At this point, I think I can give my opinion on the entire Do Hui-jae subplot. As I already wrote, this is considered the most controversial point of the whole drama, because compared to the other stories, it diverges quite a bit towards another different genre, that of detective stories, from all the other stories present; but in reality what makes it controversial is the fact that it will not be explored further than this, leaving a certain sense of incompleteness especially in spectators who, on this point, were expecting, precisely, a detective story or a thriller that they are hungry for details and instead do not receive them. I'm obviously referring to the mystery of how Do Hui-jae survived being attacked by her husband, given that we saw her die, and how she managed, for twenty years, to hide and live incognito. I would like to focus on a scene that, in my opinion, is the key to why the author did not want to give too many explanations: in this episode, when Sang-tae asked Kang-tae why the head nurse Park Haeng-ja was bad, feeling the explanation, Sang-tae finds the story to be similar to that of Do Hui-jae's novel "The Murder of the Wicked Witch of the West"; when Kang-tae asks if she had read it, Sang-tae replies that she only read part of it, because she found it boring. This point, combined with the fact that, small spoiler, we will discover that not even Moon-young wants to know anything about what his mother did, are in my opinion the best response from the author, in the sense that, as I was saying, if from a detective story or thriller, we would expect that to be the focus, the search for details, for an explanation, the author tells us, indirectly, to forget it, that it is boring, that it is not the focus of his story, but only a means to talk about something completely different. After all, the drama was set up with a narrative guided by the characters, who are the driving force behind everything and their point of view is the focus, which is in complete contrast to detective stories where instead it is the plot that moves the characters and which, consequently, if important details are missing we would rightly speak of a plot hole, but in this case, as mentioned, it was just a pretext to dig into them and see their character evolutions in dealing with the traumas of their lives. I realize that all this seems more like a justification than anything else, a self-delusion and I know that there are the most disparate theories bordering on science fiction out there to fill the lack of an exhaustive explanation, (although in the episode itself Haeng-ja referred to plastic surgery, but which, again in accordance with what I wrote earlier, seems more like a sop on which people can then build whatever they want), in addition obviously to the more cynical ones who cry out about the inability of author to cope with this narrative trap. I remain with my hypothesis, but in the end it doesn't matter, the drama goes in a completely different direction.
Clearly, the rest of the episode focuses on rationalizing what happened, from dealing with various feelings of guilt, coming to terms with one's feelings and facing one's fears. I appreciated that Kang-tae got help from the head doctor Oh Ji-wang and that he was honest enough to say that, obviously, he was not upset by what happened and that, obviously, he associated Moon-young with the mother of he; here Oh Ji-wang basically reiterated what he tried to tell Haeng-ja, that leaning on other people is what makes us strong and can help us get out of difficult situations, which is the theme of the entire episode , if not the entire drama somehow. This also applies to Moon-young, who is plagued by guilt and prefers self-exile. Sang-tae is basically the true hero of the story, who, with his simplicity, always says the right things, the ones we need to hear and in this case, as he says himself, now him, Kang-tae and Moon-young they are a family, there is no way they will separate after all this. On top of that, Moon-young doesn't realize that she has created a network of people who love her and who won't let her let go, just think of the whole plan to send her to Kang Soon-duk to eat.
If we talk about funny parts, however, Kang-tae's obstinate declaration of love obviously stands out, which recalls, with reversed roles, Moon-young's equally obstinate declaration many episodes ago. But I too, like you, was captivated by that passionate moment when Kang-tae takes Moon-young and prepares to give her what seems like the most passionate of kisses and beyond.
However, I would like to applaud actress Jang Young-nam in the role of Park Haeng-ja, both when she was a good nurse and as Moon-young's evil mother. She's a great actress, even though I've mostly seen her in negative roles and I understand why, but recently I saw her in the role of the protagonist's mother in Like Flowers in Sand, a drama that I really appreciated , although undoubtedly smaller than others.
    Thanks for the reaction.
