How Native English Speakers REALLY Speak (Expectation VS Reality)
Sure those examples might be extreme but my point is that a lot of English student who never spoke with native speakers are not ready for such real life listening tests. Personally, I remember those textbook CDs with people speaking super clearly - very rarely have I heard people speaking like that in real life.
I don't understand most of what is said in this video, for me the American girl is relatively easy to understand, I can catch most of it. Austin Powers was speaking like that on purpose, of course. I can't understand the Irish 'frostbutt' guy at all (I think he became quite famous after his video went viral).

The point is they are quite fun! (or funny? oh, English is so confusing) We might not exactly look like ones but we both are Russians and native Russian speakers. I am going to ask my friend...

Emily is Paris is an American romantic comedy about a girl who went to Paris. Most characters speak English in the show, which made me wonder how it was translated to French. I did a little research and found the answer quite interesting. #emilyinparis #netflix #french
REAL Russian Accent (from slight to evil)

I am a native Russian speaker and in this video I demonstrate several stages of Russian accent. Beginning with a slight accent and all the way to "evil Russian". Russian accents are sometimes misrepresented in movies. The funniest thing about it is when all Russian speak like some kind of mobsters. Although, in a lot of cases this is correct because, well, in a lot of cases Russian movies chara...
Why RED SPARROW is Funny For Russians
zhlédnutí 747Před 2 lety
Red Sparrow (2018) is an American spy movie about a Russian ballerina Dominica Erogova who was turned into a spy. This is a good example of how you never get a second chance to make a first impression. The Red Sparrow teaser that came out in 2017 had a scene that was really funny for Russians. In this video I am explaining what was wrong with that scene. It is interesting that the scene was dif...

This reminds me of the Spanish dubs of Toy Story 3 where Buzz gets a mode where he speaks Spanish and acts romantically and so they changed its name to romantic mode and gave him an exaggerated peninsular accent (for Spain that’s Andalusian and it’s also used in the Catalan dub)

Russia is huge and has a lot of different ethnic groups that nevertheless speak Russian in a day-to-day life. This guy could be kalmyk, kazakh, udmurt, buryat, hanty, tuvan (there's this one infamous dude from Tuva called Sergey as well, smh) or anybody else for that matter. Those nations actually descent from the same mongolian tribes that the Chinese descent from. My guess is one of the aforementioned groups, but I'm not from the Asian part of Russia to actually identify which one in particular.

The only problem with people faking russian/ ukrainian/ the likes is that it's a Russian accent hyperimposed above an English accent. Like for instance, read this in a russian accent: "Hello, my name is viktor ivanov". You probably pronounced it like this: Hello, my name is vic•tor Eye•vanov. In writing it would be "Здравствуйте, меня зовут Виктор Иванов". One thing to notice is that Ivanov (иванов) does not start with an "i", but rather a "y" that is pronounced like ē, or ee. Like Henry, my name. So ivanov in a russian accent would sound like eevanov. Another thing to note is that Russians typically emphasise a single vowel in a word; I will use capital letters to visualize this. Ivanov= EEvanov. Hello= haillOH. There are a many other things to consider when imitating a russian accent convincingly, you must learn how the russian accent sounds while speaking russian. It's not just the pitch and flow of a sentence or word, but specifically how the letters of words interact with eachother.
