Uhhh yeah … I mean, that’s kind of the point of the film? That’s exactly the beats the move is hitting. It’s just too bad that the movie was so damn heavy handed with its intentions and messages. This could’ve been a smart, subversive comedy a-la The Big Short and it just wasn’t.

So you can tell these reviewers don’t watch dark comedies . To me, Don’t Look Up is a classic dark comedy. The tone is dark, tragic; yet it’s not serious enough, it purposely doesn’t take itself seriously, which is accomplished by taking everything to the extreme. It’s not serious political satire in the details. It kind of remind me of the Death Of Stalin. The overall theme is satirical though. I actually enjoyed it. It was mostly hilarious 😂

The atmosphere and cinematography of that scene was so well done and somber and it’s like the scientist all gave up and spent their last minutes not dying alone, but being together and chatting about food and coffee because they will never have these things again and the last words Leo DiCaprio says it’s so true “We really did have it all”. But, it really is brilliant. In terms of what it is saying.
Sure, some moments are over the top and almost cringy just like Jonah hill is playing an unfiltered parody of trump's son... one of them... lol.... and could have played it more truthfully. Sure.
And there may be other moments here or there, but overall in terms of theme and message .... really well done.....
The acting takes a moment, but once you get the style & genre of the movie... it'll make sense. And it was consistent, with what actors were doing....meaning they didn't start one way, then all of sudden do something else....

Then he became this boogey man. Crazy how one man carried so much power that he drove half a country to lose all ability to grasp reality and no longer believe what they saw. Instead believing what they were told. So bizarre. A movie should be made about that and I’d watch it lol. This one w/ Leo is gonna be at minimum entertaining. JLaw is good too. Media and Dems, have done a great job crafting a cultural narrative that says conservative values equate to racism. Therefore if ya support a conservative or oppose Dems, their logic says you’re inherently racist. That strategy worked. It allows racist Dems to hide in plain sight and while their racism will go overlooked. And forces ppl who’re simply conservative valued to defend themselves against being called racist. Drumf is obnoxious, narcissistic, and brash, but he didn’t suddenly become a racist when he ran for office, he became a racist when he ran for office as a Republican lol

Guys, normally I love your reviews, but not this one. Two and a half stars? C'mon! "Don't Look Up" is a modern day Dr. Strangelove, a darkly comedic satirical send-up of modern day America that feels scarily real. The dialogue is wickedly funny. Films this smart and significant are few and far between, and deserve more praise, IMHO. Maybe you need to give it another watch. BTW, I thought Jennifer Lawrence's punk scientist was very cool, she was the true heroine of the story.

This movie touches on so many issues - climate change, fake news, greed, covid, terrible leadership, nepotism, selfishness, sending nudes, vapid pop culture, and so on. People are repeatedly calling those who didn't like it, stupid. And it's just not true. We got it, we just didn't like the delivery. It wasn't as funny as it intended to be, or smart. It was incredibly centrist from a political standpoint and didn't deliver an accurate political commentary (even if, yes, the Trump administration was indeed that ridiculous and insane). The problem I have is that The Big Short was funny, smart, well acted, paced, written, directed, AND it hit hard emotionally. I consider it to be one the smartest "political" (because yes, banks are politics too) films of the last two decades. Knowing what McKay can do, and then watching this... yikes. It just wasn't entertaining or smart enough for me to enjoy it. And Adam is smart, so? What happened. Don't Look Up felt like an old white guy with a very baseline idea of his own country's politics decided to make a disaster film.
I just don't get how the guy who made The Big Short and spearheaded Succession can put this on Netflix and act proud of it.

honestly joeph shouldn't be in this. his only contribution was how dumb/good the characters looked. he doesn't seem to care about movies that much let alone actually reviewing them. Personally I thought that although there were some seriously embarrassing moments in the movie where the writers seriously misinterpreted internet culture, it was a very very poignant critique of sensationalisation of everything by the media, and the dumbing down of our society in favour of convenience and consumerism.
either way I feel like I just wasted time watching this review because you've barely analysed anything about it, besides hair styles (which is great I guess. that's what the movie is about right? hair?). makes me feel like I've watched a top 10 tiktok video where the video isn't even original? it's just someone stealing other people's content and putting their face on it as a "reaction", ultimately contributing nothing
