- In this video I am restoring a very old and rusty Tonka Car Carrerier Truck from 1963. Restoration Project.
I bought the Tonka Car Carrier Truck on eBay for € 20.
What was done:
New windshields were made
A piece of sheet metal was used to create a new ramp for the Car trailer
The entire truck was sandblasting once and then powder coated.
The wheels and seats were put in a hydrogen peroxide basin. This made the plastic parts turn white.
New stickers were stuck on.

you video quality has improved a lot. it was pleasuring to watch btw it was a great restoration...
I have this exact model and it’s in great shape!
I think they were called "Space Cabs". I have one as well. Possibly closer to the condition of yours than this. I am contemplating restoring it. May just do a freshen up though.
I can send you a picture of mine what’s your email?
Nice
LIKE 👍👍👍👍
Fantastic job, looks dead cool, liked the way you made the new windscreen, never seen that done on a Tonka restoration before. Helpful hint though, aluminium is easier to bend in an annealed state, and it’s a piece of cake to do. Rub a bar of soap over the aluminium and then heat with a blowtorch until the soap goes black, the aluminium should be in its annealed state then. Obviously you need to work it fairly quickly because it will age harden. Hopefully that will help you on future projects.
👌
You inspire me when I watch you videos

The windshield is in good condition, without cracking. I don't see the need to make a new one
It was scuffed and battered. It might clean up with some polishing, but it would still be old and brittle.

I thought the same...
If Dexter was a hobbyist.
Some of the shots in this video make me think someone got a new macro lens 😋
Now you need a little car to drive up onto your car carrier.

You have deliverd a beautiful restoration. The ramps are also a wonderful extension.
It is a pity that the making of the windshield is not clearly recorded.
Wer war eigentlich dein Kameraman oder-fraude?
Grűße aus den Niederlanden.
Retrobrite, sandblasting, AND powder coat? Is it my birthday?
Original factory light green, they came with 2 plastic Tonka Corvettes (63-67 era body style of cars) a yellow and a red Stingray )
Great Video! I actually just restored an old 1960s Tonka Dump truck over on my channel!
I agree with Bill Schipper, get some cars to place on the trailer
Love the video. Could i ask for more detail on the new windshield?

You should make a video on windshield making
Factory original green paint on the Medium size aka mini Tonka auto carrier rig
Almost perfect, should've UV the headlights too and looks like it's missing the taillights? Otherwise an outstanding restore!
Tell you now there is no way he made a new windshield using that process thats why the film was cut just where did the block of wood in the middle come from? cleaned up original with the old floor polish trick or had a repro part to use
No tail lights? What goes on the back of those?
