  • Restoration of an old and rusty corkscrew and bottle opener. Project restoration and reused. A piece of history and the environment saved.
The corkscrew and bottle opener is made of brass and looks like a ship anchor. I bought the bottle opener on Ebay for € 5.
The brass was very dirty. In addition, the workpiece was poorly processed.
I had to file a lot to make the surface smooth again. The restoration was worth it. The corkscrew and bottle opener shone like gold.

Granted the look is beautify "posh". There were about three stages in the restoration process that is completely marketable. Initially the aged look is acceptable from the start. There are people who look for that. While not specifically classy, the brushed bronze look is also a thing of beauty. Finally the 24K gold polish look its also nice. I was wondering the whole time, where are you going to stop? You went alllllllll the way.

like the looks of that ale. I'll bet it's good. Not a big wine fan, though I can make wine out of any juice or even plain water.

You need to put a clear polyurethane sealer over the brass to keep it from just tarnishing again.
I manager a restaurant that had brass handrails in it.

The end result may be fun to use, but it's not a renovation but a modification.
The corkscrew as a collector's item was irretrievably broken, because the patina and excess metal were its original factory appearance.
Fortunately, it is a common item, so nothing bad happened, but if it were a high-class relic, it's a shame.

i seriously would have rather had it the other way and too when pouring wine face label down roll upwards to face label towards customer or audience also this helps from wine drippage

I didn't know polishing (not even the finest one) was proudly called "restoration" these days. Also what is "crazy" in this "restoration"?
