Man, I thought this was ridiculous on so many levels, but the fact that he’s supposed to be a genius and he kills the last guy at a gorge people frequent, tries to sink him in shallow water and uses his own belt and his dog’s leash to tie rocks to the body was all too stupid for me. THEN, he agrees to a picnic with the family at the same gorge the very next day where he sees the body starting to float to the surface. So he goes back the next day to poke at it with a stick? Ok. And THEN, his neighbor/nemesis just so happens to be strolling around the same gorge and happens upon Ben poking the corpse with that stick. REALLY??? And that chase scene was pure comedic gold. That Subaru was swerving all over the road because he was terrified Ben would catch up to him on a bicycle, which is already silly enough, but then he feels compelled to text his wife to tell her he was right to suspect Ben all along. I mean, come on. Also, why introduce the PI and not have that facet of the story go anywhere? With ALL that said, I’m glad y’all had a better time with it than I did, and I absolutely love your reviews.
The neighbor didn’t so happen to be at the same location-the wife sent him there after she found her lover’s wallet with her husband’s snails. She likely told the neighbor her husband was supposed to be there looking for her scarf but she suspected he was up to something else, which is why the neighbor had the scarf in his hand (otherwise how would he know it was her scarf). I do agree that car “chase” scene was so ridiculous but it was totally the neighbor’s fault. It showed he didn’t really care about the wife, he was more excited to to tell his own wife he was right and this mess was the material he needed for the novel he was working on.
When the movie began, I was like, what in the Will and Jada is going on here!? Anywho, I loved Unfaithful. The ending messed with my head. I wondered how she felt going to bed with this man each night knowing that he is a murderer. I wondered how he felt going to bed with her each night knowing that she is unfaithful. Deep Water kind of felt like a sequel to Unfaithful to me. Like, Diane Lane's character continued to cheat and Richard Gere's character continued to kill her lovers. Because of their Twisted love for each other, she'll cover for his crimes and he will never leave her.
It’s the entanglement for me 🤣
THAT’s what that movie was about? Jesus Christ!
@@INXS1985 🤣🤣🤣
Same 🤣
the movie was sooooo bad, no character depth, you dont understand why this couple is still together, no love, no attraction, she is so mean and disrespectful to everybody , and vaid (what does she do with her life, except for dating guys?) Ben afflect´s character, breed snails and there is barely no relation of the snail with the story as a metaphor, so why use snails... I could keep on, but this movie is so flat...
A friend of mine and I watched this movie and were really engaged with it as well. We talked about why Ben’s character didn’t just leave the wife and I said I understood it to be because, besides being insanely in love with his wife, it would be a messy divorce and you see how attached he is to his daughter. I have not read the book but I wonder if that’s explained. I also wonder if the book says she’s a sex addict. Because my goodness she kept those men coming like a revolving door! Lastly, I would have liked to see how the couple got to the point to make that sort of agreement and she be the only one to run with it.
Well, the ending just about confirms the 'Gone girl' vibes I was getting after the trailer dropped. Affleck's character and the femme fatale he's married to, strike an alliance to conceal each other's sins. Thanks for the review, now I know that the movie is a waste of time. You guys are awesome btw :)
i love Nick’s view of Melinda taking a bite out of the apple & feeding it to Vic bc i felt she was way worse than him because of the fact that she was extremely selfish & she constantly put those men in harms way knowing what her husband is capable of.
It was extremely frustrating as a movie to watch. If it was designed to be this way, then they succeeded. Both characters are despicable. The man probably has a voyeurism or an humiliation kink. The woman is a femme fatale. She thrives by being desired, she loves to make him jealous. Why they are still together ? A mystery. They are so toxic that even their daughter realized it.
I have a feeling this movie is going to be a mess...the trailer was hot though....let's find out!
Yall changed my mind about this. I will give it a watch for sure.
ok - this is why open marriages don't work. LOL! One person is always into it and the other goes along because they love their partner - until they end up having to kill someone. So MESSY! LOL Fantastic review! Thank you -
Exactly
Right!
I really enjoyed this review. You guys are so funny and explain movies in a real natural and simple way while also being compelling and fun. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Oh absolutely didn’t know it was a remake of a French film (with super famous actors here in France)…
I always enjoy your reviews!
Yay, been waiting for your review of this! Thank you!
Looking forward to this review, love his previous films!
Art imitates life here, this movie like an open relationship seems both intriguing and exhausting lol. I think I'll love it. Nick I love your eye rolls, they speak volumes.
Off topic but I love all your framed Janet albums in the background!! Really cool!! I’m a big fan of her too! Thanks for your review!
Great video! 🌞
Yall brighten my days!
Enjoyed the review, I really liked this movie because I didn’t know anything about it before. Also, I enjoy your background set up!
I've been looking forward to this one, but then I saw the trailer which made me kind of change my mind.
I'm glad it's worth a watch, it's on my weekend list!
Great review guys. Watched it last night
Wow, I’m really surprised. I just assumed this would be a dog of a movie (even though Lyne directed it). But it sounds interesting and I’ll definitely watch it. Thanks for the review.
I take it this movie was shot in New Orleans. I think what I like about the movie was the locations, the lavish party scenes, and the messed up relationship between the couple. I sort of get it though. They got all charged up by getting each other jealous. Ben Affleck is also great in this. I think he’s best in movies about messed relationships, “Gone Girl” comes to mind.
Nick, you coined a new word, "miserablism". I can't wait to use it! I love Adrian Lyne also, and am looking forward to seeing this movie. Great review!
Hubba Hubba...Hello Ms. Jackson!
Reminder set.
Can’t wait to watch this on hulu tomorrow! And you reminded me of Another Happy Day wow what a great cast and great film but damn if it wasn’t depressing as hell talk about unlikeable characters! Also i think thats when i really fell in love with Ezra Miller he is pretty amazing in everything he’s in ❤️. And finally love the background i haven’t seen it before i didn’t even really have to look too hard before i was thinking ooooo miss jackson if ya nasty! 🙌
I literally just finished and needed clarity lol
Can't wait to see this!! Loved The Talented Mr.Ripley and Carol. LOL at the mayo. Was about to say that as a young un..my best friend's Nanny used to make us Mayo sandwiches as a snack. Thought that was only a West Indian thing 🤣
Oh, I've absolutely had mayo sandwiches (but it was more a being poor thing for me!😂)!
Nick's skin looks amazing! So handsome
Ana de Armas is just gorgeous💖💖💖 Thanks guys for the review!
I thought about Unfaithful, it's makes sense now.
This channel is great. Thank you.
Explained perfectly
I rely on you all to help me with some of these movies now days❤
I love that word: miserabalism. See, you do learn something new every day💖💖💖😸😸😸
The story is what sold me.
You guys were too kind with this review 🤐 the movie was awful! Worst Patricia highsmith adaptation EVER
Great great review, now I will read the book
Much better background....Janet is outstanding!!! Lovely pics
Its worth a watch great acting done by ben and the thriller it built is amazing if you are phycho thriller fan must watch
melinda had the audacity to just keep doing this shit to him had me dumb founded
Based on the other reviews I thought this was going to be bad. I’m glad I watched it.
It’s their house with the pool ‘Ben and Melinda’
The only character that didn’t get on my nerves was the dog.
Lmaooo
That little dog was so freaking cute 🥰
Lol oh dear the little girl was sweet too.
Is this a sequel to "Shallow Water"?
Perhaps Ben’s character had a voyeurism fetish’s which is why he was still attracted to his wife.
Really good review also nice work.
I was thinking the same thing. Specially when they were both watching her piano teacher play.
Joseph's mood especially when he says, "Bye" is exactly how Ben's acting was in the movie. He just seemed like someone who enjoyed killing as a hobby.
I think this is actually one of the themes of the story lol
I found it really interesting when she seemed very upset at the idea of her husband possibly finding another woman more attractive then her. So it’s almost like she expected that she is the only one allowed to step outside the marriage. Also she def knew that he kills hee lovers yet wants to continue to bring her lovers around him, knowing that it puts them in danger. I think she’s more twisted then he is lol
The French pronunciation is so Inspector Clouseau. Pure Dandy.🧑✈️❤
Technically, he’d have to commit one more murder in order to be deemed a serial killer. Is a sequel planned? 😂
Vic kills Melinda at the end of the book but in the movie he doesn't.
Oooh how did he do it and did he ever get caught?
Oh WOW! Really?😮
I like Ben Affleck too!
Kinda ironic that Ben Affleck is one of the major characters in this movie. Definitely brought back memories of "Gone Girl". Ben Affleck's character can be described as the male version of Amy Dunne. I liked the movie. I loved the chemistry between Ben Affleck and that little girl who portrayed his daughter. Reminds me a lot of me and my own daughter. That being said and as much as I enjoyed watching this movie, I still like "Gone Girl" better. Perhaps because Rosamund Pike portrayed Amy Dunne much darker than Ben Affleck did in this movie.
I’m going to watch this. I’ve never heard of it.
Brendan Miller was the Highlight of the movie
Why did they sleep in separate rooms?
There ought to be a prequel to this enthralling and interesting movie , it simply makes no sense any sane women would wanna do such an absurd act on a person as mild mannered as Vic
Love you guys😸😸😸😸😸
This is a very, very bad erotic thriller. In the 80s, 90s and 2000s, erotic thrillers were much better, they were very erotic, sexy and beautiful. Here - bad acting, directing, plot and script. Sam Levinson is a bad screenwriter. And there is no high-quality eroticism here. And yet, I am against sex coordinators, this is sex police and censorship.
I love the director I will check this out
This movie made me so mad I wanted to fight lol
Is this movie really about Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith's marriage? Well, I think Jada Pinkett has done worse than that woman in this movie.
Sounds like Benifer was never okay with an open marriage and needs to get a grip 🙄
Nah they only reason he didnt have a problem with it before is because he didn't want his wife to feel controlled
Watch again see if you can diagnose Ben she if his wife is going crazy
Ben Affleck again???
Luv the movie .
Meh...a pass. Gone girl vibes...
This was such a letdown and a struggle to finish. Nothing erotic and no thrills. Why is it an EROTIC THRILLER again? If there was better nudity, it could have saved the film.
The movie was pointless and annoying
Director got lazy halfway through. Ruined it.
This video should not be 18 minutes. There are others that are a third of the length? Also if we’re watching the REVIEW we have already seen the movie. But you guys just recap the plot of the movie oh so slowly. No like or dislike from me.
🤷🏾♂️
As a straight dude I can tell u Ben Affleck was infatuated with Ana de armas...because it's Ana de armas..good lord.
