it’s really funny you noticed the “one finger typing”. tilda swinton actually said behind-the-scenes that she was a bad typer and gets self-conscious when she has roles involving typing 😂
I find this to be your most interesting review. Love it!! The actress playing the Queen of Sheba was a winner of Africa's Next Top Model. 🙂
Seeing how much Joseph loved this film was so lovely
Watched this movie today and loved it. Thank you for explaining that she actually set him free in the end as I thought she didn’t because it had to be “a true wish from the heart” I’m glad she wasn’t another selfish women in the Jinn’s story. Thank you for this great review!
I too absolutely adore this movie. I’ve seen it six+ times. I love both of these actors. I love to look at Tilda, she looks like an angel masquerading as a human, and I can relate to her lifestyle, because I’ve also traded in dull/sober love for peace and solitude a couple of times. This is such a beautiful bitter sweet story.
Wow, the trailer did not make me want to see this. But Joseph, you had me almost crying describing the movie, and how much it touched you. I really want to see it now! Plus, Idris Elba!!!!
Okay, now I'm watching it!! These guys are the best reviewers OMG! LOL
Right, I paused halfway to go watch the movie, very beautiful
Me too. These reviewers are the best!
I liked it but they somehow managed to make idris elba unhot.
You guys are awesome! Glad I found your channel!
19:54 “Girl your first wish was to type 120 words per minute.” 🤣🤣🤣
This movie was maybe the best performance I’ve seen from Idris Elba. I’ve seen many, many of his performances over the year and this one he was just fabulous. Great, great movie. Not for everyone
It was.
You too are my new favorite “get me started for the day”. You have great chemistry and your reviews are refreshing… …she should’ve asked for 120 wpm…cracking up🤣
Aamito Lagum is the name of the woman playing Queen of Sheba. She is the very first winner of Africa's Next Top Model. I had to look her up.
My husband took me to see this movie tonight. It was a beautiful visual of what it looks like to love and choose love in return ❤️
Tilda is a classic chameleon artist. I absolutely adore her...Idris obviously too. From the trailer I had no idea it was a love story. What a refreshing premise. I'm sure their chemistry is wild. I've been waiting for this. The visuals are stunning. Really excited now thank you. ☮️
I concur, Tilda is one of the greatest.
What?!?! George Miller directed The Witches of Eastwick? I never realized that. Very cool. I grew up watching it and loving it. Have a great day guys. Peace 🤗
Get yourselves to a Persian Market and get some of those chickpea-pistachio tea cookies. They really do melt in your mouth.
I was expecting a travesty from this film but the way you describe it makes me eager to see it and get emotional in the theater. I am also a loner so I would relate to Tilda Swinton's character.
:) Joseph, about her 'typing skills!' : "She's a Literary Scholar, she's like a writer, and she was hunting and pecking," That was great eye for detail! The woman is imaginative, and open-minded as she seems to 'absorb' oddities - like a Djinn! - and be immersed in its history. In the end, "it doesn't matter whether or not he was real.:)
I missed my own premiere 🤦🏽♂️
No worries I was here for you holding it down LOL.
I came to this review after seeing the movie recently on a flight. I totally agree with your review. It was a great movie that didn’t get the attention it deserved. The ads didn’t compel me to see it.
I loved this movie so much! I feel like movies like this that expound on simple storytelling get ignored and badly reviewed while movies with more complicated themes that nobody can understand get praised. It was beautiful and I plan on going to see it again.
Sounds like a very original retelling of the Genie legends. George Miller has made some great films, I loved Witches of Eastwick. Thanks!
I for sure will be seeing this film… Miller… Idris… Tilda … nothing more need be said. I love your glowing review.
I watched this movie twice & I love the storytelling & characters - I really loved how they choose Idris & Swinton & how age appropriate they are ! The Queen of Sheba is beautiful but she did my djinn super dirty 😢
I think her imaginary friend was named Ezra. She named her son that died, Ezra, too 🥺
Great review! Thank you so much guys!! Happy to see Australian directors representing once again.... 😜 Looking forward to this one 👍🇦🇺👍
Den of Iniquity 😂 You guys are awesome
I saw this movie when it first came out. I was captivated by the whole movie theater experience. This is the second time I have watched your review. It is a different kind of love story. I left the movie wanting more. Awesome review.
I just got back from seeing this and absolutely loved it. The reviews I’d seen had been pretty lukewarm, so I was surprised by how much I ended up enjoying it.
I FINALLY watched this last night ..LOVED IT. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! ❤️❤️👍💯
The scene with the elder ladies was necessary because it proved he was real. The test was could the other ladies take the snack. But he came along to give her the real confirmation that the other women could see him and this was different from her childhood imaginary friend.
I've been excited for this movie and I skipped to the end to see what you rated it. Your high rating has me even more excited! I'll watch your full video after I watch the movie :)
You really had notes about his chickpea, cloves & pistachio recipe 🤣
This is your best episode! Love your pov and dynamic
I love listening to your movie reviews, really appreciate the time you take to do them!
Excited to watch now...thank you gentlemen!
You two have me so excited to see this!!!! I don't think I have ever seen you more excited. :)
I love your review of this movie because I'm seeing so many bad reviews and I was considering passing on this movie but now after your review I'm going to go see this movie thanks🤗
This movie was wonderful
Thank you for another wonderful review. Even though I love all the people involved in this project, it wasn’t on my “watch list”. Now I will definitely give it a go. Thank you!
Nick is laughing I can already tell this one is going to be a hoot!
another flawless review! Please review the invitation!!
What a great review! Can’t wait to catch this one…. I hope it is as animated as you’ll were describing it! Much love from India !
13:57 every and anybody walking on this earth.... only ...Real ...true desire... "IS TO BE LOVED".... 2 BE LOVED ....ooo what a feeling ... To be loved .. in my Eddie Murphy voice....
Walked out on this movie in the theatre after 10 mins really glad I gave it another chance it was a really good movie loved his retelling of his story ❤
Yay! I love any kind of mythology and was super curious when I saw a trailer months ago. This one is for the theaters!
Giiirl...i wish Idris Elba's bottle would call out to me
Love films of this genre but your review mad me really want to watch it. I was moved and enjoyed it immensely thank you guys for your reviews. ❤
love watching you guys again ! After seeing this movie Again! lol
I swear you both have great presence, nice looking men, you really need a tv program in mainstream tv , ya’ll are awesome sauce, I freaking love watching your reviews… seriously!!!!!!🎉
she doesn't actually fall in love with her in the hotel room. she wishes for him to love her like she loved those other women. but she doesn't love him right then and there. her love is superficial and more selfish and not what we would actually consider love and thats the point. Its the part in the story and in all of our stories that we've all experienced where we THINK we're in love. where FORCE another to love us or LIE to ourselves and ignore everything just we can "BE IN LOVE". but what happens is that through him loving her in England her real love is being cultivated and she doesn't achieve it till she releases him.
That's what this film was showing was the adventure of life and love and lonliness and when we actually experience real love
Great review. And want to see for sure. I thought with the back drop. Never ending story feel. More of a love story and imagination feel. Sign me up!
Hosting a pool/pajama/Margarita night with my ride or die crew of ladies on Friday and can't wait for us all to view this movie - stoned to the hilt and as we say - FEELIN' no pain!! While many will be slobbering over Idris...have always melted at the feet of The Great Tilda Swinton. Will raise a glass to you fine gentlemen. Bless 🍹💖
Was the Mark Rylance film you were trying to remember The Outfit? I dont think y'all reviewed it but I recommend giving it a watch if you haven't seen it yet!
Good review ❤
In Istanbul there are no smartphones and it's not modern times there yet, according to this film.
You were referencing The Outfit at the end. With zoey duetch and Mark Rylance. Thought it was a cool movie cause it’s all in one location. Not sure if you’d like it or not but would love a review on it. Love the content
I was not expecting this at all. I want to see this film
can you post these videos as audio only on audea? would really appreciate just the audio! love your stuff btw, keep pushing out content
Thanks!
The cheakpea sweets are pretty good if made properly! Theyre buttery and crumbly but dry so you mostly have them with tea.
Finally got to see this movie so glad I did it’s what movie making is missing now days true storytelling thanks for your review❤️❤️
I am so stoked you guys chose this movie, super dyoked it is actually good. It looks like it wanted to be a beautiful epic.
Your review made me want to see the movie and i must say i really enjoyed it. Great movie! I loved it! Thanks for your review!
Now I want to watch the movie after this great review ❤
I will add that, as great as Tilda and Idris are, I didn’t feel much chemistry between them. It felt more like a philosophical debate between them-I didn’t buy they loved each other (especially the Djinn for Alithea).
They didn’t, she wanted love from him and she wished for it and so he did, but they weren’t in love the were companions though
Greta review! I just saw another one that wasn't so positive so I'm guessing it's giving mixed hit-or-miss vibes. Interested in seeing it tho.
I wonder, was the chickpean, cloves, and pistachio dish symbolic for something?
Definitely worth a rewatch for more details. I'm pretty sure the box of stuff in Tilda Swinton's house that belonged to her ex was labeled with the name of her imaginary friend and some of the items in her home were direct analogs to parts of her story.
Excellent review. I love this movie!
Have you guys ever seen Cloud Atlas, from 2012?
Watching the trailer for Three Thousand Years gave me a heck of a lot of Cloud Atlas vibes. Two incredibly different movies, but something in the visuals, the way in which the story is presented, the color scheme, just... I dunno... It feels like, if you like Three Thousand Years, then you may also be a Cloud Atlas fan (as I most certainly am).
I’m about to watch this movie now!!!! I love “cautionary tale “ movies 🍿💕💙😏
I give this movie a 5 out of 5. I haven't loved an original film like this...well, since I honestly can't remember which means 20 or 30 years. Maybe not since Close Encounters, and that was a lo-o-o-ong time ago! I'm 70, so yes...I also appreciated that it's a film for adults.
Hell yeah hope the music,s dope too
I'm gonna see this!! I love Idris 😍
Wow, an actual positive review of the movie
I saw this today finally. I absolutely loved this♥️what a beautiful film. Tilda + Idris
Like so many movies, this film has glimmers of brilliance-it’s well-acted and well shot-but it fails to present Alithea and the Djinn as dynamic characters with real motivations. As stated in the video, Alithea says she lacks nothing and desires nothing, which kills my interest for her character (nor do I find her particularly likable or interesting). Idris’ character, likewise, provides interesting facts about “Djinn-hood,” yet has no clear motivation beyond performing his duties and avoiding further imprisonment.
I didn't feel the chemistry between them either. I think someone else playing the part of Althea would have been better. The dialogue was cringey at points too. Maybe it was the jumping around to different stories, but it felt rushed and removed.
I can't wait to see this. I named my car after my man, Idris. 💅🏾😂
"it's like a little small person, with a crazy ass head" Nice 8)
When I saw the trailer I thought yuck but now that I know what the movie is about I think I'd like to see this.
Not a fan of this one, but still interesting to hear your review! Thanks guys :)
Just watched this on a plane and enjoyed it a lot ...
Was expecting whimsy overload / CGI mush but was quite good
I agree. 4 out of 5. I loved this movie!
I'm really intrigued by how close people are coming to seeing the true theme of the movie. I think you'll find a new appreciation of this film if you rewatch it with the knowledge that the Djinn is not a sentient being, but a drug.
Corpulent women! I’m dead 😂
Possibly the most underrated film of the year - but i think the marketing campaign was terrible as the trailer for this film did it no favours
The story of Solomon and Sheba is the Kebra Nigust. Ethiopian history.
Omg you are right this movie is excellent and probably won't get the attention it deserves....
They didnt talk about Mattao as prince+ his song. I would like to have seen more than shown of the movie. Informative. But not total recall of this show.
Guys, please review Squeal aka Samuel's travels. If Peter Greenaway and Yorgos Lanthinos had a baby, it would be this film. And the main actor is naked for most part of the movie!
WoW Presents needs to give you your own show already...lol...between the podcast and this channel I tell everyone lol. If you ever make your way to Phoenix I would love to show you our little rainbow community that is amazing.
Its odd that although she had access to all magic and science in the universe she choose to ask for love, imagine how many she could have helped. Also why was she able to see mystical creatures that was never explained.
Is it better to watch the movie on acid?
The world is better with George Miller in it, love all of his films, this one made me cry❤❤❤😍😍😍
in Arab and Muslim mythology a jinn is a type of demon or evil spirit that lives in a bottle and one released from the bottle can grant you three wishes or in some cases it might just kill you.
Thanks for the review. I also liked this movie. My favorite part was her extending an olive branch to her bigot neighbors.
Nobody is bothered she cleaned the bottle with her tooth brush🤢
Just watched it. It was good, but did not give off the umph of a well told story. The djins in their realm would give it a 6 and I would know, as I have some hairy legs;)
I loved this film. So creative and full of imagination. It's what story telling in movies is all about! I wish it had been marketed better because it's not getting the attention it genuinely needs. Great review guys! Check out my take as well!
Imma keep bothering y'all but if it's playing around you, go see 'Laal Singh Chaddha'!!!
It's absolutely worth it!
Just listening to this movie review, this sounds very similar to the movie City of Angels. I had seen that movie once or twice in movie theater when I was age 14 which I enjoyed a lot. I have not seen movie A Thousand Years of Longing, I am not interested. 26oct23
Sounds like The X-Files did a better treatment of the Genie theme. Maybe you guys can compare this movie to the X-Files episode
Guy wishes for invisibility gets hit on freeway. Other brother wishes brother hit by truck could speak... lots of screaming follows
