- In this video series, I will be building a new Elysium Custom guitar. This guitar is based off of an LP Jr type guitar with a mahogany body and a 3 piece laminated mahogany neck. This will be my new Rebel model, featuring P90 Sonoran Custom pickups.
In this episode I begin work on applying the final finish to the guitar. In preparation for applying the finish I am applying 3 coats of sanding sealer, followed by 2 applications of grain filler, then a final coat of sanding sealer before applying the final finish.

Looks incredible, Bill, and I can't wait to see the completed guitar!
Many thanks. Same here really. I love the point once you can start seeing what the finished product will look like
Nice work Bill, good tip on the grain fill too 👍
It was my first use using oil based filler. It was much easier to use then I expected.
Cool Bill!
Thanks. Hoping to start shooting clear coat by the end of the week
grain filling seems to be a problem for me, maybe i need to try your method snd spend more time being patient and persistant.
I think that is my biggest struggle sometimes, is just realizing the "Yes this is a slow process and I need to be patient!" I have 10 coats of clear on it now and it is looking really good. Only about 10 more coats to go!
