Apologies for being off topic - NOW I KNOW WHY I LURVE when Nick pronounces the movie titles!! He reminds me of the way Catherine O'Hara enunciates her words on Schitt's Creek!! Love it 🤣🤣 That being said: Always enjoyed the book/story of Firestarter over Carrie and disliked both movies. Only watching this version for two main reasons. 1) Gloria Rueben used to party with us in the late 80's on our Island of Montserrat (beyond sweet/cool) and it was just before she gained recognition as an actor. 2) Lord help me with Michael Greyeyes as Rainbird!! Was always pissed that he was never in Dances with Wolves but he made up for that as Sitting Bull in Woman Walks Ahead and Blood Quantum. Beyond adore him. Zac can run off in a bush somewhere. Still looking like he's about to break into song/dance from High School Musical. Then he wonders why he's not taken seriously? Anyhoo....great review as always. ❤❤

I read the book in 1983 when I turned 12, then saw the original movie the following year when it hit cinemas. The original movie is much better at eliciting sympathy because the relationship between dad and Charlie was more believable. The old couple were more empathetic and even the bad guy - Rainbird - had a completely different motivation for trying to catch Charlie. He wasn't part of the experiments Charlie's father and mother undertook - he was fascinated by looking in people's eyes as he killed them to see if he could determine when their soul had left their body. There was more time spent with Charlie as Rainbird pretended to be her cleaner when she was being held at the Shop (the secret government dept) - this was so well done in the original movie. Now of the characters/relationships were explored enough to make you care any deeper than a superhero cartoon. Thanks for a good review! Just found your channel - will subscribe and look for more reviews from you.

Ryan Armstrong was just too adorable. Even when she goes psycho mode in the end I just couldn't get over how adorable she is. Kids are just not scary, especially not a girl that cute. It's almost like having a movie about a squirrel with evil powers, how are you suppose to be scared of that? I did enjoy it more than most probably but I can see why people didn't like it. But I'm not sure people really expected much, you could tell by the trailers it wasn't going to be that scary and probably a bit cheesy.

What I like about this channel (and Double Toasted) is the little racial gags that you don’t get on other film CZcams.
“Keith David” not be confused with “David Keith” is funny and it’s refreshing when race discussed on film CZcams isn’t just a white presenter wanting more “diversity” or the counter argument of everything being too “woke”.

not “old riverfoot” 😂😂.. Funny thing is your review made me revisit watching the 1984 version. I actually remembered liking it as a kid, I thought the effects were fascinating back then. Now i’m older and the movie is lukewarm at best, but it’s nostalgia. I for sure am not interested in watching the remake, but your review was worth it for the hilarious spoiler info ( which I guess isn’t really a spoiler if it’s basically a carbon copy huh)🤔 .

The parents were totally useless, the mom when she's getting attacked by Rainman she tries to hit him with something from behind, misses him completely. Then she knocks picture frames off the walls, all of them miss him and I'm like umm really? So you can't shoot knives at him or something that can do damage? Uhh the dad gets home and notices frames on the floor and he just looks dumbfounded not disturbed at all by that. Oh and let's not forget she sets her mom on fire and she gets icecream and a movie for it lmfao. Then she tells the dad it was suppose to be him and I'm like ok so I know where you get your aim from. The fact that she had no net, tv or anything and wasn't suppose to be depressed was laughable, I'm here like umm she has nothing else to do but think about how different she is cause she's bored to death. I also didn't get the bullying, she was dressed like the other kids, she wasn't slow, she was social enough so the bullying made no sense and then she didn't even get a chance to set his hair on fire or nothing, I would have prefered that over her blowing up the bathroom lmao. When the mom is killed there's ZERO emotions from her husband, he's just like let's go, leaves her body to burn and everything lmao. Then he pushes the old ass man to drive him mad far, giving him a dollar making him think he has a hundred dollars and I'm like umm bruh you have at least $75, I remember and yet you give him a dollar? Lmao. I also said the same thing Joseph said, I wouldn't ever be broke, I'd push someone to give me mad money, a house, car... all of that. New identities, everything, like c'mon. The acting was so dry, the dads push thing was sooooooooooo corny, especially the neck crack without anything really happening. His corny self talking about... cracks neck, give me your gun and they were like umm how about no lmfao. Then to have her leave with her mother's killer just didn't sit right with me at all. The best part was when the scientist or whatever she was, told the girl.... if you burn me you burn your dad too and she was there like... oh ok and burned both their asses lmfao. I had the exact opposite feeling than Joseph before I watched it. I was like blah how good could it be if Zac is in it? Lmfao and sure enough it was so blah.

I think I watched half hour or so, of 1984's original FS - and I never saw it again! I switched to Cujo (1983, with Dee Wallace) and finished that! Now, I feel may be it was the mother played by Heather Locklear *or* David Keith? Kind of Disney-ish and not enough Stephen King dread !LOL!

Whenever you guys review a bad movie, you can guarantee that the review is going to be far more entertaining than the movie was. I read the book in the early 90s and saw the movie on cable in the 80s. I bought the movie on DVD a year ago, and remember thinking, after a rewatch, how badly it had aged. I saw the remake last night, and I was really hoping that someone was going to make a decent movie adaptation, and I was seriously wrong. At least they finally cast a Native American actor (Michael Greyeyes, very good In Blood Quantum) to play Rainbird this time. My general feeling about the movie is that the story seemed so rushed and most of the story wasn't explained very well. Finally, thank you Nick for making my day by saying Morgan Fairchild played the mom in the O.G. movie, and thank you Joseph for making me LOL by calling Rainbird, "Old River Foot". I had tears in my eyes, and they were not bloody ones .
