This is the one episode where the plot makes absolutely no sense at all. There is dangerous and murderous psychopath on the loose, and one of the primary potential victims of that psychopath’s is not immediately notified of her identity? How could they allow Sang-te to ever be alone without knowing exactly who she is?

The explanation i found most reasonable was the fact that since the father was already diagnosed with the tumor that can cause memory loss back then he possibly imagined himself throwing her body in the river and she escaped when he put her body in the basement.

Here I will say something that is probably an unpopular opinion: I think that any work of art, but not only, should be published, regardless of who the author is, even if he were the most evil person in this world. Obviously the reference here is to the manuscript of Do Hui-jae's last book ever published which, as we see, will not be published by Sang-in (at least presumably, given that, from Seung-jae's words it would seem that he will return the manuscript to him later having hidden it to spite him for how he treats her). This is because I believe that artistic production and not only is an enrichment for everyone and it is therefore right that it is published. This, of course, would not, in any way, absolve the criminal person (Do Hui-jae in this case), nor would it be a reward for him; obviously, I realize that the opinion I have expressed is controversial, because in any case the works of criminals can be a source for the spread of dangerous ideas in the most extreme cases; but in any case, on a general level, except in particular cases, I remain with my opinion: art belongs to everyone. Having said that, the ending of this drama is perhaps one of the best possible conclusions of a show in general, not so much for the splendid closures of all the various storylines, but for a narrative journey made on the characters which is of notable growth and which has been brought forward and concluded here with a grace that would be the envy of any screenwriter out there. Sang-tae is the one who, more than anyone else, emerges from this story, whose path of maturation is something commendable: we met him who was at the mercy of his trauma and totally dependent on his brother who was more than a burden for he; but thanks to the closeness of the other characters, Moon-young in the lead and having faced, often with pain, all the things that kept him stuck, a character emerged who became a true adult, the older brother who dreamed of be, but above all he learned to understand his brother, to understand his emotions and what made him happy. It was a very long but rewarding journey like few others. In the case of Kang-tae, who repressed everything inside himself, until it exploded like a volcano every time he reached the limit, hiding everything with a false smile, he learned to finally be himself, honest with himself and others , to pursue one's own happiness and not cancel oneself only out of duty towards one's brother or anyone; this is also due to the meeting with Moon-young which was what he needed: a person who would bring out those dormant emotions. In Moon-young's case her change is perhaps slightly more subtle than the other two, because she has gone from an almost petty cynicism, seasoned with a caustic character and a bit of misanthropy, to a real altruism and concern for others (although the caustic character remains mostly) and this thanks both to the two brothers obviously, but also to the reconciliation with Joo-ri and her experiences with the various patients of the clinic. In short, seeing these three, from how they started and seeing where and how they arrived at the end is something that makes you happy and moving. In any case, the final moment, that of separation, has a bittersweet taste, because obviously on the one hand you understand the importance of that moment, but on the other you wouldn't want them to always be together, but in reality it's right like that, because now the two brothers can express themselves fully: Kang-tae with Moon-young and Sang-tae working and living alone doing the work he loves. So many emotions all together. There is little to say about the final confrontation between Moon-young and her mother, also because I had already written much of what I think in the comment on the previous episode, but without going into metatextual authorial intentions of what it may mean or minus Moon-young's disinterest in his mother, obviously, on a purely narrative and character growth level, the answer is given to us by Sang-tae: you can't erase the bad memory and maybe you shouldn't, but you can cover it with something beautiful, better that replaces the sensations and emotions that it emanates. I think it's a nice message and it shows, once again, the acquired maturity of these characters. A few scattered frivolous thoughts: While it's pretty explicit that Sang-in and Joo-ri get together in the end, I would have preferred something more official and romantic than their pinkies touching, but I guess I'll have to be okay with that. As always, Sang-in's actions are questioned and I'm obviously referring to the issue of the manuscript since he said he wouldn't take it and instead then we see him rummaging through the garbage looking for it: I found the whole story, actually, rather funny, because in any case Sang-in remains a character who tends to be tragicomic and still practical, because, as he rightly says, paraphrasing, you never know what dark times there may be in the future, so any insurance is a good thing. Then, if we want to imagine beyond what is shown to us, I doubt he will ever publish it, he cares too much for Moon-young and stayed with her even after he ended up bankrupt; so I think it's more of a joke about his misadventures. Seeing all the old patients again at the end was so nice and, as mentioned, wanting to give closure to all these stories was a nice touch. I appreciated that at the end of the episode they showed the wrong takes: it was a brief moment to see some real lightheartedness from these people who, with their hard work, gave us a beautiful work of art. It is not so strange that the scenes on the balcony of the castle were a separate set with the blue screen: it is unthinkable that all parts of the house, as well as the hospital and other locations, are a single place, because it is difficult to find locations that they reflect 100% all the needs of the script and it is equally unthinkable that they could be built entirely in one place; almost certainly many of the interior scenes will have been soundstages, as always happens. I recently saw a short behind the scenes look at The Atypical Family and the main location is actually an artfully constructed set. Thanks for the reaction to the whole drama, it was very nice to see it with you, you're good at this. Off topic: if you want to stay on the same theme as this recently concluded drama, you should see Daily Dose of Sunshine, which I have already recommended several times, I don't think you will regret it.

Sangtae overcoming the trauma and letting go of gangtae is growth. While gangtae being expressive now and speak his mind is truly a character development. Mun yeong on the other hand, is more empathetic towards others and learns that a bad memory may not be erased, but you can surely cover it with something even more beautiful..A show of comedy, romance, family and emotional well being. Not your typical kdrama that's why this is the best of the best. All the efforts the production had put on to have a show this good is unreal. My favorite trio, Sang-tae, Gang-tae and Mun-yeong.. you may have gone through a lot in life but all of you are just kids that wants to be loved. The ending is very realistic, these three are working on character development, healing and growth. I wish I could say more. But one thing is for sure, I wish I could watch the show like I had the first time. 🤍 Saranghae, saranghandago, saranghandanika. Jinjja neomu neomu saranghae!!!! Thank you so much for uploading MiMi. @fabiosegretario7509 Před měsícem

At this point, I think I can give my opinion on the entire Do Hui-jae subplot. As I already wrote, this is considered the most controversial point of the whole drama, because compared to the other stories, it diverges quite a bit towards another different genre, that of detective stories, from all the other stories present; but in reality what makes it controversial is the fact that it will not be explored further than this, leaving a certain sense of incompleteness especially in spectators who, on this point, were expecting, precisely, a detective story or a thriller that they are hungry for details and instead do not receive them. I'm obviously referring to the mystery of how Do Hui-jae survived being attacked by her husband, given that we saw her die, and how she managed, for twenty years, to hide and live incognito. I would like to focus on a scene that, in my opinion, is the key to why the author did not want to give too many explanations: in this episode, when Sang-tae asked Kang-tae why the head nurse Park Haeng-ja was bad, feeling the explanation, Sang-tae finds the story to be similar to that of Do Hui-jae's novel "The Murder of the Wicked Witch of the West"; when Kang-tae asks if she had read it, Sang-tae replies that she only read part of it, because she found it boring. This point, combined with the fact that, small spoiler, we will discover that not even Moon-young wants to know anything about what his mother did, are in my opinion the best response from the author, in the sense that, as I was saying, if from a detective story or thriller, we would expect that to be the focus, the search for details, for an explanation, the author tells us, indirectly, to forget it, that it is boring, that it is not the focus of his story, but only a means to talk about something completely different. After all, the drama was set up with a narrative guided by the characters, who are the driving force behind everything and their point of view is the focus, which is in complete contrast to detective stories where instead it is the plot that moves the characters and which, consequently, if important details are missing we would rightly speak of a plot hole, but in this case, as mentioned, it was just a pretext to dig into them and see their character evolutions in dealing with the traumas of their lives. I realize that all this seems more like a justification than anything else, a self-delusion and I know that there are the most disparate theories bordering on science fiction out there to fill the lack of an exhaustive explanation, (although in the episode itself Haeng-ja referred to plastic surgery, but which, again in accordance with what I wrote earlier, seems more like a sop on which people can then build whatever they want), in addition obviously to the more cynical ones who cry out about the inability of author to cope with this narrative trap. I remain with my hypothesis, but in the end it doesn't matter, the drama goes in a completely different direction. Clearly, the rest of the episode focuses on rationalizing what happened, from dealing with various feelings of guilt, coming to terms with one's feelings and facing one's fears. I appreciated that Kang-tae got help from the head doctor Oh Ji-wang and that he was honest enough to say that, obviously, he was not upset by what happened and that, obviously, he associated Moon-young with the mother of he; here Oh Ji-wang basically reiterated what he tried to tell Haeng-ja, that leaning on other people is what makes us strong and can help us get out of difficult situations, which is the theme of the entire episode , if not the entire drama somehow. This also applies to Moon-young, who is plagued by guilt and prefers self-exile. Sang-tae is basically the true hero of the story, who, with his simplicity, always says the right things, the ones we need to hear and in this case, as he says himself, now him, Kang-tae and Moon-young they are a family, there is no way they will separate after all this. On top of that, Moon-young doesn't realize that she has created a network of people who love her and who won't let her let go, just think of the whole plan to send her to Kang Soon-duk to eat. If we talk about funny parts, however, Kang-tae's obstinate declaration of love obviously stands out, which recalls, with reversed roles, Moon-young's equally obstinate declaration many episodes ago. But I too, like you, was captivated by that passionate moment when Kang-tae takes Moon-young and prepares to give her what seems like the most passionate of kisses and beyond. However, I would like to applaud actress Jang Young-nam in the role of Park Haeng-ja, both when she was a good nurse and as Moon-young's evil mother. She's a great actress, even though I've mostly seen her in negative roles and I understand why, but recently I saw her in the role of the protagonist's mother in Like Flowers in Sand, a drama that I really appreciated , although undoubtedly smaller than others. Thanks for the reaction.

This episode was a moment of reflection after the shocking revelation of the previous one. Here all the characters had plenty of time to come to terms with what happened, reflect on their feelings and make peace with them. Obviously the focus is largely entirely dedicated to Kang-tae and Moon-young, in particular the latter who came out of it in pieces and had many phases of "mourning", if we want to call them that, in which the sense of guilt it was the main protagonist of all the emotions he felt. And it's understandable, particularly in Asian cultures there is this strong sense of extending responsibilities across the entire family, you see it all the time in films, dramas and even in news events, where the closest relatives are practically called to account of the actions of a close family member. That said, in this case, Moon-young's sense of guilt is still logical, given that we are talking about the murder of the mother of the man she loves, as well as the "new brother" that she has acquired; so her feelings at this juncture are understandable. After all, Kang-tae also previously had to face the same dilemma: how to continue to love the woman who is the daughter of the one who killed her mother; because it is obvious that anyone, with her mind, would go with the thought of her there being with her. But as Kang-tae expressed it well, he only sees Moon-young for who she is, not who she is her daughter. Certainly the most touching moment was when Sang-tae went to feed a "sick" Moon-young, showing a strong sense of responsibility and attachment, continuing to take seriously this new role of elder brother to both Kang -tae that of Moon-young. I think that moment was perhaps what Moon-young needed, a loving gesture from the person who, more than anyone, was the victim of her mother's actions. The character development was so remarkable, superb writing. I found equally interesting the awareness of the head doctor Oh Ji-wang, taking on all the responsibilities of the case, not only as head of the clinic, but also as a human being towards Kang-tae, brother of him and Moon-young . As he himself said and knowing the Korean mentality well, he will surely be held responsible for everything and they will ask for his resignation, after all it is also what is expected after such an incident, even if he is not really at fault. The clinic will certainly never be the same without him as director. And finally the mystery behind the nurse Oh Cha-yong has been revealed: he is the son of the head doctor, which finally explains why he always had this lax attitude towards himself and perhaps towards the job itself, given that it certainly must have been the head doctor himself to force him to work there as a nurse. However, it was a beautiful moment, which tells us a story in very few steps, with Cha-yong scolding his father for paying more attention to his patients than to his family, while the director tried to recover the relationship with him. Here too we can see the excellent work by the authors in managing to characterize the characters well in just a few steps. As for the mystery of Do Hui-jae's survival, as I wrote, what we saw in the various flashbacks may not actually be what really happened, both due to Ko Dae-hwan's illness and his memories everything trusted by Moon-young when she was a child due to the trauma of seeing that moment. That said, again as I wrote, this whole part of the story is the most controversial and the subject of debate because it is deliberately left, I believe, ambiguous and subject to speculation, this is because (and here I make a tiny spoiler) no more will be revealed than this. I have my own interpretation of why the screenwriter wanted it this way, but I will only comment on this at the end. Small honorable mention for Sang-in's awkward declaration of love towards Joo-ri, which however left him hanging, without a real response. As always, I'm rooting for them. Thanks for the reaction, always much appreciated.

This show in general is one of the most well done shows not just in kdrama but overall of any show that has been produced. The storyline. The characters and how each very flawed humans were very well written. Then the development of all the characters even the side ones. It is so well done, well acted. It captured your emotions and then just made you root for them. Get angry with them and cried with them. Absolutely done so beautifully. And the comedy to add it all made the show so much fun to watch. The balance of laughing, crying, anger, frustration and happiness… it was a complete drama. Then comes the acting. Oh Jung Se as Moon Sang Tae did such a phenomenal job. And I love the chemistry between those 3 and how they are all so crazy and flawed and accepted each other. And my favorite duo. I have been a fan of Kim Soo Hyun since forever but this drama made him flew to the top. The growth he showed in his character. And how expertly he delve in the skin of this caregiver who seemed to be so flawlessly giving but with a dark past. And meeting his first love and forever love. So well done. So well written and so well acted. And Seo Yeji as this feisty with a traumatized childhood. Who seemed so bitter and angry yet really just vulnerable. She is absolutely gorgeous. And her fashion is on another level. At the same time made so much sense the way she dressed given who she is. Her need to be loved, to be accepted, to be seen. Yeji was fabulous. The way she just so hungry and so aggressive towards Gang Tae almost challenging him to push her away or be mean to her that made their love story so more engaging. And the chemistry between KSH and SYJ, is the best yet. I have seen many kdrama but these two are top tier. Theirs can’t be beat. The way they stare and looked at each other. So much chemistry. I have seen this kdrama probably 5times. It is just so so well made. Glad I found your page.

Ok, so I wanna mention a few things. 1. Love your reactions, always so heartfelt w/o feeling fake. Thank you for sharing your experience to the wonderful stories you pick. 2. You mention wanting similar stories recommended. Ok, Seo Ye Ji (Moon Young) is a wonderful actress, such a shame she is "canceled" in Korea over dumb controversies... Anyway, besides Eve, which is a criminally underrated but amazing drama, I gotta recommend SAVE ME. This is a hard one, it deals a lot with Korea's history with religious cults and the hard and nightmare reality behind it. It has fantastic acting and it's a crude reality to watch. And I will mention again, IT'S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY, this is a 2014 literal treasure of a drama, that is also not talked about enough. The parallels with mental health, childhood trauma, domestic violence and such, Tourette syndrome, so many topics rarely talked about to this day in Korean TV, heartfelt, wonderfully acted, fantastic soundtrack, OMG this drama needs to be watched. Hope you consider it. 3. Whatever lip convo you are wearing on this video, looks GORGEOUS on you. That's it for now lol

Without wanting to justify Yoo Sun-hae's father in any way, but it is a rather recurring story in many Korean productions that of parents who turn to shamans whenever there is some difficult problem to deal with their children. This obviously falls more heavily on older generations, less educated, more inclined to believe in superstitions, which in reality, in general, the Korean people tend to believe due to culture and therefore there are many cases of children who were, in practice, tortured by the shaman on duty who would exorcise any problem he was suffering from; Flower of Evil comes to mind for example, which reports a similar fact, but in general it is something rooted in the culture of this country, which is highly superstitious, to turn to the figure of the shaman. As I was saying, this is not meant to be a justification, but I understand the mental and cultural mechanism that leads these people to make these choices thinking they are doing good. That said, Yoo Sun-hae's story is the result of a relatively bygone era, that is, that in order to discipline children it was necessary to resort to violence, just think that corporal punishment in Korean schools gradually began to become illegal only after starting from 2010; this is to give an idea of the general mentality. In any case, as is well framed in the episode, what is most controversial is not so much the abuse of one of the parents, which is still serious, but the total indifference of the other, who preferred not to see what was really happening, supporting everything. Then, I speak from personal opinion, I believe that those who forgive do not do so for the person who perpetrated the abuse, but for themselves, for a sense of inner peace; here I connect to the words of Sang-tae, paraphrasing, that love is better than quarrel, because feelings of resentment do more harm to themselves than to those they are aimed at. Obviously this story is linked to that of Moon-young and his parents, in which, apparently, the father pretended until the end not to see what kind of person his wife Do Hui-jae was, at least until he realized that he had killed Kang-tae's mother. It must be said that at that time Ko Dae-hwan was already suffering from the brain tumor, so his ability to understand was compromised. In any case, his account of the story, namely the assassination of Do Hui-jae, could be tainted by illness and not remembering correctly what happened. The same goes for Moon-young as a child, who may remember what happened incorrectly. Having said that, applause Woo Jung-won, the actress who played Do Hui-jae in the flashback, who was absolutely disturbing (thanks to the excellent direction) and therefore understandable that Moon-young had a traumatic childhood for her fault. Going back to this, although Moon-young didn't want to know anything about her father until the end, understandably (even if personally I think it was healthier for her, as I was saying, to visit him) the fact that the last memory she had of he was probably one of the few happy ones, that is, when he read her a fairy tale (which I imagine influenced her to become a writer of fairy tales, in addition to her mother who was a mystery writer) I found it reassuring, like a desire to say goodbye to him with a benevolent thought and not a malevolent one. In the end, although incredibly distorted, probably also due to the disease, Ko Dae-hwan's fear that Moon-young would become like his mother was understandable, which, of course, does not justify his attempts to kill her, but, as mentioned , the disease may have had a significant impact. As I was saying, knowing what you know now, looking back, you can pick up several clues about the characters of Park Haeng-ja and Park Ok-ran: the clues are subtle, but if you look carefully, Park Ok-ran has defined as a fan of Do Hui-jae, in addition to this, it was said that she was an actress and that, it seems, she was preparing for a role in her latest episodes (that of Do Hui-jae, first provoking Ko Dae-hwan and then to Moon-young's house for her birthday). As head doctor Oh Ji-wang guessed, it wasn't Ok-ran who wrote those notes, but Haeng-ja, where she probably gave her instructions on what to do, including the one left at Moon-young's house. If you look back, when the two women interacted together, Ok-ran did not seem to recognize Haeng-ja as Do Hui-jae, in fact he treated her badly, therefore it can be deduced that Ok-ran did not know of his identity and therefore they communicated only with the notes and that Ok-ran didn't know that she was the one who gave them to him. In one scene Haeng-ja said that she liked horror and thriller stories, which links us to the genres of Do Hui-jae's books, namely detective stories and thrillers. And then yes, the biggest clue is when he deliberately freed the patient position that Ok-ran occupied when she ran away, leaving even the doctor perplexed, because he was aware that she would never return... If you analyze then you can find other subtle clues about Park Haeng-ja's character, but it must be said that this part of the story is the most controversial of the whole drama and generally divides the audience; now I won't say why it is divisive, but there is a logic behind it, however debatable, which I will discuss at the end. However, yes, I too, like you, when the twist was revealed, was shocked, because in reality I hadn't even suspected her at all. I don't know if it makes you a bad person not to be moved by Ko Dae-hwan's story, me a little yes, but I tend to always want to make the best out of things, so maybe I'm the weird one. Having said all this, moving on to the sweeter and funnier notes, the whole courtship part of Sang-in and Joo-ri tickles my romantic palate, also because he makes a series of very funny gaffes. I also loved how Joo-ri and Moon-young have definitely become closer, leaving old grudges behind. Thanks for the reaction. Off topic: well, since you asked for recommendations, apart from the already recommended in the past Daily Dose of Sunshine, Castaway Diva, The Atypical Family and Our Blues, I would recommend My Mister, Twinkling Watermelon, Flower of Evil... The first ones that come to mind.

Interesting take on Ko Dae-Hwan's story, I've never actually thought of his memory being fractured due to his tumor and also again with the cultural situation about the older generation was interesting to learn more about but extremely heart-breaking and unfortunate. My love for the simple ease of Sang-In and Joo-ri is high, there wasn't any forced interaction between them. very simple plot Man falls for girl hard and girl falls by giving man a chance. Also I've not watched some of the recommendations you shared so they'll be added to our ever growing list 😂.

So many emotional scenes in this ep. The little girl who was sold by her parents. UGH. I cry everytime GangTae "protects" her so she can speak her piece with her father. Finding out that MunYeong's dad had brain cancer did put some puzzle pieces together. He feared he wouldn't be around to protect her. Also, glioblastoma's do have the ability to not only do damage to a person's regular motor functions, but it also alters their personalities. I don't know why he ultimately thought killing her was the better option. I loved that you started questioning how "off" the head nurse seemed sometimes. I enjoy riding this emotional roller coaster with you. Keep up the good work!
