I live in the states so don't really have a dog in this fight so to speak but, isn't the purpose of HS2 or any railway these days, mainly to reduce the number of cars on the road to help reduce congestion and pollutants as well as shorten the travel times? I don't know if there are congestion issues along the proposed route so maybe it is a waste but, I'd go as far as to say there isn't a government project in existence that hasn't' wasted at least some money...lol.
@@rogerr1296 Thing is Roger many trains that run between where the hs2 route was proposed to be are not at capacity most of the time, in fact far from it. What was really needed on our railways is better links between towns & cities east / west & not main lines into London which is what hs2 was supposed to be. Unfortunately it’s Westminster thinking again that everything revolves around London which it absolutely doesn’t. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for another lovely video. You're right about Tixall Wide. It looks absolutely beautiful. What a way to spend a few days.

I'm fairly new as a narrowboat owner i cannot get over the amount of boat owners who pass moored boats a ridiculous speeds, don't these people have any common sense on boating etiquette.....i know what I'd like to write !!!!!!
@@michealpercy1741 I feel your pain Michael. We totally agree. In the three years we’ve been aboard it seems to be getting worse - maybe mirroring the situation on the roads where many feel they’re entitled above others 🤷🏻♂️. Thanks for commenting. 👍🏻

Can’t wait to meet up again. X
Your very close. Just arrived in Stone. Heading back to G H on Wednesday
We’ll still be here I think.
What a beautiful spot 🤩
There are absolutely no 'rules' about blowing horns at bridges it's just what you've made up. Sods law says you will always meet at a bridge hole just be careful.
You’re absolutely 100% wrong. Boaters handbook page 42 states: Give a long blast with the horn as you approach blind bridges, bends & junctions. See here: canalrivertrust.org.uk/refresh/media/thumbnail/41331-the-boaters-handbook.pdf Also see here; www.canalnarrowboat.co.uk/boat-handling/narrowboat-horn-signals/ But more than that it’s common sense & a courtesy to other boaters rather than being an entitled boater.
Very pretty 🥰by the way, no tornado 🌪️ thankfully 😅 have a lovely time there… 🤗 x

@@nbspudley we are so much, thank you xxx
I've seen this video in my feed even though it's several months old. I had a refleks stove fitted last summer to replace a Morso squirrel stove. I considered a 90 litre tank for the well deck (with no connection to the main engine fuel tank) but opted for a standard Lockgate 50 litre tank, mainly because of the extra price for custom size. With hindsight I would go for a bigger tank for convenience, however I bought two 20 litre jerry cans and use a jiggler hose to transfer diesel to the tank. That gives me 90 litres total capacity at a saving of well over £100. When transferring diesel to the tank I place the jiggler so it just reaches the bottom of the jerry can and then tilt the can 45 degrees forward as the diesel goes down, that just about completely empties the can so I don't need to mess with a funnel. I had a lot of teething problems with my stove, not lighting, not getting hot enough to keep the boat warm, and tar build up on the chimney. Lockgate came back and adjusted the high burn jet supply and slightly adjusted the fuel line position and now it working just fine. I always use meths for lighting. The learning curve was much steeper than I expected and these are my working guidelines - When the diesel level gets low in my 50L tank, below 25% full, the fuel flow can be less than needed to keep the stove burning efficiently. This shows as poor performance and a yellow flame in the burn pot. A bigger tank may avoid this perhaps. If the stove isn't burning properly it causes tar build up in the flue and cowl, the chimney also smokes. Lighting with meths works fine as long as the stove isn't hot. A second attempt after too soon after a failed lighting will cause self-extinguishing blow back and an alarming 'whoomf!' I leave the meths doing it's work until the mesh frame is glowing red, then I turn on the diesel - as you said, at 1 to 1 1/2 on the regulator. At first I spent a lot of time checking all the fuel holes, high and low, with a wire probe to make sure there weren't blocked. It's a time-consuming and fiddly job - and unnecessary if you clean the stove as demonstrated in the video. I am still revelling in the extra space I have where my coal scuttle, kindling wood, bags of coal, and hot ash bucket used to go, not to mention the lack of dust and dirt!
Good advice ref the tilting of the Jerry can Peter. Some other good points made too. Thanks for watching 👍🏻 please have a look at our other videos too & consider subscribing. Glad you’re happy with the stove - we love ours too.
