casually cutting off their rancid decay in pursuit of that echo of feeling. And even if the wealthy can afford miraculous restorative medical treatment, there would still be a lower class destroying their bodies seeking pleasure without the means to fix themselves. It seems like a lot was left on the table.
I almost would have preferred ditching the new organs and evolutionary philosophy and just purely focus on that idea of a world without sensation-and how far people will go-literally destroying their bodies in pursuit of some semblance of pleasure. And like at what point have you mutilated yourself outside the bounds of what could be considered human?
Idk-just spitballing. Love your channel though. I don’t always agree, but your style still feels very conversational like you’re discussing a movie with old friends 💖
This movie sounds like it is Giving what needs to be Given *Law Roach voice*. Can’t wait to see it ⭐️
I’ve never seen Dead Ringers! Gonna watch it during turkey-day break. Thanks for the recommendation. 🙂
It's an absolute gem, based on a true story which makes it even better.
When people walk out of Cannes it's a high probability that I'll love it. Dead Ringers is my favorite Cronenberg film. He's completely fearless. And who could forget that whole Viggo full frontal fight in Eastern Promises. 😆 Catching this in the theater this week.
Oooh I can't wait for this one!!! Thanks for the review in matching shirts 💖😉
How come you guys didn't mention Scott Speedman's most famous role to date?! BEN FROM FELICITY 😆
"Felicity " was my show back in the day❤️
You two are adorable!❤️
Thank you for reviewing this movie. I'm a huge Cronenberg fan. I can't wait to watch this.
This is an interesting format for movie reviews, I usually see monologues that don’t give enough context to see which angle they watched the movie from. Cool video.
this is the first review i've watched from you guys and i loved it!
🙏🏽
This analysis helped me 🙏 decent watch needs a rewatch
I was just about to ask why u didn’t mention the 1970 film short of the same name but of course you did reference it at the end. Well done. ❤ 🎞️
Do a review of Greatland!!!!!
The way you review is very entertaining and seem to really know your object.
This is a great review! Best I've seen online! Wow I'm not the only one who gets this film!
Love u guys! How do u take your notes inside the theather tho? lol
Poorly lol
I would get a joint taken out of my toe in order to see this movie.
Videodrome would be cool to see y’all review
Thanks!
Thank you!
1:58 I shed SEVERAL tears when Scanners (the great granddaddy of exploding heads) and his greatest, Videodrome (with the QUEEN Debbie Harry/the only James Woods worth seeing) but I know that tip of the tongue feeling when you’re on the spot!
It’s over a year later and I am watching it now as I needed something to watch. Virgo Mortensen is so fine to me so I wanted to see what is was about. I thought it was okay. What I really appreciate is its 80s feel in terms of cinematography. If I didn’t know, my first guess would be that it’s an old movie.
Just watched this and I thought it was a masterpiece!!!!
You guys please someone gave them a colorful Fish Jelly logo!!! I wish I'm an artist but I want your logo to be more beautiful and suits your personalities!!!
I love red vines too! Everyone always finds me disgusting for liking those hah
I love Scott Speedman!! I've had a crush on him since Felicity!!!!!
The study bathroom, ooo la la
The blonde with the top ramen hair 😂😂😂
I’m on the fence about watching this . I’m happy you reviewed it. You said you weren’t familiar with Crononberg. Have you seen Scanners?
with the top ramen hair 💀💀💀
Cronenberg! This sounds great! I’m going to look it up.
I have never heard of this movie until now. It seems interesting to me based on your movie review. I will take a look at the movie preview first. This plot slightly reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Minority Report. Thank you for sharing your movie review. 12oct23
I really liked this movie. It’s definitely got some weirdness but it’s a Cronenberg. Only thing I’m hung up on is the end and Viggo liking plastic even though he was not part of that group…. Like the kid inherited it from his dad, so is is the implication that Viggo is ahead of the curve? If so I believe it😂
Okay, you guys helped me understand the movie better (I left the theater shaking my head and shrugging my shoulders) but not really gain an appreciation for it. I’ve seen and enjoyed previous Cronenberg movies, just not this one
Dead Ringers was great and so was The Fly. I absolutely hated Crash! Ugh! But History of Violence was brilliant.
Why did you hate Crash, just curious 🤔?
wuuuut
Honestly i didn’t like how it made me feel. It made me feel terrible and gross. People getting excited over accidents just really bothered me. I knew what it was about but didn’t expect such feelings to pop up. I love Cronenberg, always have. Maybe it’s because i worked in a morgue/mortuary where I saw some of the results of accidents including children and couldn’t understand that. I don’t know. It’s personal. My friend who recommended it, loved it to death.
Red vines! No sir! We are a twizzlers family here!! 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤😊😊😅
P. O. Box below.... My entire favorite line ever
I liked maps to the stars a lot.
Same! An underappreciated film.
I love cronenberg and I love art house but I hated this film.. I thought it was very underwhelming and incomplete.
Great review. I’m not going to watch it so this will suffice
Could have gone into nervous system and brain . That has lots to do with pain and chronic pain. That not being explored felt like they missed an opportunity. Still good movie .
Lols!
Gross....but I too love love love those red vines candy too joseph🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
For me I had trouble hearing the dialogue in the theater. It sounded so muddle
Also I adore Viggo Mortensen. But I barely made it through the fly and snowpiercer for example. Oy. Not sure on this one. Yes still sick guy's, waiting for this episode of my copd and bad bad cold to be over with already!!!
How could you not make it through The Fly?? It’s so easy to watch.
Love you both! Just listened to your podcast. The reason why the Depp trial is so important, is you have a person who claims to be a victim, exposed as the actual abuser live on tv.
I watched the whole trial as I’m working from home, and Amber Heard is freaking insane.
I don’t like people assuming that both parties were abusive, when the evidence did not show that. She is one evil piece of work!
❤️❤️
Oy vey. Meh...listening further to always always enjoyably and honest reviews from you guys, he'll no, I can wait till the new Jordan peele film comes out.
I thought the dialogue was painful particularly for the female characters so this was a hard watch for me.
Didn't care for it but thanks for reviewing.
This is really funny to me, because, I watched The Thing John Carpenter 1982) about three times over many years - never 'knowing' what's "body horror!" It was just frighteningly entertaining at the time !LOL! So, now I know the 'genre/label' - it depends. I prefer a straightforward premise that has all the reasons covered, as to the "whys' everything happened, with a conclusion that satisfied! Don't 'like' being 'held hostage' (so to speak :)) to *intentionally disturbing* grotesque plotlines for almost 2 hours! But, I love that you both established that a "secret agency" is behind this story. So, little details could help sway the mind to give it one watch, for Viggo Mortenson? I did like him as Aragorn! :D
This sounds really really gross and scary.
David croendbrugh been pooping in Star Trek
I'm a huge fan of classic Cronenberg, but this movie sucked ass. His last really good film was Spider, unfortunately.
My best friend insisted on taking me to see this. He was concerned that I’d be scarred by the scenes of body modification. I’m sorry but it was boring. An evening at a Fisting party was more traumatic than this movie.
A decent review , But I think this is a satire on the OTT makeup Instagram world. Everyone is gorgeous , all shot in amazing locations , all sterile Dubai / Singapore etc.
Look at the Greek locations , all crumbling , graffiti ridden decay in this film. You never see that in Sci-fi. The beauty in this film is the internal organs , scars , body modification. But really it's worthy of an hours worth of discussion
His other movies are pretty good I suppose but this one was just ughh not my fancy what so ever.
It just has no point except grossing you out with body horror and whaT about the tech girls wtf was that shit ? They were random as hell. Not to mention Saul and caprices story was confusing as hell. Ugh this movie was so frustrating.
This movie was pointless. I did not like this at all.
Sorry Nick I love you but this was not my cup of tea! :/
I agree with your points but this should have been a little more appealing to the mainstream at least for its own good because this film will totally flounder at the box office. Anyways, I just wish it could have given the average person something to work with. Ninja 🥷 Aragorn !!!
