If I were to get a Pango Kit - it would NEED to be a BIT POINTIER = I am a BcR Fan
that drill bit idea isnt bad to get the the neck hole center. you can get some cheap center punch kits aswell. ive got that that goes from 1mm to 24mm's off ebay.
Great series of videos. Thank you. I Would be very interested in getting a Flying V kit and receiving a discount.
Nice work Bill, I love the natural colour of that wood 👍
Thanks Gio, yeah I was really surprised what the natural wood looked like with a finish applied. I have another one in the wings that I may go natural on.
The red does look sick, brother! Your attention to detail and quality is awesome, man. When will you finish the PRS build from GGBO?
Thanks BK. The red looks super cool. Finishing is my weak spot so I need as much practice as I can get.
I wish they had BcRich style kits
Email them and ask. They do some custom order stuff as well if I remember correctly
asslick paper???
Super Assilex...yes
a good idea to have the scratch plate together with the pickups when aligning?
I try to have it as complete as possible when aligning everything.
I had that same to paint or not to paint dilemma with the Thick Lzzy buiild. Ohhh I just noticed the RC planes hanging up. I STILL have yet to fly a full pack on fixed wing. I can fly the Bajeebus out of race / freestyle drones though. (pre F.F.A. over reach) That Red is gonna explode once that clear is leveled and buffed. One can never go wrong with a red or black V. PS did you get that text with the ESO info?
I did get the text, just haven't been playing lately.
Bill, you give as much attention to the kit as you did to your own builds in GGBO. looking really good
Thank you. Yeah, it leads to a great guitar in the end. The kits are great quality.
It's always a pleasure to see someone correctly prep a complicated paint job, gerat work! I am curious why you decided not to add metalic gold underneath the top coat of candy apple, it would have made that red come alive and really pop. Anyway, it's still very well done and I can't wait to see that 'V' all polished up and ready to rock!
Hi John, yeah I saw that some use white and some use gold. I ordered they entire paint kit from Oxford Paint and they supply white with the paint kit. I have another guitar in the works that I will also do in candy apple red and I'll use gold on that one. I still have a lot to learn in regard to applying paint finishes.
@@billsguitargarage No worries brother, I've been a hobbyist painter/finisher for over 20 years and learn new tricks and processes every time I start a project. The possibilities are so endless that you can never know everything or even where to begin sometimes. Keep up the fantastic work!
Yeah Bill, looking really good.
Thank you. Finish is my weak point so trying to get it right :)
Nice work Bill I need to get started on my V thanks for the help!
Thanks, they are fun kits to build for sure.
nice !!!
Looking good.
Many thanks!
When you program a tone does it also recall the eq settings?
No, the EQ settings stay the same. The only digital part of the amp is the reverb, delay, and noise gate. The boost is digital, but it is a set amount and can only be turned on or off. There is no adjustment for it
Hello! I'm definitely going to order one of these, I have a question: Which inputs/outputs did you order? I want stereo and mono capabilities because I gig lots of different places but the website is a little confusing. Thanks.
I got the mono outputs, but they have the stereo ones available
As always, amazing work from an amazing person and artist!!! Are you thinking of like a dark metallic gray color to accent the gold hardware?
Thanks BK. Yeah, that would be a good colour combo. But gonna keep everyone waiting until the next video. It is going to be nitro lacquer so once I paint it and apply the clear coat, I'll let it hang for about a month before I do the level sand and polish.
@@billsguitargarage Nitro lacquer, like Oxford? I know you won't spoil it, but that Charcoal Frost would be in that realm....
@@bigkahuna100 I am using Oxford
The guitar is coming along pretty well.
Thanks. It really does start with a well designed and cut out kit. Everything has fit together perfectly.
Smooooootthhh Cant wait to see it under color and what you have decided on.
Many thanks. I got the paint in and will be starting the finish application this week. Fingers crossed that it turns out the way I am hoping. Painting is NOT my strong point, so I've dragging my feet just a bit!
@@billsguitargarage I saved up over winter and got a 3 gallon air compressor and a spray gun. That way I dont have to paint with an on demand weak sauce pump and air brushes. I will be able to do in 5 minutes what took several hours before on a body.
@@borgonianevolution I have a 30 gal compressor already, and my next tool purchase is a HVLP spray gun and associated equipment
Nice work Bill thanks for the lessons!
Thanks for stopping by the channel and watching the video.
hey man Ive been looking too find a kit like the V you built! Im 16 and trying too build a guitar my name is holden so If you could put in a good word Anyways have a good night.
Ive also really enjoyed the videos so far
Thanks Holden. If you can give your last name as well, I will definitely forward it up. You really couldn't go wrong with this kit. The hardware is good quality, and so far every set of pickups that have come with the kits sound very good.
@@billsguitargarage I will probably be upgrading the pickups at some point maybe with some dave mustaine signatures
@@billsguitargarage Smith
@@Lunar-iu5nq or you can try some of my pickups! I make Sonora Custom Wound pickup. I have my signature Siderwinder set. Teams a high output bridge with a PAF styled neck. I have that set in several guitars. It’s actually my favorite set that I make.
nice board and pedals!
Thanks, the pedal board is nice for sure. Just need to do some head to head with some of my pedal to see what is going to actually end up on the board. This will probable be my stay at home unit so have to see what works best in my home studio environment
Very nice board. I am glad to see you posting videos to draw in enthusiast as opposed to only builders! I plan to do something similar. It's a hard habit for me to break😂 I have become obligated internally to teach!! It seems to be my thing and I know you do that as well but it's really nice to see you broaden the horizon. Good job!✌️&💙
Many thanks Todd. Got a few more interesting things planned as well. Just got to knuckle down a start. Setting up to video is my least favorite part :)
Thats a nice looking and well thought out board. Sadly at my age I couldnt lift something like that to vacuum the floor let alone take it anywhere once it was populated with pedals. (to all who dont know I am broken and have back issues)
I just hoover around mine... No telling how much dust is under it! :)
I thought you were like 23 Bill😂
@@SweetTGuitars Don't I wish!
@@SweetTGuitars No sir I "LIKE"23.. preferably red heads with green eyes. Freckles are optional. I will be 60 in like two weeks haha
The Gibson factory in China. It’s made at gibson by American Gibson artisan run factory in China.
Thanks. Epiphone quality has really come along way. They are very good guitars.
Would love a discount on a Pango kit. Great work, Bill! Really enjoying all your builds.
I sent your name over to Pango Music.
Thanx for the review , I was considering buying one but not now . Most things I have bought that are made in China by slave labor are crap . I really miss American made quality products...
It is a good kit. I have been playing this one for a year now and it's still plays and feels great.
I ordered a custom explorer kit from Pango which should be arriving soon. Do you normally use the stock hardware and pickups that come with the kit, or do you replace them?
I use the hardware that comes with the kit. I have been really happy with the pickups. They sound good. The wire harness and pots are well soldered, the pots are the smaller Alpha pots. The bridge is also good quality. The tuners have improved as well. If you were thinking of any upgrades, I would say make a set of locking tuners the 1st priority.
@@billsguitargarage Awesome, thank you for the response!
thank you
Definitely interested in making my own V as well!
When you're ready just let me know your name and I can forward it up.
Thanks Bill great work, one question though. If you didn't adjust the break angle do you think it would have caused issues getting the guitar to play right? This could be a critical step if so that should not be skipped by someone just trying to quickly glue these kits up thanks for the demonstration and knowledge these vids will be invaluable when I start gluing my kit.
It was completely playable the way it was. I didn’t really adjust the break angle, I just did some very fine tweaking to the body and neck joint to make it as perfect as possible. I could have left it as is, and it would have been fine.
@@billsguitargarage thank you that is exactly what I was asking! How has the other V's neck mod held up? You took some material off to smooth it out just wondering if it has affected the joint in any way? it was a good idea I thought.
@@PolishHammer It has held up great! No issues at all.
@@billsguitargarage thats what I was hoping these are very nice kits but that neck heel is a bit clunky for a V Pango should fix that as I am going to be winging it haha! I have been practicing by gluing all the broken drawers back together, kitchen is fixed on to the bathroom! Then maybe the guitar...
Bill, that thing is looking stunning so far!!! Looking forward to seeing the completion. If you had a carved top LP, would you use Tonepros LPM04 and stoptail or Hipshot .175 floor hardtail?
Thanks BK. I am actually starting on 2 carved top LPs. I would definitely go with the Tonepros TOM/STP. For me that is the only way to go for a carved top LPO. The hipshot would be great on an LP Jr flat top guitar tough
I am always going to say green or purple, or a combination of the two. On this one though I think it would be cool if you did a color scheme like the Dime Slime ML from dean. Dime Slime V.
Green would be cool. Both those colours would go well with the gold hardware
@@billsguitargarage Dime Slime it and it would look good, or you gould do a purple burst and give it a prince type treatment.
Great neck alignment!
Yeah, the routes from the factory were pretty much spot on.
I don't have faith in my ability to put a kit together but would you be willing to put a bass kit together if I pay for the kit?
It is something we could discuss for sure. There are some logistics to work out with shipping once it is complete. But in all honesty, the kits are very easy to put together.
@@billsguitargarage putting it together is part of it, but staining and finishing it pro style is where I fret the most.
I'm definitely interested on getting a kit
When you are ready to get one, just let me know your name and I will send it forward.
I want a flying v.
This one is a good one for sure
@@billsguitargarage could you sell me one?
@@salvadortenorio9789 My concern would be shipping, especially without in being in a case. but if you are interested we can definitely discuss more.
@@billsguitargarage ok
Man if I lived in your neighborhood i’de be at your house everyday !
Is the finish guy still doing it?
I do not know. I have not been on the Unofficial Warmoth forum in ages.
Yeah, these pickups sound amazing!!!!
Thank BK. They are actually my favorite set that I make. I currently have them in 3 guitars
See through black would look awesome.
That would really look cool with a figured top. I have a Pango LP Custom kit with a flame maple top that I am planning on doing in a transparent black.
Would love to see a red V as well.
Actually, Red was my first though with the gold hardware, sort of an Iron Man theme.
@@billsguitargarage heck yeah
I did one of these with a black guard and I painted it hunter green. I installed Guyker locking tuners and GFS solderless pups. It looks and plays and sounds killer. I am doing a big jazz box L-5 kit next. Good quality stuff from Pango so far.
Hunters Green is a killer colour
@@billsguitargarage It looks great with the gold hardware.
A Red flying V could be sick! can't wait to see how this turns out.
I am considering a candy red.... I think that would be killer with the gold hardware
Ive been wanting to see a build on this specific kit, so I'm excited to see you do one. If I end up getting one, I think I'll do a cherry finish like you see on SGs. It'd be hard to beat when you throw on that gold hardware!
If you decide to get the kit, let me know and I can forward your name up to Pango music and they can give you a discount.
Good for you Bill. I'm happy for you brother!✌️&💙
Many thanks Todd.
heya Bill, I bought a kit after watching your last flying V build, great kit bit I did have an issue with the nut being too high and not seated properly....nothing that a bit of tinkering couldnt fix.....I went with a 58 flying V vibe on mine and had a go at relicing the hardware.....turned out really well, thanks for the vids
It is very common (and in fact preferred) for the nut to be too high. So much easier to file the slots a bit rather than cutting and installing a new nut in the event it’s too low. Glad my videos have been even the smallest bit helpful!
Looks pretty good. The grain on the body and on the neck look nice enough that I think it would be a shame to fully cover it with an opaque paint finish. Either a clear or tent of color I believe would look real good. Maybe a red or amber tent even though I don't care for red it really would go better the color of the wood.
a Cherry finish might be an option.
Looks great! I will make a small suggestion: sparkling green top, natural back and sides. Peace and long life! 🖖
Definitely a colour combination to consider. Metallic Green is one of my favorite colours.
