Restoration - Antique French board game Billard Nicolas 1925s
Restoration of a very old board game from France “Billiard Nicolas”. This antique board game is from the 1925s.
Game instructions:
In this large traditional wooden game, you can play with 2, 3, or 4 players. Your objective is to score goals without conceding any. You propel the ball using your bulb (press on it to expel air). Each time you concede a goal, you gain a point. If you reach 3 or 5 points, you're considered eliminated. The game continues, and you remain in the game but become neutral. As soon as 3 players have conceded 3 goals, the 4th player wins. This huge ancient game is very friendly. We have a lot of fun.
Inventor:
Billard Nicolas is a board game of skill in the billards family, invented by Nicolas Redler in France in 1894.
What have I done:
I bought this old board game on eBay for 200 €. The board game was very worn out. It had been lying in a garage for a long time, where there was a lot of moisture. As a result, the wood was severely damaged. First, I removed the upper black ring from the base plate. Since the veneer on the base plate was chipped, I had to tear off the entire veneer. Underneath the veneer was a 3 mm thick wooden board. I also tore this off. Then I bought a new veneer on eBay. This was an oak veneer. I glued this veneer onto the base plate and put it into a vacuum bag. This allowed me to achieve the same pressure everywhere on the base plate. On the back of the base plate, the original veneer was still present. It was a bit old, but I didn't want to remove it so that you could still see a little charm from the antique board game, showing its age. I just lightly sanded and cleaned this veneer. The legs of the base plate were also completely damaged. I had to replace them with new ones. For this, I took a piece of wood and cut out circles. I sanded these at a 45° angle and glued them onto the plate. When the base plate was finished, I moved on to the black ring. The black ring had the score counters and the holders for the air pump. I had to disassemble all of these first. Then I lightly sanded the black ring, primed it with gray paint, and then painted it black. When the ring was dry, I put it on the base plate and fastened it with six screws. Of course, I used original screws. I cleaned the screws slightly with a steel brush and then polished them. The score counters were very worn out. So I cleaned all the white and red balls from dirt, lightly sanded them, and painted them. I blasted the metal brackets of the score counters with a sandblaster, sanded them afterward, and then nickel-plated them. Then the score counters were mounted back onto the black ring. I also sandblasted the holders for the air pump, connected them afterward, and then nickel-plated them. Finally, all I had to do was pump the air, clean it a little, and lightly sand the metal tips. Then the air pumps were mounted onto the game's holders. The result looks great. You can play the game properly again. When you turn the game around, you can see the old charm of the game. After all, the game is from 1925. How do you like the restoration of the game?

Restoration Coffee Grinder 1920s - England suffolk iron foundry

An incredible restoration. Old, rusty coffee grinder (Suffolk Iron Foundry) from 1920 restored. I acquired an old coffee grinder on eBay for €240. The coffee grinder dates back to the year 1920 and has its origins in England. Upon closer inspection, I noticed significant signs of wear and tear: the paint is partially chipped, and the handle is even broken. Additionally, the base on which the co...

Why not electrolysis?
How many bots you have in your comment? - Yes.
18:00 You should have made new balls that are actually round and that roll straight! I think a heavier perfectly round ball would make it a game of skill. With wonky balls it's kind of a game of chance because you never know when the ball will take a turn.
Back in 55 I us to get middle back hole every shot , no diddy of course or whatever you young lads say these days
Cool rig but you got the exhaust stacks up side down bro!.😮
With the surface cracks I would never have released the hammer?why first of all the hammer has not gone through no surface crack test with the beard he had a must.. And after processing it would have had to be re-hardened, so the hammer is soft in the surface
That new varnish/finish looks drier than a nuns chuff
Thank you so much for sharing. I watched with my 5 year old and he said excitedly..."ok, he needs to show me how to do this!" It's very gratifying to get my kids excited for making/restoring things.
A real blacksmith wouldn't play such "miracles" even for five minutes. He would just throw the hammer into the fire and forge it again. In this way, he would obtain perfect surfaces - smooth and mutually perpendicular. But the most important thing is that it would harden the face of the hammer!!!! Good, professional work. I wonder what this work of art will look like after the first use? Because this hammer is too utilitarian to be a real work of art, and too artistic to be a utilitarian tool. And dilettantes write "great video" in the comments. ROTFL
Respect for using that awful wood veneer for an authentic restoration
I think you spring way to fast between the scenes. Can you please make the scenes a bit longer because its quite annoying when there are like 4 cuts in a second
собрал по сути новый бильярд, пиздёшь, конечно, но смотреть интересно)))
Never liked this old type of shtty wood
Хорошая игрушка для детей. Правда для очень маленьких. Я в детсве играл в другой бильярд,он как настоящий, только меньше. Метра полтора в длину.
Damn bro why did you have to get rid of the billussy
Buen video papu
Золотые руки!

I hope that you have washed the gloves before handling these chewing gums 🥶
Que mier.. es soccer???? Se dice fútbol ⚽
You use a drill with a perfect wooden surface beneath your work? You must have lot of confidence not to make a small slip.
なんかところどころ荒くて雑
At 8:44, the parts fit so well that it sounds like it sings, I swear!!!
О, карманный бильярд
Something is not right here, the title says that the table is from 1933, and at 1:57 they are processing a detail of the table, which seems to be made of chipboard, unless I'm blind, of course. But the chipboard was developed in 1956, although I met information that it was in the forties. But this essentially does not change it 10 years later.

👏👏👏👏👏 ¿y la línea de meta?
I actually made a wood buck to vacuum form my own replacement glass for these. I loved the way you refinished the wheels. I didn’t think of doing it that way.
Great job, proper restoration and video. And then he makes the coffee like wtf? :D Anyway, one of the best jobs I've seen with coffee grinders.
Restoration? Nah. Basically made a new one.
Вот это да! Стол выглядит лучше, чем когда мы его покупали!
Satisfacción ver el vídeo completo 😌

리페어가 아니고 그냥 신제품 제작인데??..
One of the very best restorations!! Where did you find this antique??
Fantastic video ....but why why why did you not lacquer the wood. ... It was soooo painful to watch all that fantastic work ...then see the water stain ... But no lacquer 😢...yes the original may have not done it for cost saving reasons ... but surely a missed opportunity on a water based stain ?
I guess with rubber you can't really fix it, just replace it when damage is bad enough?
