    I thought Twilight is really yard to read. I read it because my cousin pushed me to read the books she bought. She didn't give up till i finished. But the first one took FOREVEEER. I felt like i was reading a book wrote by primary school kid with learning disabilty. A very slow book and an even worse narration. I haven't read Midnightsun but i did look for reviews to see if is as bad. And MyGod i didn't not expect it to be THIS worse...this feels like a school essey where Meyers tried to fill the page with as much useless words possible. How does she have fans? Seriously, how??? I appreciate you more for suffering for us, so that we wouldn't have to...

    The Black Mages have a lifespan of about 3 years from their date of manufacture, but it's completely random as to when (or if) they gain sentience, which is why their lifespans seem a little more random. Most of the Black Mage Village doesn't understand death at all; stopping, for them, is temporary, until Kuja shows up and explains death to them, and that's when he offers to "save" them. Mr. 288 is the only one before that who truly understands what it is to die, and he doesn't explain it to the others because he doesn't want them to experience the fear he does. Hi I love the Black Mage Village story

    even though i believe the love triangle is the least important part of the the legendborn cycle series, after hearing his rants about these books i kinda want to know what Krimson would think of the legendborn cycle and how it treats its characters/magic/romance ect. i don’t thinlk lightlark compares to legendborn At All but i still think the contrasts are so fascinating to consider. bree vs isla, nick vs oro, selwyn vs grim

    I will state the conflicting image of needing to be careful with money while still trying to maintain a high class sensibility, or even the basic appearance of not being poor, is very common in my neck of the woods and among the families i grew up around. My brother calls it 'keeping up with the Joneses' which i assume is a fairly common phrase as hes not the only person ive heard use it.

    @4:15:50 I think the book’s commentary around Cinder is very telling about Aster’s view of talent. She thinks someone can simply be born good at something and excel without any training. Anyone who’s studied any art form for more than a little while knows that this doesn’t exist. You can only get so far with raw talent. At some point, you need to study & work to improve your craft. This book is a manifestation of Aster’s lack of discipline around the craft of writing

    Probably doesn’t like Italy and its history of facism. Poland was invaded by Nazis. I feel like it’s justified like how a lot of older Japanese people don’t like Americans. Makes sense and I get it. I find it realllllyyyy uncomfortable that she’s talking about how much she hates Italians and then begins to stereotype them to death and sexualize them.

    I'm really sorry but I haven't been able to watch more than 2 hours of this video, even though I've been a fan of all your previous reviews despite the lenght. There's just, something about the way this book is written, where the events seem to be barely connected. There's a vault, then there's a feast with all sorts of weird bullshit happening, then there's a coronation, then they're all attacked, then they're in some weird place, the attack isn't brought up in any way for the next 30 minutes. It feels like, my attention lapses for a minute and it's like I opened the review in a random part. First time watching through it I had to skip all the way back to the beginning, but even on the second try it's not making any sense to me.

  • @FTZPLTC
    @FTZPLTC Před 9 hodinami

    K, getting to the end of this one, and... is there some requirement that, if you're going to do the "enemies to lovers" trope, one of the enemies has to be an utterly irredeemable piece of garbage? Like, I guess that would make sense if your protagonist was omni-Good and you wanted to provide contrast, but still, can't the enemies just be, like, on opposing sides in a war, rather than the architects of genocide?

    • @GamersHolyArmy
      @GamersHolyArmy Před 50 minutami

      The problem with the enemies to lovers trope is that a lot of authors seem to be so interested in the 'enemies' part they forget to make a believable transition to the 'lovers' part even possible.

    to me, Gerard is the one exception when it comes to celebrities writing books. His real passion is comics, he never expected mcr to go so far. If you watch the MCR documentary "life on the murder scene", you can see gerard's earlier concepts and drawings for TUA characters. He went to art school and was trained in comics, he knows what he's doing. Anyways I'm a huge MCR and TUA fan, as well as basically everything Gerard does. He's totally a one-of-a-kind creative and I aspire to be like him someday.

    I still can't get over that portal nonsense, mostly the why of it. Why was it necessary? Was the og world overpopulated? Suffering from global warming? Did someone set off a bunch of nukes making it uninhabitable? Is lightlark world a prison colony? What feature of the portal destroys lightlark world? Does it destroy the whole world or just the island continent? On that note is this lightlark world a proper planet or a pocket dimension? Is it in an entirely different universe from the og world? How far does lightlark world extend? If after hundreds if not thousands of years lightlark world isn't at the og world's level of magic and technology then how advanced are they now, would they even be willing to help them? What if what they want has been outlawed or made completely unavailable, what then? And the most important question of all; who thought any of this was a good idea?

  • @RoseWilder
    @RoseWilder Před 13 hodinami

    Honestly, these reviews are really helpful in analyzing my own work. I decided when I started working on one particular story that I was going to write the whole series in one go, to prevent myself from forgetting or falling out of the story. It was going to be 3 books, but then I realized just how plot dense that would be, so I instead decided on 6 books. The magic system is somewhat complicated, and the complication of it is part of the story, but I know that I won't be done fully developing it until I've written the first draft of the whole series. I'm almost done with the first draft of book 1, and I have already noted down several things I know I have to fix when I re-write this whole thing. There is no way I'm falling into the same issues as some of the writings discussed here, but seeing work like this published does give me hope that I can make it out there.

    Wait I just had an idea to make use of both the 'starlings are abused' and the 'there are ostracized wildlings' threads. What if those wildlings were eating starlings? Maybe buying them from slavers, or enticing them with better paid labour, or otherwise luring them across in a way most wildlings find distasteful? Most wildlings seem to hunt for their food, so that could be part of why people look down on this group. Would also help reinforce how some see the starlings as disposable, plus potentially give another motivation to the villain from the last book-- the wildling ruler doing nothing about it would probably make me pretty mad, too.
