Well done sir. That is a simple process and takes minimal time to get right. This should help keep people from doing what the person who put that Les Paul I rescued together with a misaligned neck. Specially when you emphasized the fact the neck is tapered and needs to be accounted for.

Yeah, sometimes you got to slow down in the beginning to go fast at the end. Just take your time and make sure everything fits together as it should.

that drill bit idea isnt bad to get the the neck hole center. you can get some cheap center punch kits aswell. ive got that that goes from 1mm to 24mm's off ebay.

Yeah, a good center punch kit is very handy to have.
