This MVP evaluation is not about the players - it's about the weights you've subjectively chosen for the award. 50 weight points for the narrative means that nothing else really matters that much. Example: You could be averaging 100pts a game and lose to someone averaging 30pts, but having a narrative on their side. Which obviously makes no sense at all! But that is the case when the narrative is this overblown (like literally, equally as important as both numbers and winning?!?). In my subjective opinion it should be: 33% numbers 33% winning 33% narrative You are however totally right that's how most people look at this award! #1 Jokić, #2 SGA I don't think anyone in their right mind would place Tatum #3, but that's an outlier :- ) Loved your content anyway. Hakeem is better, Shaq is greater. People ALWAYS confuse the two. There's a reason Russell is ranked higher than the much more skilled Wilt by just about everyone, and why the good-not-great at scoring Magic Johnson is still thought of as the GOAT point guard by many despite what Steph can do, or why Duncan is considered the GOAT power forward over the more skilled and versatile Barkley and KG, and so on. Shaq doesn't have the skill and the defense of Hakeem. True. But in his prime he was just so ridiculously dominant it was like watching a cartoon. He's the greater player.

Was I happy for KD winning his first ring? At first, but I watched the next year just so the Warriors would lose. Can't help but wonder if he stayed at OKC and never got a ring; big deal, Harden and Westbrook never will (sorry, but it's the truth). I now wish I hadn't watched or worried about either. To be fair those rings count but if you do take away those rings, he led his team to the finals in 2012 and won a MVP in 2014. That’s still like an Allen Iversion. He’s an all time great. And add those 2 rings with finals mvps, he’s up there with Hakeem and Kobe. To all the defensive delusional Kobe fans, he only has 2 finals mvps and 1 mvp, just like KD. The debate should be Duncan vs. KG. Then you get an interesting conversation about skill vs legacy. All due respect to Dirk, people that assume that there's even a debate here simply didn't watch Minnesota KG play. No other explanation because it's not that close. Chris Webber was at least as good as Dirk until he got hurt, if not better, and he's a great player in his own right but nobody thinks of him as a potential GOAT power forward.

I started truly watching NBA, like every game of my favorite team, when Seattle became OKC when I'm in highschool, and KD was my favorite player. I was very proud even when they lost vs Heat and nearly beat the Warriors. When he left, I was devastated. I rooted for him in GSW despite it tho, and tbh not sure if he would have won a ring anyways when he stays.

You either complement your PG with defence (Denver, Boston, OKC) or you try to jam together two offensive minded guards (Lakers, Bucks, Indiana).
