Again I found a new restoration project on eBay. This time it's a very old Tonka Mighty dump truck from the 1970s.
First, the entire Tonka dump truck was dismantled. All metal parts were blasted with the sandblaster. I used powder coating for painting. The first thing was primed with a gray paint. This was sanded. For heavily rusted parts, I primed a second time. Finally, the dump truck was powdered yellow.
The wheels were sanded with 200 abrasive paper. Then washed and then processed with fire. This gives the plastic a nice black look.
Since the axles were very rusty, I made new ones out of stainless steel.
Unfortunately the windshield could not be restored. That's why a new windshield was bought. Then all components were assembled. So that the Tonka Mighty Dump Truck looks like the original, I bought new original stickers.

You didn't have a complete childhood if you didn't have one of these as a kid!
Can you imagine what parents today must think of this? Some of them probably had those Tonka toy vehicles when they were kids, and where they might be watching these restoration videos with their own kids, and all the while the grandparents must be looking on remembering those days as well, seeing their grown up kids with now their own kids.
The bigger the truck, the greater the joy of completion.
I had that truck when I was a child. How wonderful is to watch it again like if it just had left the store.
👍
Dude I did too it was actually indestructible
I had that truck when I was a kid. It was my toy man, my favorite toy. Thank you for doing this right.
Wow! Just like mine looked in 1972 when I was five.
Absolutely Beautiful. I would like one in Lime green and Orange.
Such a calming affect seeing something restored from trash to treasure.

I have a picture of my two year old brother standing in the bed of one of these trucks! Just amazing craftsmanship. Beautiful restore.
I had one of these as a child and was my favorite toy for years.

I can remember sitting in the dump box and riding one of these down hills.
I still have the scar on my hand from doing that :)
Tonka needs to send you a t-shirt or something! I had this truck(who didn't). Sitting in the dump bed and rolling down the hill. great memories. Thanks for bringing this ole' truck back to life

Me and my mate both had one of these dump trunks, guess what we used them for???😁🖖
👏🏻👏🏻
Some positive about your work is, your sandblaster is always cleaner, brighter and seeable, unlike most other resto guys. Your final product is great.
The negative is, you sometimes skip on proper cleaning of the wheels, like here. You should take the wheels out of the tires and clean them properly.
Your final assembly on that hard scratchable surface makes me pull my hair. Lol.. Use a towel to assemble the final product on.
Your DIY paint booth is clever. 👍
Dieses Gelbe Farbe ist so hell, aber super gemacht
Круто
Hey guuyss... Chris fix here
6:55 soapy wooder... 😂😂😂
